the endings are often a little bit gory

This be Orb. I don't bite. 32 and just trying to do something with the time I have left. I post a lot of different stuff, but it almost always relates to animation in some way or another.

Finally revealing my Unpopular Opinion:

I had been feeling bad about it, but now that I know I'm not the only one who thinks it, I'm not afraid to say it. Tim Burton's movies have been a huge letdown recently. Corpse Bride was the last time I ENJOYED his work! Alice in Wonderland was probably the greatest letdown I've ever HAD from Disney or Tim Burton, for numerous reasons! At least I KNEW Dark Shadows was going to bomb big-time. THAT'S why, when everyone asks "Oh, you'll probably see Frankenweenie, right?", I replied with nothing but a resounding "NO," simply because I don't want to waste my time and money on something I knew would be less than satisfying.

"Both films are being sold as Halloween treats, but Frankenweenie is the rotten apple. It represents the excesses of Burton’s success (especially after his brutally unimaginative Alice in Wonderland). Burton seems to have lost that sense of humorous whimsy which turned his early work about lonely, eccentric, death-haunted boys into satires on both normalcy and sappiness." --'Frankenweenie vs Paranorman' from CityArts.info

After seeing the wonder that is Paranorman, I HIGHLY doubt Frankenweenie could live up to its sheer greatness. But everyone would likely have thought the exact opposite. The problem is, I don't know if Tim Burton is losing his touch, or I'm somehow growing out of that semi-gothic, black-and-white, "creepy is cool" phase. I never THOUGHT it was a phase, but I don't want to think that Tim Burton isn't going to create anything as great as he's already made in the past, either!

:(

"The light has gone out in his recent films, and this big-budget Frankenweenie loses any sense of innocence."

James and the Giant Peach

Went and saw it at the Rose tonight. Absolutely WONDERFUL. I mean, they can't sing to save their lives, but every single character, even the narrator and the puppeteers, were absolutely AMAZING. If tomorrow wasn't the last night it was playing, I'd likely see it again. ;)

But, to be honest, I definitely prefer the Tim Burton movie. The book was always a fave, but the movie will always be the best.

The only thing that really got me was... well, after having seen the movie hundreds of times, I always shipped Centipede and Ms. Spider, because it was the super obvious otp, right? Well, after seeing the play... strangely, I think I might ship Centipede and Earthworm! How crazy is that? I mean, in the movie, the main opposition and tension occurred between Centipede and the Old Grasshopper!

...I feel like I just bored a bunch of people to death. Whoops.

gonna go see a play at the Rose tomorrow. :3

I'm supposed to see one for my theatre class, and then quickly say what it's about for about ten seconds... and now that there's only 2 weeks left of classes, I figured I'd better get on it.

And it turns out James and the Giant Peach will be playing at the Rose Theatre! And I haven't gone to the Rose in YEARS...

The only downside is... the place will be flooded with little kids from school field trips or Girl Scouts or whatever. ...because that's the only reason people typically ever GO to the Rose... I mean, expect for me, but that's different.

AND THEY HAVE PUPPETS. I like puppets. <3

What my movie collection says about ME

If you looked through my movie collection (what I brought with me when I moved, that is), you would probably be able to tell a lot about me, without actually having to know me.

Here's a quick look-through:

-VeggieTales

-MST3k/RiffTrax

-Shoujo Anime

-Animated Films

-Tim Burton movies

-Movies with John Cusack in them

-Movies with Freddie Highmore in them

-Muppets movies

-Documentaries/History Films

I think it says I'm extremely immature, in love with cartoon characters, Tim Burton, and puppets, and that I'm very boring when I'm not.

The end.
