described as peaceful birds, but I have seen quite a different behavior. They seem to be hungry. All the time. And they do not want to share. What looks like maybe a couple that is getting cosy here is two birds each trying to maintain dominance over the food bowl. I do love them for their goofiness and their love for the camera. They are like a well-tanned nudist couple with a preference for 70’s eye shadow that shows up for spontaneous visits.
This is my new favorite bird! I wonder if he is coming back tomorrow, but I am thinking about a name for him right now. Such a gorgeous goofball, I am in love!
The MoDos know what they’re doing when there’s a camera near.
if this young Red-bellied Woodpecker is a boy or a girl, but it seems to love the camera feeder - it comes for snacks every day. Red-bellied Woodpeckers are beloved regular visitors in my yard, but the babies can be kind of elusive. This is the first year, that a youngster is not camera shy, and I absolutely love it. Also just as much a goofball as the parents :D
and she cracks me up! In the middle photo she saw another Hummingbird approaching. I am really enjoying it that their activity has picked up. This almost feels normal.
One thing I love about Grackles is that they can be equally intimidating and goofy. This one was about to get ready to puff up, and the roundness cracks me up.
The constant hogging of the camera feeder bowl is paying off for the MoDos. They have become absolute experts in exquisite posing.
This Dove took a sun bath in the seed dish today, including a preening session. I am thinking about adding small, individual dishes to my main feeder pole so that I get a chance of getting the spring migrants on camera without a Dove hogging it.

Bird pics are a bit like seasonal fruit. These are plentiful currently, so here’s another dose of Blue Jay.
Peanut is a great sampler, he not only tried his namesake but also cracked acorns.
A Mourning Dove, unhappy about food that is too big for it to swallow. Yesterday, I put the platform feeder back out in hopes they would go there instead of the camera. Then there were about 20 again. I guess the platform will go back in. Sigh.
On a sidenote, don’t they look like naked, tanned people of larger proportions?
