I saw this picture in twitter and I couldn’t help myself about this soft ficlet/headcanon
But I don't mind the rain (So strike me once again)
Steve and Bucky are happily walking back home during a cold and rainy November afternoon, it’s already dark and Steve takes his phone out with wet fingers after feeling it vibrate inside his pocket.
It turns out to be just a notification about online banking, but when he looks up from the screen and sees Bucky patiently covering him with their shared umbrella, he takes advantage of the phone and snaps a pic. He can’t (won’t) stop himself, and the flash bursts, covering everything in light for half a moment.
They keep on strolling as they were: hand in hand, Bucky holding the too small umbrella that makes them walk even closer than normal, but still getting their non-bumping shoulders wet as they laugh and talk about everything and nothing all at once.
When they arrive home, Bucky goes to the bathroom to grab some towels, and Steve waits by the door, grabs his phone again, and checks the picture on his phone.
There’s no intentional art on it, the too strong flash creating shadows in Bucky’s face, but it is also the most artistic thing Steve has seen in a long time because it’s Bucky.
Relaxed, all blue eyes and soft lips. Lines stronger than the Brooklyn boy he met so long ago, hinting at the years and the tears that have gone through him. But he’s there. Solid, happy, looking at Steve like he’s the only thing in the world.
He knows he must already be spotting the silliest and most love-struck expression when Bucky makes it even worse coming out from the room vigorously drying his damp hair with a towel, and already in sweats and a frayed T-shirt that once belonged to Steve.
Bucky (all soft clothes and soft face) offers him the towel, and Steve takes it but just to use it as a trap to catch Bucky by the waist and pull him closer, soaking his newly warm clothes with his dripping jacket, and his dry lips with a squishy loving kiss.
