“Imagination” 13”x15” acrylic & gold-leaf on panel, 2021 ✨ original painting and prints available in my Etsy Shop, link in bio Inspired ideas are like gilded fish, gauzy and ostentatious, in fluid perpetual movement. They may stir us from deep sleep with their iridescence, or distract us from our mundane chores with an elusive and enchanting glamour. If only we could capture one and keep it in a bowl to illuminate our comparatively grey reality. Alas, they are fickle and slippery, mysterious and unfettered, and their genius cannot be held, only borrowed. They will never belong to us as they are the jewels of life herself and are as fleeting as the sparkles of sun on the ocean. We may attempt to hook one of these ethereal fish as it flutters by, however the best we mortals can do is drape our creativity along their luminous wakes. If we are successful in this, our earthly work will carry echoes of the buoyancy and transcendence of these golden muses, and thus appear suspended by some extraordinary spirit. Hence, the delight that shines from us when we experience these artworks will be imbued with enough genius to lure more inspiration close. This way we might again be dazzled awake by their brilliance and set to motion in our own creativity.
