When Fugaku Uchiha told you to sit down, you sat down.
Ino almost dropped on the floor- but had the good sense to perch on a seat across from him (even if she would much rather jump out of the window). She swallowed and folded her hands on her lap, making herself look into his eyes.
Ino’s horror only increased when he compared her to a criminal. She wasn’t! She forced herself to smile- but that was a wrong move. Her crime, in Fugaku’s eyes- was being too cheerful.
"…" Ino remained silent, partially because she was not sorry for being happy, and partially because she had no idea what ebullient meant.
She also didn’t want to say that her own father preferred her happy. And it was also his eldest son’s fault that she was so happy. If Itachi wasn’t so damned adorable, then she would not be so cheerful.
While the young girl inwardly cradles herself to tears, Fugaku continued to sign his name atop countless papers, clearly not bothered at all.
Minutes passed and the girl continued to sit properly, back straight and quiet as the breeze. Whilst the elder nonchalantly signed his papers, his pose lax and casual.
" Help yourself with some tea. " Fugaku suggested, a free hand pointing towards an extra steaming cup of tea (which was originally brewed for himself, using the mixture his eldest made for him) onto his right.
" I will be quick: I expected a hand from you--someone who signed herself up to be my assistant--to help with my work during the past months. " He pertained to the pile of papers filed atop another desk. " But I see most of your priorities laid somewhere else. " Whatever they were, Fugaku didn't care to bother.
Cold onyx eyes settled again on the younger one's slim figure, although those sky blue eyes seemed to be lingering around someplace else.
" I am talking to you, girl. Where are your thoughts flying at? Get a pen and let's get to work. "

" Hn. Since you're here Yamanaka-san, I need you to stay for a while. "
" We need to talk. "

[Secretly-not-so-secretly thinks it might be a good look on him]
" Do you need something, Yamanaka-san? "
[Unobtrusively leaves paparazzi shots of his sons for his birthday - the ones where they actually have shirts on. Mainly Itachi though.]
[scrutinizes every photograph left piled atop ungraded test papers in great detail]
[piles them all to one side and continues to grade the answered exam sheets]
[Leaves a dazzling cake for him to impress him. No, she did not bake it- she left that to the professionals and bought it- but still... please like her.]
Fugaku Uchiha finally came back from a 2-hour lecture only to find an elaborately-designed cake atop his faculty desk. Out of work habit, bottomless black pools quickly turned into bloody red, scrutinizing said pastry for any minuscule signs of danger that might be blanketed underneath. The Uchiha head was not a fan of sweets, and to suddenly find a cake on his tabletop was nothing short of suspicious.
Fugaku was about to simply pass it off as a delivery error when his keen eyes caught sight of a note. The cake was really intended for him, so it seems. What startled the teacher more, was the sender of this little surprise:
" Why would the daughter of Inoichi Yamanaka send me a cake? "
Perhaps, it was best to send Ino Yamanaka a note inquiring about the sudden gift. To Fugaku’s knowledge, him and the young Yamanaka had never even met, moreover, the girl isn’t even attending his class.
Is there an ulterior motive to this?
