So one year ago today the first Ouroboros Cycle book was released. Now I can tell you that when an author or artist releases something that they’ve spent ten years making, there’s a great deal of suspense and uncertainty about whether it will be well received. When you’ve put so much of yourself into a project, you’re always terrified that no one will like it.
Little did I know then the incredible response that The Ouroboros Cycle, Book One: A Monster’s Coming Of Age Story was to receive. Over the course of the past year an incredible fandom seems to have developed around the series, and I am both humbled and honored by it. The "Sassassins" as the fans have taken to calling themselves (because they, like the characters in the book, have “sass”) are some of the most enthusiastic, friendly, and clever fans I have ever seen. They have tea parties and online hang-outs, marvelous inside jokes, and are some of the most welcoming people you’ve ever met. They encourage each other, they invite new fans to join them, and are just generally awesome.
I cannot describe how much it means to me to have a fandom such as this forming around my work. It’s wonderful to think that my writing has affected people in this way, and I hope that it continues to move people and bring them together like this.
I want to thank everyone for their enthusiastic support for the book. I’m humbled and delighted and I am incredibly grateful.
So happy Sass Day to one and all!
(By the way, I did not coin the term “Sass Day”. That Sassassins did, and I love them for it.)
This genuinely just made me grin ear to ear and get emotional.
I'm forever grateful and pleased that I was loud about something I loved and this fandom happened. I love you all, genuinely.
I'm also beyond happiness that our author is the most humble and fantastic man to exist, and deals with our shenanigans on a constant basis. It sets the heart all a flutter.
Happy Sass Day everyone, and here's for the future!
The Ouroboros Cycle A paranormal adventure series by G. D. Falksen Get the first book "The Ouroboros Cycle, Book 1: A Monster’s Coming of Age Story" here in ebook and print format: Or wherever else books are sold online, etc. The Ouroboros Cycle, Book 1: A Monster’s Coming of Age Story How far would you go to avenge the one you love? Would you go beyond death? Born into the stifling confines of French upper society, Babette Varanus never thought that she would have to answer that question. Surrounded by wealth yet ostracized by her peers, Babette had little interest in love until she met Korbinian, a scandalous German baron with the audacity to regard her as his equal. But when the intrigues of her grandfather’s enemies conspire to tear them apart, Varanus will embark upon a journey of vengeance, love, and redemption that will take her beyond the limitations of mortality and reveal to her the dark forces that command humanity from the shadows. Faced with madness, murder, hidden cults, and erudite vampires, does she have the strength to withstand the storm that rises against her? “ The Ouroboros Cycle, Book Two “A Cautionary Tale For Young Vampires” is due out later this month. This one’s for all of the fan girls.
No BBC you don’t understand
I need season 4 now
Also this reaction a lot. ...A lot.
May or may be how you feel after certain feels inducing parts in The Ouroboros Cycle. This however made me laugh.
Let me make this clear
This is cosplay
[x]
Cosplay is about having fun.
[x]
You’re skin tone should never be a problem.
[x]
Nor should it influence the characters you want to be.
[x]
Whether your natural skin tone matches a character’s or not,
[x]
It doesn’t matter!
[x]
You can cosplay whoever you want.
[X]
or whatever you want!
[X]
And don’t let anyone tell you different!
[x]
same goes for body types!!
Entirely true! Let's see some Ouroboros cosplays!
This is going to be your reactions to certain parts of A Cautionary Tale For Young Vampires. ;)
When you manage to get a friend into a book series that you like
And they’re like, “This is amazing!”
And you’re like
It's exactly like this.
Good afternoon everyone! With the holidays coming up, something fun should be had! So, we're having a holiday fan art/ fanfiction contest!
- One lucky Sassassin will win a 'fancy and lovely little pom-pom fascinator hat of winning'!
- EVERYONE who participates will get a 'Sassassin Level Up' in the form of a nifty web badge. The winner and runners up for the contest will get special ones for their finishing placements!
Now before you explode from either excitement or terror. let me explain some rules: I. It can be writing OR art. It doesn't need to be just specifically one or the other. If you don't want to write, draw!
--- If you are writing, keep it to around 2000 words. A little over or less is perfectly fine. --- Up to THREE entries each. They can be drawings and writings, they don't all need to be the same. --- Please tag your work with #OuroborosCycleFanArt --- If submitting writing, add a photo and make the description your work. I think that should work? I'm not entirely sure if there's a word count limit. Let me know. (Only if you're entering on the Facebook group. If not, carry on and make a text post submission on this main page with the 'Submit' link.) II. Before you break down into feels related tears because it's Christmas- It doesn't need to be holiday related, even though it is, in fact, that time of the year. It DOES however have to be Ouroboros Cycle related, so if you haven't read the book yet, get on it! III. Since it IS fanfiction, anything goes- to an extent. If you're chosen as the winner, I want to share your work with everyone, so just keep that in mind when writing or drawing the incredibly hot and steamy scenes, yes? IV. No dueling with French men on Christmas. That is all. Since it's the holidays, I'm aware that most people are busy so you might not get a lot of time to draw or write. Which is why I'm making the end of this the end of the month instead of earlier. The DEADLINE for this lovely contest will be December 31st. Send your submissions to myself if you're entering from the Facebook group and PLEASE let me know that it's for the contest or I won't have a clue as to why you're messaging me with fantastic and wonderful things.
If however, you're entering from here on Tumblr, you can simply use the 'Submit' form on the main page. There's a tag already there that you can click and add to your submission.
Facebook Group can be found here:
Now let's see those creative and fantastic skills, everyone!
Good afternoon everyone! I made a few more music playlists today that have to do with The Ouroboros Cycle in one way or another. Whether it be simply the title of a song, music feelings, lyrics, etc.
Please do give them a listen, they're lots of fun to make and if YOU want to make your own list of songs, or whatever it is that you listen to while reading, feel free to send me a message and share! I'd be happy to post it.
Onwards!
