If (for my dear Friend Wendy a.k.a. @justbeneath-thesurface2 ) ...
The lake at night
The week was long and on Saturday I was still thinking about the challenge of the week: A poem about
that lake at night.
A short poem.
A haiku maybe.
Finally
I went to a sage up on a mountain high
hoping for inspiration.
He listened closely.
Remained silent for a long time and then said:
"An example?
Listen. Learn.
Look at this mountain.
Focus. Breathe.
Then return to your place
in the valley and... "
he stopped speaking.
Looked at me as I took a deep breath.
Irritated. Almost - irate.
"That's not a haiku.
The sillables, the topic.
Are you kidding me?"
He laughed and said.
"But this sure was one.
Great. Guess you learned your lesson?
Have faith in yourself."
Protesting is an act of love. It is born of a deeply held conviction that the world can be a better, kinder place. Saying "no" to injustice is the ultimate declaration of hope.

And as an add-on here's a poem for you from one of my favorite German Singers/Songwriters:
Wolf Biermann.
Encouragement
You, don't let yourself become hardened
in these hard times
those that are too hard
break
Those who are all too pointed,
sting and break off immediately.
You, don't let yourself become bitter
in these bitter times
the rulers tremble
- with you're behind bars -
but not because of your suffering.
You, don't be frightened
in these frightening times
that's what they want to achieve
they want us to lay down our arms
before the great fight.
You, don't let yourself be used up
use your time
You can't hide
You need us and we need
your cheerfulness.
We don't want to be silent
in these silent times
the green is sprouting from the twigs
we want to show it to everyone
then they will know.

I still remember the days, my father introduced me to gospel and soul music.
I guess i was about 14 years old and - hooked right away.
I really loved these angelic yet powerful voices.
Especially when it came to love - heavenly and earthly.
And of course when they sang songs of hope, we all can make a change - in our own lives and in the world outside.
Love has many facets.
It is particularly important to think about it at this time of year. And on that 19th day of my xmas calendar, I have a classic of black music for you!
Curtis Mayfield’s “People get ready”.
Inspiring - isn’t it?
“I cannot say whether things will get better if we change; what I can say is they must change if they are to get better.”
— Georg C. Lichtenberg (German lumiere, physicist, satirist and anglophile).
Hello and welcome again on the eve of the 3rd advent 2022.
My calendar asks for a song that makes me sad.
Well here is a beautiful song:
"Come Immanuel" by the Piano Guys.
What makes me sad, is the contrast to all the pictures of hate and violence we saw in this passing year.
But - listen closely and - hope for a better one. 🖖🐺
On this 9th day of my calendar I have a wonderful, happy Advent song for you. Makes me think of an very old friend of mine and her motto: More with less. Way ahead of her/our time to realize this...
A gifted Lady, isn't she? If you want an encore - here it cometh... 😉👍
“Hope is not blind optimism. It’s not ignoring the enormity of the task ahead or the roadblocks that stand in our path. It’s not sitting on the sidelines or shirking from a fight. Hope is that thing inside us that insists, despite all evidence to the contrary, that something better awaits us if we have the courage to reach for it, and to work for it, and to fight for it. Hope is the belief that destiny will not be written for us, but by us, by the men and women who are not content to settle for the world as it is, who have the courage to remake the world as it should be.”
— Barack Obama
