30 Day Drama CD Challenge - Day 30

That would obviously have to be: Shinsengumi Mokuhiroku Wasurenagusa volume 6 with Yamazaki (cv. Morikawa Toshiyuki)!!!

It’s just PERFECTION. Great character development in my eyes! It’s also 2 CDs (roughly 1 hour and 45 minutes) of the ever wonderful Morikawa Toshiyuki whispering in your EAR! The story was extremely interesting to me, as I had some understanding of Hakuouki beforehand and the still popular view of the Shinsengumi in the past. When I first came across the series, I was still very new to the whole concept of drama CDs and seiyuus in general, but I was instantly drawn to Yamazaki’s design but the stunning Suou who did the artwork for the series!

Yamazaki’s Mokuhiroku release (note; Shinsengumi Kekkonroku Wasurenagusa is the second season of CDs in the series) was actually on my birthday but I had not purchased it until shortly after because I was very afraid it wasn’t something I would enjoy. I ended up being hooked on it INSTANTLY. I had plenty of moments, when I first listened to it, where I screamed/squealed and smothered myself with my nearest pillow. I knew the character wasn’t perfect (with his “I’ll kill you” comments) but understood it was part of who HE was as a character in the series. Not exactly something I’d forgive in real life, but in the story he was a spy of sorts and was constantly on guard and suspicious of people. Being in that kind of environment, it’s likely he used the threat on both enemies as well as companions. But despite these moments, he also would realize his transgressions later and honestly seemed to regret his actions. I liked that he was kind of a tsundere do-S with do-M moments, which gave him a rounded presence to me.

Morikawa Toshiyuki’s performance was PERFECTION as well and I swoon every time I listen to it. It’s one of my favorite CDs (obviously why it’s my #1 right now for this question haha) and I’ve listened to it so many times I call out lines before they happen but still giggle/squeal when they come shortly after as well. His voice carried a lot of weight with the character and it hit me with FEELS MY POOR KOKORO COULD NOT CONTAIN;;; Having that great character design (he looks so much older in the CD artwork which is my favorite view of him) with  Morikawa’s smooth voice was the perfect fit for me! I can’t even remember or even begin to guess how many times I’ve listened to this wonderful CD!!

I’m such a fan I have literally every damn Yamazaki/Wasurenagusa item I could get my hands on! I have the pillowcase, fabric panel, bromides, clearfiles, pins/badges, straps, posters, etc! AND IT’S ALWAYS GROWING!! I even have the cover artwork (which I scanned and edited myself) as my desktop wallpaper from WAAAAAY BACK and it hasn’t changed since! I hooked up my HD TV to my laptop as an additional monitor and sometimes just have it on so I can see the gorgeous wallpaper of a giant HD Yamazaki staring out into my apartment LOL

Some of my favorite moments in the CD varies greatly. I really loved just about everything. I’m not a fan of forced kissing (when you’re trying to avoid being found out by bad guys) but considering your relationship at the time and such it wasn’t as bad to me. I mean, before hand you had approached him because you were so happy to see him in town despite him being on a mission LOL Granted, he took a little advantage of the situation at the time because he had feelings for you at that time a little but still… He came later after you went to sleep and apologized to you (despite you not knowing he even did so) and it was nice to hear him regret those actions and admit that he loves you. After that he always seemed to treat you sweetly and more freely, even taking you to a mountain where his favorite butterflies are and he keeps secret from everyone else. He holds your hand when you can’t sleep and baaaawwwwww SUCH A CUTIE~ Broken in his own little ways at times, but you see his true feelings behind those awkward words/actions and it’s so adorable.

After listening to Sanosuke’s CD for the Kekkonroku season, I’m starting to seriously fret and worry over how his CD will end. Based on Okita’s second release and Sanosuke’s in Kekkonroku, I’m pretty sure NONE OF THEM will end happily. But I know, I can always come back to the Mokuhiroku Yamazaki and find peace there again~ I am interested to see what his story for the next release will be and how his character develops further. While at the same time, I’m extremely excited (and just as worried for) the Shinpachi release which will be voiced by Maeno Tomoaki… Having my top 2 biases in the same series (and they’re also in an adult series Kareshi Igai Type D together) is the ultimate in AWESOME! I’m interested to see if Shinpachi/Maeno will knock Yamazaki/Morikawa out of first place in my heart or not, but doing so would take A LOT of work since Yamazaki is so tightly in his place now…

I’ll……. stop my fangirling here for now LOL I’m actually listening to it again right now and I’m just sitting here with stars in my eyes… Yamazaki~ //swoon//

I'm not actually loyal to any ONE company or all of their releases. Hell, half of the time I don't even get/want every CD in a series. It always depends on the seiyuu, story/plot concept, and other things such as that but not so much a company in general. But Rejet is high on my list of "not a bad company" since they came out with Wasurenagusa and I've been able to get a lot of goods of my favorite character, Yamazaki, which gets them kudo points for making them possible! PLUS, YAMAZAKI IS PLAYED BY MORIKAWA AND WHAT MORE COULD I ASK FOR?! Oh yeah, Maeno playing SHINPACHI!!! AHHH I CAN'T WAIT;;;

30 Day Drama CD Challenge - 25 Days

This is actually really hard, but right now it's Genyouki volume 2 with Maeno Tomoaki!!! Only but a lil bit, but I bet you didn't see that coming;;; It really is a great release and it's nothing but fluff and love and adorable and awesome and DOUBLE VOICES fffffffffffffff I swoon every damn time~ I really love listening to the later half of the CD where all the kissing is and fajspeoafisjepf SO GOOD. MY SOUL MELTS NO MATTER HOW MANY TIMES I LISTEN TO IT!

I think I did a decent enough job covering the points in it that I liked in many of the other questions I answered for the meme, so feel free to look back at the Genyouki tag I have! Plus I'm exhausted and I'll just keep the fangirling to myself today... I'm also trying to listen to Shinsengumi Kekkonroku Wasurenagusa volume 2 Sanosuke (cv. 30 Day Drama CD Challenge - Day 24

OH GOD. I'll avoid mentioning FULL CDs and just literally go with the ones where I listen to like one track or section on repeat........ With that being the case I will have to put Voltage Inc.'s "Pirates in Love" drama CD in there where Tachibana Shinnosuke plays one of my favorites from the game, Shin/Edwardo. His track was cute I thought, and it's really the only track with him alone on the CD so it's my bias track out of them all.

Honestly, there's not a lot of "single tracks" or scenes/moments that I listen to on repeat... it tends to be either the entire CD, the later half of the CD, or not at all. And so I tend to fall in love with the entire CD instead of one specific part I guess;;;

AH! But I really like the part in Genyouki where Maeno Tomoaki starts using his okuri-ookami voice (lower) after you found out the secret. I just love all those moments when there's no more of that uncertainty ffffffff~

And I also just loved the general scenes of the KISSxKISS Collections (STFU I LIKE THAT CD A LOT OKAY) volume 1 with Fujiwara Keiji. The scenes, though being labeled "Adult Kiss", were all really fluffy and cute and awesome and my SOUL JUST BLEEDS LOVE FOR IT. The lines and EVERY DAMN SCENE was perfect and made me swoon. So I tend to put the CD on repeat, and each track is like an individual moment so that still counts right??? Who am I kidding, I can't just admit I like one track over anything else;;; When I love something, I LOVE THE ENTIRE THING!!! Don't even get my started on my full-CD addictions like Wasurenagusa and such;;; I tried so hard to avoid them but a few still slipped in;;;

30 Day Drama CD Challenge - Day 23

I don't listen to them often, really. I sometimes can't keep up or am not particularly interested. Sometimes I find myself listening to ones just to see how they are. If the seiyuu feels stiff or something I tend to avoid it though. I did recently listen to the Voice Supplement 1 drama CD free talk with Hatano Wataru and Yoshimasa Hosoya and as I stated here, IT WAS COMPLETE CHAOS AND LAUGHTER!! It is probably my favorite so far. I really loved how they were just LAUGHING so much together! That's the kind of freetalk I think I enjoy most~ So for now, it's the Voice Supplement 1 free talk LOLLOLOLJFSPOEIF

30 Day Drama CD Challenge - Day 22

TSUNDERE. Yandere so far has been a big NO. Well, not extreme ones that's for sure;;; Do-M or Do-S would likely depend on the extent and context. A softer Do-S I guess and Do-M is a nice change of pace, being the more assertive party. But I think a balance of both is best Do-S and Do-M. If I remember correctly Yamazaki would be a tsundere Do-S and Do-M with moments for both... which might explain why I like him so much (plus the whole Morikawa being awesome and all ffffff)

D-Does this answer the question? LOL I don't know anymore, all I ever do is ramble on without a train of thought... hell, I don't even think there's a train track for the train. More like a caboose rolling down a mountain backwards. That's been a saying of mine since I started University. I said it randomly at dinner with my roommates and they were like ". . . . that fits you pretty well actually" LOL;;;

30 Day Drama CD Challenge - Day 21

Oh hey, an EASY question!! Haven't had one of those in a while...... I tend to listen to CDs late afternoon and evening after work, or WHENEVER on weekends. It's more of a "Do I want music or SMUT FOR MY EARS?... SMUT." I prefer the drama CDs if I'm cooking, and am not in a dancing or TV mood. I tend to use that time as a chance to listen to new CDs too, which can be difficult at times if I'm doing dishes and I want to cover my face but I can't;;; IT'S LIKE SELF-TORTURE. "Help, he's whispering in my ear! Quick, someone cover my ears!!! SHIT. I LIVE ALONE. jfc"

Another way I like to listen to my CDs is sitting haphazardly on my sofa, with my legs hanging off the opposite arm rest. Or on the floor cushion in front of it. I sometimes use my sofa as a backrest more so than an actual furniture;;; I usually end up with my knees tucked close to my chest and my mouth placed firmly on my knees with my hands nearby for 'face/ear covering salvation' when those EAR ATTACKS happen.

I put all of my drama CDs into separate playlists that are all labeled "OTOME - [series / volume] - [seiyuu]" for easy finding. I listen to all my otome drama CDs through my iPhone, so I can use my iPad Mini as a way to play my otome app games that have sound and won't play background music when opened. I have 78 separate playlists, of which are sometimes separated by individual release, split for different seiyuus on same CD, all special CD tracks in their own designated series playlist, etc...

I can't really listen to drama CDs in bed because my headphones slip off my head when I'm laying down. Earbuds don't work as well for me because one ear will be really good and other may not. Plus the whole 'I can't curl up into a ball and hide my face in my knees' when I'm laying down since it would involve me being on my side and my headphones pressing painfully into the side of my head;;;

So yeah, a little random of a reply but tried to cover the personal points in how I listen to CDs. It really depends on my mood, the weather, the time, if I will be multi-tasking at the same time, and how lazy do I want to be LOL Above are my more common preferences and their reasoning. Whee.

30 Day Drama CD Challenge - Day 20

OH GOD, THIS IS ACTUALLY REALLY HARD FOR ME. I want to say Maeno Tomoaki, because he has consistent wonderful kisses! Especially in his Genyouki CD I think, and pretty much every other CD of his I listened to afterward. I'm rather confident that his kisses are consistent and wonderfully sweet and meaningful. Not very often I get a strange kind of "kiss" sound that makes my face contort confused or giggle from, if even once for that matter. Luckily he plays EXTREMELY WELL with all kinds of kisses by feeling natural and true, and his work for the app Voice Supplement is by no means any LESS of an addiction of mine. THOSE LINES WITH THOSE KISSES ARE GUARANTEED OVARY KILLERS. Don't say I didn't warn you.

Morikawa Toshiyuki is also a constant 100% great kisser guarantee in my opinion! At least in the various CDs of his I've listened to like Wasurenagusa, Sleepy-time Boyfriend/Soine Kareshi, and Hakozume to name a few. He has great kisses and is my first seiyuu bias and preference! His voice and the way he does his characters is all kinds of swoon worthy~ I really love his characters! YAMAZAKI~!!!

But, this last one is a bit of a surprise I think for some. FUJIWARA KEIJI. Yup. I'm sorry, but after that amazing KISSxKISS Collections volume 1 "Adult Kiss" I have not looked at this seiyuu the same since. Every time I see his name I flashback to that CD (first one of his I ever listened to) and get all excited. I know though that the writing really set up the whole mood in the CD, but his kisses were FABULOUS. Great performance and very natural! Now, I don't have too many CDs of his where he actually gets to kiss "you", aside from Hitorijime for example. His role in the Onsen CD series is more preliminary and final narration, though he does have his own CD release which I own and have listened to. I can't say I remember too many kisses in it... At least not quite to the degree of KISSxKISS, which definitely lives up to its name!!

Again, these are just my preferences. I look both for performance, natural "sounds" (sorry but some sound like a dog licking my face), as well as the overall mood of the CD which I think is a big part of making a "good kisser" as opposed to "good kiss but awkward moment"... You want a kiss that can make your mind go blank, even if it's a horrible story, but at the same time you want it all to work perfectly together for that extra KICK. Whatever, I'm rambling now...

30 Day Drama CD Challenge - Day 19

For me, right now, likely to be "Aisaresugite XX Sarechau" volume 2 with Hirakawa Daisuke... And only the "brute" version CD, the "sweet" one was sweet and all kinds of awesome. But I can't say for 100% that the "brute" CD is disturbing/traumatizing because I haven't finished it.

Hell, I barely finished the first track because after listening to the sweet one first and hearing the sudden "tone of voice" change from sweet to "I'M ANGRY YOU DIDN'T CHOOSE TO MOVE IN WITH ME" made my brain instantly go "DO NOT WANT WHAT'S COMING AFTER THIS OMFG NO NONONOOOOOO"... I tried skimming through other tracks and I swear it was constantly that tone of voice when he wasn't in his casual work mode in front of others. I was just shaking my head 'no' every time I stopped in a part of the CD. I should probably try going back and seeing just what extremes and how early it starts. Whereas the sweet didn't get "adult" until like the last track for a few minutes I think;;; The feeling I got from the brute was all kinds of evil from the get-go LOL;;;

I'm the type of person who avoids confrontations, even ones where it's just a simple change in voice, because I can just FEEL THE HATE RADIATING OUT FROM A PERSON............ So I'm not exactly the cruel-type of otome fangirl;;; I'm too nice to prefer evil yandere types, if that makes sense.

30 Day Drama CD Challenge - Day 18

Obviously "LOVERS ONLY" volume 2 with Toriumi Kousuke. Yup, my first adult CD. Took me a bit to convince myself it shouldn't make me feel guilty (LOL my, now-lost, virgin ears)... I read the translation and my heart literally broke in half. I knew I needed to have it once I understood the plot... Toriumi plays a guardian angel who falls in love with "you", who he should be protecting. Over time you get closer and fall in love, and he gives you a mirror as a gift which you originally first met over. In the end, when you make love together, the ordeal causes you to lose your memory (NOT BECAUSE IT WAS THAT DAMN GOOD/BAD OKAY!?) since angels and humans shouldn't be in a relationship or some stupid rules... In the end, he remembers your relationship and you forget, finally finding the right "man" and getting married or something while Toriumi-angel continues to watch over you.

//cue uncontrollable tears//

At least it wasn't a horrific end, just extremely bittersweet. I'm not a fan of bittersweet (I EAT SUGAR CUBES FOR BREAKFAST, GIVE IT TO ME HARD AND SWEET BBY) but it was still extremely sweet and nice. Still makes me really sad though;;; But yeah, that's what came to mind first. I don't like super sad endings. I can imagine a lot of the Wasurenagusa fangirls would reply that Okita made their ovaries explode, along with their tear ducts and hearts;;;

30 Day Drama CD Challenge - Day 17

Without a doubt "KISSxKISS Collections" volume 1 "Adult Kiss" with Fujiwara Keiji!! I know, a little bit of a shocker since he tends to have the quirky roles from what little otome I've seen of his (well, Hitorijime aside pfft) such as "G" in the Onsen series lol!! But in this volume, the FIRST in the series that KEEPS ON GOING, he's a smooth talking, confident boyfriend!! AND DAMN THOSE SEXY LINES AND KISSES!!!!! //fangirl scream//

I have to admit, the first time I tried listening to it, I literally threw my headphones across the room all of 10 seconds in because it was just THAT DAMN STEAMY. But in a fluffy cute kind of way. BUT STILL SEXY. And fluffy. BUT MOSTLY GODDAMN FUCKING SEXY. The writer for the CD's lines is my personal hero. He's protective but in a dorky adult manner and it's so cute~ AND THEN THERE'S THE STEAMY LINES like his "I like your camisole dress... because it's easy to take off //laughs//" I JUST DIE EVERY DAMN TIME. And his voice is nice and low but sensual in a way that literally kind of killed my ovaries before it even got to the kisses.

I'm sorry I don't even know how to properly describe it. I literally had to pause the CD to compose myself so I wouldn't die every few SECONDS. Of course, at the time, I was still trying to find my niche and adjust to the different seiyuus and types of CDs out there. "All kissing CDs? Sounds like chaos and fun to me, let me try it! JFC WHAT IS THIS AN OVARY BOMB ON CD!?" I couldn't even think about the CD when I first got it (after giving up in fear of ovary death in the middle of the 1st track) and it took me about a month to scrounge up the courage to try it again. AND DAMN WAS I HAPPY WITH THAT. I still screamed and had to pause it, but I survived the CD and begged for more;;;

After listening to the CD on repeat for a while I caved and wanted more of this, until now unknown, seiyuu! And when I found out he was cast for a second volume in the series, I all of had a heart attack trying to get it... Sadly, NOT WHAT I HAD EXPECTED. The "Adult Kiss" left an impossibly high bar for everything of his there after and the writing/casting for the character in the second release, which was NOT a continuation of the Adult Kiss one, left me reeling in shock and confusion. He was a jittery, happy, high pitched kind of character and I had the strangest look on my face. I didn't finish it. Didn't like it. I had to listen to the "Adult Kiss" CD on repeat a few dozen times to cleans the 'taste' from my brain... And any of his CDs since still haven't left that same deeply held impression and love as his "KISSxKISS Collections" volume 1 CD had. Not that his other things weren't good, I like his funny characters too. But I still look longingly at the CD and wish for more...

And so ends my short-lived Fujiwara Keiji addiction. I have since tried to convert a few friends to it, but to no long-lived success. Which is fine, it's not everyone's cup of tea, I just wish I had someone who had that same lasting impression to understand my FEELS. BECAUSE THESE FANGIRL FEELS ARE INTENSE YO. Okay, I'm done rambling now...

30 Day Drama CD Challenge - Day 16

Voltage Inc.'s "Be My Princess" drama CD has got to be one of the funniest I've listened to. You have all of these big name seiyuus together on this CD where they're princes of different countries and come together for one reason or another in the tracks. My favorite being an AU take on the characters, where they're now your brothers and they have to help you finish your homework before you race off to school. The varying personalities clash and cooperate well in the CD to the point that I'm just laughing and getting such a kick out of their chaos.

Another one would have to be the ANIMATE tokuten CD for "Shinsengumi Mokuhiroku Wasurenagusa" where the guys are all together for over an hour of drunken chaos. They have competitions with who can seduce you the best, Yamazaki gets drunk all of 30 seconds into the CD, Yamazaki makes comments about Okita's naked body, and it's just drunken fun with all of the guys having their turn to impress you and I just get such a kick out of listening to them all together for once! If this is any insight into the seiyuus performances and the story's writing, I'm looking forward to the "Shinsengumi Kekkonroku Wasurenagusa" tokuten CDs this next time around! Especially since there's a "Host Club" AU from ANIMATE and "sleeping together" individual tracks from Rejet!

30 Day Drama CD Challenge - Day 14

Hmmm... I'm not very familiar with multi-seiyuu otome drama CDs. And the few I've listened to with multiple characters tend to be voiced by the same seiyuu for all of them (LOL Morikawa Toshiyuki's Date CDs)... I think most of the seiyuus seem to have friendly and fun bonds with many other seiyuus. Again, I'm not too familiar with seiyuus in general, especially their private lives or public events and such. But I think seiyuus that can joke and laugh together are the ones most comfortable together and fun. And those that have worked together on a series with a lot of success and continued developments, like with Hakuouki. Sorry, I don't really know;;;

30 Day Drama CD Challenge - Day 13

I think it was Genyouki volume 2 Ookami no Iinazuke (Wolf's Fiance) with Maeno Tomoaki. It was the first Maeno otome drama CD I'd listened to and was a Taisho era story which I wasn't all too familiar with and had expected something particularly difficult to follow with old Taisho era plots (status differences etc)... but it wasn't. It was a period setting but with a paranormal twist and a fairly simple but extremely sweet plot.

I also really fell in love with Maeno's performance and his sexy deeper voice for his "okuri-ookami" character version. It drew me in instantly and I fell head over heels for both him and the story. It was the first real addiction to a different seiyuu than Morikawa had as Yamazaki in the Wasurenagusa series. I still listen to Maeno's Genyouki frequently because I just love the character's personality and his voice performance continues to make me swoon~ It was due to this that I became extremely interested in Maeno Tomoaki. When he started making more appearances in the otome world, I was ecstatic! Ahhhhh~ Such a perfect voice and great story to be first introduced to Maeno with!!
