This weeks videos a little chiller than normal, a little different, I tried 3-D sculpting in Blender for the first time.
she's very... experimental! but hey, I'm proud of it since it's new for me.
I'm still calling her both a mermaid and a doll because that's the goal for this character when I eventually sculpt her in clay.
its been nearly 2 years since I started learning to 3D model. I really love making art this way so much, in a way that I couldn't have known at the time!
I saw @i-m-snek's recent post and realized that it was so similar to Strawberry Snake so I had to make a new little hat (Yes, I did ask permission to make the model). It actually made me realize that I may have subconsciously been inspired by i-m-snek since I have seen many posts with Leliana in various hats*
*note that i-m-snek's hats aren't attached firmly and not all snakes will permit a hat balanced on their little heads
The stl file is available here with both hats.
lol
also another listing has a sweetie pup (not expensive i just think theyre cute)
Alright Cha Cha fans, I voyeuristically watch auctions over on my other blog
There are 4 listings on ebay for Cha Cha for >$175, who wants to vote on how much the Goodwill Shopping Cha Cha will go for
Because of the patreon drama I'd be interested to hear whether people see it as "worth it" nowadays. Ko-fi doesn't seem to have nearly as many people on it but is an up-and-comer among subscription services
I accidentally strung her before realizing i hadnt finished the matte topcoat. But i realized i needed to hang the pieces anyways so now shes like this.
I uploaded these guys to Cults3D, links above! They haven't been test printed but i sliced them in cura to test the viability of the print. They're just 2 pieces so they should be fine and they didn't throw any errors.
A unique feature I added is 2 extra heads per llama which have a row of holes for hair, both in "large" and "small" depending on the printer resolution. These are to make rooting/gluing hair easier, as an alternative to gluing the hair on the outside of the head or drilling/melting holes (and to make it safer...).
Obviously these holes are larger, more separated and there are fewer than in an actual MLP character, but this was the best I could think up without completely messing up the structural integrity of the head!
Oh how cute! I love the idea of a smaller 'baby' llama too.
Why...why is the smaller one marked with razor blades?
I think it might be meant to be scarves or maybe rugs, my first thought seeing them was that the bigger one has like winter hats and the smaller one has scarves, I'm not certain though haha
They are meant to be rugs 😅 they kinda look like candy bars to me. I was having trouble thinking of other things llama wool could be made into.
My 2 part epoxy resin is all yellow so now i have to decide whether to use the uv resin i have or just use the yellow resin or put this on hold….
unfortunately i seem to have straight up lost my UV resin, but the good news is i was already considering fully rearranging this room and my art supplies because its so messy, and also i have a paper i need to work on and so i will feel so productive avoiding that. ill let you all know if i find it.
Well the good news is that it took 5 hours but i did finally find my uv resin in a random bin
I moved my shelf actoss tje room and reorganized all my stuffed animals

are you ok with people remixing or altering your designs for personal use? Like altering the 3D models slightly for personal printing?
Hi! I am okay with that!
I haven't really assembled a list of "rules" for what to do with my 3D prints at the moment. My Cults3D prints are mainly flagged with this license (although I haven't updated all of them to it):
There is also this license, "no derivative", but I don't feel right restricting people's use of my models given the fact that much of my art is fanart and is derivative.
For files not on Cults3D (ie the Takara BJD because thats the... only one), I am... not sure*. If anyone would like to sell Takara BJD commercially let me know, the only thing is I made clear she was PWYW and not released on a larger platform because she was not tested. And I don't want her going out into the world with my name on her if she has any flaws.
*I am not sure of the exact license, but you can alter your own copy as long as the original source is credited!
Here's Otterloreart's Takara Pony BJD printed full size, with a Barbie Dream Besties for scale :)
I need to cure the parts a little further before stringing.
In the last photo you can see the areas that were a bit gooey out of the vat. They hardened up in the uv curing station, but I would like to set them in direct sunlight for a while.
This size is adorable and the doll is so sweet.
I know we were calling her mango pony but now that she's cured I'm getting strong Cheddar Cheese vibes. A delicious and creamy cheese pony. Do you think the hardened color will match your vision for the doll or are you going to get another color?
The pose of the tiny one is so funny! I didn't realize how different their sizes would be! I tried to size the big takara so her head would be a similar size to the original takaras, especially because I knew the arm joints would end up being quite small.
I wish I had taken a photo of them lying down, but when I sized up the Bunny Doll I tried to make her head a similar size to the takaras as well. Only, her head looks even more comically huge because of the ears + skinny legs.
@otterloreart The tiny test print firmed up in ambient light enough to string her -- I'm not sure a mini-print will be much good as feedback but here she is for fun! She's adorable 😭
I'm actually losing my mind at the little poses and the little chair and the ahhhhhhh everything ;-;
Is she just free standing?! Like can she balance?!
Oh my gosh I should make some extra hand poses because she just looks SO shocked all the time lol but it does look kinda charming like that too, she looks like a stock photo character:
also the fact that your background is like. matching sized shelves of props?! literally looks like she's at an ice cream parlor omg...
ahahaha ok it's my first time doing a "vat clean" after a failed print and you peel this big fruit rollup off the bottom after it cures a single thin layer. and it brings up all the failed parts that are stuck to the bottom. satisfying!
(the failed supports off to the side are saved from the printer bed and put on the bottom of the vat to have something to grab and start the peel with ... wonder of wonders it worked)
ok I haven't poured the vat resin through a filter yet but I did open all the doors and turn on the heater 🤞
So thats how theyre made…
