Eddie's eyes went huge, and under the sodium lights Buck could see his ears turning red.

Shit. Back off, back off, Buck told himself. He said, "I mean, you look like you know how to file your taxes," and immediately wanted to smack himself in the face.

Redwing beeps urgently. It doesn’t know why, but anxiety spreads throughout its little metal body. Sam looks at it soothingly. “What’s up with you? Is something wrong?” Redwing projects information onto its surface. There is footage of the Winter Soldier trying to kill Sam Wilson. Other footage of Sam Wilson and the Winter Soldier fighting together, arguing all the way.

Redwing does not like the Winter Soldier.

Sam Wilson grins. The call connects. The Winter Soldier says Sam Wilson’s name softly. Redwing is very good at reading emotions. It does not understand this one.

And then he’s gone and Dean’s alone, gasping sobs of air on the dungeon floor, and wishing he hadn’t. Listened. Wishing he could take it all back. Wishing he could just refuse, just keep Cas, if only for another instant, if only for long enough to stop thinking, What do you mean — what do you mean, something you know you can’t have?

Magnus doesn’t hear from the Shadowhunters after the summoning. The Circle is also quiet, so Magnus assumes no one has found the Mortal Cup yet. Fine by him. The Shadow world settles into a tense waiting game while Magnus helps keeps his warlocks in hiding, and keeps himself and Alec holed up in his loft.

Not that that’s such a hardship.
