He insisted on being fine again five days later although Audrey and everyone else could clearly see that he was not. The fever had certainly subsided but the cough was still very pronounced and Siegfried kept forgetting where he had placed his various belongings. Several times Audrey had to remind him of the list he had left next to the telephone, then run after him with his pipe and his glasses before he left for the first farm visit in almost a week. At the end of the morning, when all men had left the house she was almost as exhausted as Helen who struggled with the summer heat.
