From our executive director, Lois Anderson: After thoughtful consideration, counsel, and prayer, I have made the decision to postpone the Oregon March for Life. There is always a level of unpredictability that is a part of this event. Counter-protesters and others have tried to disrupt it, thankfully without success. However, the safety of our advocates, staff, and volunteers has and will continue to be our primary concern. Not only are cases of COVID-19 on the rise in Oregon, tensions are also. We have seen some very unsettling incidents at our own capitol as well as at the nation’s Capitol. Fringe elements on both sides of the political spectrum have been turning orderly events into dangerous spectacles. The Oregon March for Life is not only a protest of Oregon’s radical abortion laws but also serves as a peaceful memorial for the 61 million lives lost to legal abortion. It would be tragic to have the event co-opted by people who want to push their own political agendas. Worse still if, in their struggle, our innocent advocates were hurt. The weight of responsibility I feel is tremendous. Trust me when I say I did not make this decision lightly. I know how important it is for our advocates to stand in opposition to abortion. It is our hope that we can reschedule the event to the end of the 2021 legislative session, sometime in the spring. We also hope to hold a virtual event on Saturday, January 23 in place of the March. More details to come. In the meantime, we are going forward with our annual conference, Together We Advocate, on March 6 at Rolling Hills Church in Tualatin. Please endeavor to join us. Thank you, Dr. Goodrich, for leaving a legacy that protects life, especially those of conjoined twins. Dr. Goodrich was an Oregon native. Known for his kindness, he was thrust into the spotlight in 2004 when he operated on Carl and Clarence Aguirre, twins from the Philippines who shared about 8 centimeters of brain tissue. In 2016, Goodrich led a team of 40 doctors in a 27-hour surgery at Montefiore Medical Center in the Bronx to separate Anias and Jadon, who were 13 months old when they were separated. https://www.instagram.com/p/B-YNw8QDuR9/?igshid=naj0nbd5bwkn

The NECA-IBEW union is now providing fantastic pregnancy benefits for their members. A pregnant woman who stops working within 13 weeks prior to the doctor-certified projected due date will be paid $800 per week in time loss benefits. Disability is not a requirement, and the member’s health care will be paid without reducing her hour bank. These benefits will also continue 13 weeks after the birth of the child, for a maximum of 26 weeks of benefits. Now if only we could get NECA-IBEW to stop funneling millions of dollars to abortion-supporting political candidates... https://www.instagram.com/p/B9j_maKl2LD/?igshid=15yo3hliyazhv
Our final general session speaker is Dr. Anthony Levatino. He performed over 1,200 abortions in the early part of his career, 100 late-term. Dr. Levatino about his final late-term abortion: “I finally looked, really looked. And I saw the stack of arms and legs and didn’t see my patient’s glorious right to choose...I saw someone’s son or daughter...t occurred to me in that moment that I was the type of person who if someone came to me and said, ‘Here is $800 to kill my son or daughter,’ that I would, with no hesitation, say, ‘Sure, I’ll do that.’” https://www.instagram.com/p/B9K-OgulpdX/?igshid=990ezp8alr63
