Continuing my line of female alien sketches in my new sketchbook, we have Tahl Uvain, queen of my heart. Instead of filling the entire page like I usually do, I decided to go for a more artsy bust idea. I’m really proud of how it came out; took a VERY long time to get all the proportions mostly right.
Oops I just noticed my note up in the corner about my Ahsoka playlist…ha, sorry about that.
Time taken: a couple or so hours Medium: Mechanical pencil and Sarasa zebra 07 ballpoint pen.

I reread Jedi: The Dark Side and I decided to make some Tahl icons, because hardly anyone remembers her but I DO. I DO. There are also some Qui-Gon ones and some of them both, wooo

#woswaw: Day 1 - “Don’t look back”

It’s day 3 already, but I had no time for anything yesterday or on Monday, and I just had to participate in this awesome event! The ladies of SW are to badass to miss :D
So here’s a Tahl for you… although I’m pretty sure she’s not canon anymore. Oh well.
When I read the JA series (well, part of it), I was really impressed by her. While trying to negotiate a peace between two opposing parties, Tahl gets captured, tortured and blinded. After her rescue and subsequent return to the temple, she has to adjust to a completely new way of of living and fighting, but she doesn’t allow herself to be crushed by her loss of sight.

“A cup of the finest Chandrillan china, used by the Chandrillan high matriarch herself,” Qui-Gon corrected her.
Tahl lightly fingered the delicate curve of the handle. Decorative waves, painstakingly painted on the surface, looked almost so lifelike that they appeared to move. “Do I really seem like the fine china type to you?”
Qui-Gon pressed a hand over his heart like it physically pained him. “You wound me,” he mocked, “To think, I bring you back a gift I thought you would thoroughly enjoy, and you can’t even dredge up enough appreciation for a simple ‘thank you’.”
Tahl rolled her eyes at him. She ran her fingers over the sharp edges of a missing segment, splitting a hole in the rim. “There’s a chip in it,” she commented mildly, sensing a story behind a fracture in the nearly indestructible Chandrillan porcelain.
“Ah, yes. That would be from when the high matriarch threw it at my head,” the other Jedi mumbled, as bashful as Qui-Gon Jinn could get.
“Do tell,” Tahl smiled, gingerly setting the cup down in the narrow (perhaps too narrow) space between them.
