Old School Shipper

I’m T, and my brain is made of fanfic, one OTP at a time, now featuring Steve/Bucky.
|| AO3 || masterpost of my content || My heart ticks for two best friends trusting and choosing each other all over their canon (and a thousand AUs) on their steady dance to partners. She/her.Spain. Broken English at times.

"That punk didn't know what was coming," the caption on the album says in Bucky's messy handwriting. And Steve didn't. He didn't know Bucky's cell was recording them slow-dancing at home. He didn't know Bucky was about to say 'Don't you think it's about time that we make it official?'. Didn't know he was about to open his eyes in shock and step on Bucky's toes making him drop the box with the ring. Had no idea that they'd end up laughing on the floor for five whole minutes until he calmed down enough to say 'yes'. Steve didn't know this grainy capture would end up being the best engagement photo he could had ever wished for.

WILD WEST YEARLY 6Ks, Stucky Far West AU, General.

Summary: Five Halloweens when Bucky worked their situation into an excerpt of a Dime Novel, and the one time he didn’t feel like he needed to or The Westen AU with less action and more “slice of life” and fluff known to fandom.
Notes: @stuckygiftexchange written for @sovietespionage, the prompt was "Old West Stucky”. Hope you enjoy it... even if it's dust-covered fluff. This fic is more inspired by the memories I have of watching "Dr. Quinn: Medicine Woman" as a teen than to any western… since I know nothing about them. I tried to make up for the anachronisms of language and, probably, settings, by creating the Western Magazine covers that you'll see before each chapter (Posted here, but readable and in full resolution inside the fic). I didn't draw the comics, I STRONGLY manipulated them, tho, so please do not repost. They are all from public domain western comics from here, and the Header is from an actual Dime Western Collection that was publishing at the time. Thank you from the bottom of my heart to @dreamsinthewitchouse , @between-a-ship-and-a-hard-place, @rillils, @thewinterwelded Your support meant I could finish this on time! :)

Thing is, neither of them were supposed to survive: they had not a single card stacked in their favor. They were penniless, Steve had the poorest health known to man, and Bucky had been sent home to die with a rumbled brain and lacking half an arm after military service. And oh, they were queer.

That’s why when he arrived at their rent-due tenement in Brooklyn with infection consuming his body and shame consuming his soul, Steve was waiting for him with red eyes, belongings inside a single suitcase and a worrying wheezing sound coming out from his chest.

“Wanna go see the Grand Canyon before we die, Buck?” Steve said as he hugged, kissed and bedded him for the first time in eight months.

There was no other possible outcome: they ended up sneaking in a cargo train headed somewhere in the Far West. Two city boys jumping into the unknown together for as long as their health would allow them to. It was the perfect plan, the perfect goodbye, the perfect….

It’s been a year since I published this and I still feel proud of finishing it and SPECIALLY of the graphics. They were fun to do.

Stucky Week: Cuddling (Pre-War)

HISTORIC BROOKLYN MUSEUM

Glass Negative. Dated: Brooklyn, July 8rd 1940.

Steve and Bucky love spending time looking at what people call "old pictures" in librarys' and museums' online catalogs: They go through them on their phones just the same way people from this century do with their photo libraries... It brings back memories, smells, and places that are not longer there.

It's Bucky who finds the picture: one lazy summer afternoon and after too many pictures of random cars from the 40s, he's presented with two young men in bed.

Bucky can see their relaxed and blurry faces, the brick wall, an open window, clothes hanging from the bed.

But he can also see what's not in the picture: the kitchen on the other side of the bed, the humidity of a July afternoon, the increasing worry over the latest news from the war, the ghost of a kiss on the lips.

He takes his eyes off the phone for a second and smiles as he looks at his legs, entangled with Steve's who is currently laying there with his eyes closed, enjoying the air conditioning on this hot summer day.

"Look at this, Steve," he says as he handles him the phone. "I found a mirror to the past."

HISTORIC BROOKLYN ITEM DESCRIPTION: Glass negative found amongst a set of pictures from the Brooklyn Docks. Rest of the pictures seemly unrelated to this one. Once developed using two different exposition times, it shows the inside of a brick apartment with two men laying together in bed in close intimacy. Unidentified.

I don't know where this came from @stucky-week , but here it is. And I wasn't supposed to be doing anymore prompts, i need to sleep!

Classic Movie!Poster time. A version of one of the posters from "The Man with the Golden Arm" by the god of design (aka Saul Bass) because it was perfect from them.

You can see the originals here if you are curious.

I had soooo much fun making this version. I'm having a bit of a yellow withdrawal after two days using other colors, but it will come back soon, I know that.

A bit of trivia from a movie!nerd: Kim Novak (the female lead on the original) started out her career being the face of a refrigerators’ company… and was nicknamed Miss Deepfreeze. I guess Steve is Kim Novak in more ways than one, haha.

One third of this auto-challenge done!! :D

A MONTH WITH STEVE AND BUCKY INDEX (10 of 30!)

Random reblog of this poster because I love Saul Bass and I was just talking about him at home… and looking back I can say I actually like how this one turned out 💛

(Still zero time for creating content, or reading and I MISS IT HERE so much)
