the endings are often a little bit gory

This be Orb. I don't bite. 32 and just trying to do something with the time I have left. I post a lot of different stuff, but it almost always relates to animation in some way or another.

What's top 10 all time favorite cartoon shows?

Oh, gosh, put me on the spot, why don’tcha...

All-time favorite cartoon shows, so not including animated movies? (But maybe including anime and web series??)

Okay, I’m gonna say...

10. Bravest Warriors

9. VeggieTales (before they changed the animation style)

8. The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya

7. Grojband

6. Rugrats

5. Ed, Edd & Eddy

4. Danny Phantom

3. Gravity Falls

2. Haikyuu!!

1. Over the Garden Wall

Honorable Mentions go to Star vs the Forces of Evil, Detective Conan, and Steven Universe, for being amazing in everything but they’ve always been marked just below my faves list...for some reason or another.

How to Watch The OVER THE GARDEN WALL Premiere Tonight:

If you have access to Cartoon Network through cable or satellite, try going to their LIVE TV feature online or in the app! This feature only works if you provide your cable or satellite account information to log in!

Tune in to your favorite TV screen and flip to Cartoon Network at 7/6c tonight to watch the premiere! However, the season pass gives you access to all the episodes right away, and it's a great series to watch all in one go if you have the chance! Buying the series will show your love and support in the best way, so be sure to purchase it if you can!

If you've exhausted all these options, and you've just got nowhere else to turn, then I suggest taking a quick little skip on over to my livestream! Individual links will be sent out on tumblr and twitter for each livestream! Be sure to check back here or bookmark THIS LINK to make sure you don't miss out!

As of right now, this livestream channel has a 50-viewer limit. What this means is that once there are 50 viewers in the stream, it will kick out anyone who tries to enter it during the live recordings (11am, 5pm, and midnight). You would still be able to watch any queued clips from the livestream, you just won't be able to chat. I doubt I will reach this limit, but if I do reach this limit within the first day of the premiere, I will upgrade my account to allow for more viewers!

If you have Cartoon Network, please try to watch the premiere on your own television, watch online or through the apps on a device, or record it on your DVR! Every household watching the show counts as a view for the network, and the better the ratings for this show, the better the chances we'll get more amazing shows done this way! Be sure to support the release as much as you can!

iTunes released Over the Garden Wall episodes early! Be sure to go and buy the Season Pass, for only $10! You can also download the first episode for free, but the episodes are not currently available for individual purchase. Buying them as a set saves you money anyway! You can also purchase a $10 Season Pass on Amazon Instant Video!

Livestream Rules:

Chatrooms are SPOILER-FREE during the 11am and 5pm Streams! The premiere week livestreams have an available chatroom and are meant to be SPOILER-FREE during this week. If you are seen blatantly revealing spoilers, you will be reminded to stop, but after one warning, you will be banned! No spoilers! If you want to talk spoilers, do it here on tumblr where it can be properly tagged, or wait until the MIDNIGHT STREAMS, which will be SPOILER chats. All chats will be deleted after every stream so no spoilers will accidentally show up in the next one.

Respect one another in the chatrooms! This is a public livestream with an available chatroom feature. You don't have to use the chat, but if you do, I ask that you are polite and considerate. The chat automatically censors cursewords, but any excessive cursing, spoilers, or spamming will be banned. Also, no trolling/hate towards the show or its viewers will be tolerated.

Please don't record my stream on your own computer! If you can't afford to buy the episodes yourself, just send me a message on tumblr with a reason to why I should give you a downloadable version of the episodes, and I'll send them to you privately. I want everyone to support the release, but I understand that not everyone is equipped to do so. If you're using it to enjoy the show yourself, share with family and friends, or to make content (like gifsets or music videos), then let me know!

Talk about the show! The chat is there to discuss the miniseries, so that's what I want you to use it for! But also be sure to talk about how much you love the show on your social network, from tumblr and twitter to facebook and youtube! The more love you show for it online, the more popular it will get! Do everything you can to show Cartoon Network that we LOVE Over the Garden Wall!

so last night, i couldn't stop thinking about how there are so many cartoons that get away with stuff they really shouldn't these days

i mean, it's one thing to go back to a show from before the 80s or 90s and go "ooooohhhhhhhhh did you hear that???" because editing and censorship was lazy and the companies didn't expect parents to actually NOTICE what their kids were watching, so if they snuck in jokes that would go over a toddler's head, who cares, right? but these days, it's different because people actually realize that KIDS ARE SMART and they REPEAT THINGS and copy stuff from tv, regardless of age, and parents are also more quick to blame a cartoon for something rather than actually do their job as a parent, but ANYWAY

yeah

the amount of stuff that still gets out there is incredible

like

somebody needs to do in-depth study on this because it seriously freaking fascinates me

i mean, we've heard straight from alex hirsch that disney is weird about what they allow and don't allow on gravity falls (like the "bottles will be spun" thing from sdcc) and everyone remembers when craig bartlett laughed his head off when the nickelodeon producers realized mr. simmons was gay in the thanksgiving special

there's so much out there and i just

I WANT TO GET BEHIND THE SCENES AND SEE WHAT THE EDITORS AND PRODUCERS AND EVEN THE WRITERS WERE THINKING

somebody put it there in the first place, thinking it was OKAY

and then somebody APPROVED IT, THINKING IT WAS OKAY

THEN SOMEBODY VOICED IT, THINKING IT WAS OKAY

AND THEN SOMEBODY ANIMATED IT, THINKING IT WAS OKAY

AND THEN SOMEBODY AT THE NETWORK STILL APPROVED IT, THINKING IT WAS OKAY

something as simple as... as "butt wipe" being guy and maz's favorite show (because let's just make it OBVIOUS that butt wipe is actually jackass gawd) went through so many people to actually be put on a television set for a child to see

something about that is truly incredible, and maybe even scary

i need to know more

also

instead of using Hiccup, Toothless, Coraline, Dipper, and Mabel,

I should create my own characters

but since they are meant to be tv show characters... I should create a tv show (or a few) like Spongebob has Mermaid Man, or like how Gravity Falls has Ducktective and stuff like that

It'd be a lot of work, but I bet I could do that

Hiccup is always a 'voice of reason' character, giving advice and helping Alaska figure out what to do and say

and Coraline (apparently she scared everyone who read the script by being masochistic) is somewhat the opposite of Hiccup, purposefully pushing Alaska down the wrong path, giving her the option to do the wrong thing, which she typically doesn't do (thankfully)

someone mentioned that Hiccup and Coraline act like Alaska's "angel and devil on her shoulders" and I can see how they could think that

I could probably recreate characters that are similar to those two, it would just take a little work and research

But what about Toothless? Should he just be a pet that the Hiccup-like character has? I like the idea that something as absurd and unusual as a FREAKIN DRAGON is what she plays with, and feeds scraps to under the table, and curls up with when she goes to sleep at night

it's cute, but hilarious because it seems ridiculous, BUT NOT TO HER

maybe I could just make him a dragon, or something like STEVE THE GIANT CHAMELEON (from phineas and ferb, you know?)

idk

gotta have twins, too

I had an episode idea where Alaska also meets a pair of twins at school, and maybe Sadie and Saskia (from DoppleGanger Chronicles) show up, or maybe Dipper and Mabel? maybe Sam'n'Eric??

I like the idea of Alaska making REAL friends over time, but never NOT using her imaginary friends to help her in real-life situations

you know, I honestly wrote this just because I wanted to draw a girl character (because I had been drawing too many oncelers lately and wanted to get out of drawing boys and back to drawing girls)

her being autistic came as a surprise, more than anything, and then the idea that this show would be FOR autistic children was just a pipe dream

but you could never have Hiccup (3D animation? Dreamworks?) and Coraline (Stop-motion animation? LAIKA?) and Mabel (2D animation? Disney?) all in the same program. They just can't coexist, because they are TOO different.

But with the idea that I make up shows within a show and create those characters' personalities through Alaska's imagination, I could create something real, tangible, and I could actually MAKE IT HAPPEN

that's so weird

I mean, yes, this is the career path I want to go down

but it never occurred to me that I might actually create a story that could actually SELL

but would it really sell? Maybe I could get PBS to buy it

i'm gonna work on this

just to see where it goes, you know?

if it doesn't make it, oh well

but if it does? That'd be really neat. :)

what the heck? a report on my local news station just made nasty remarks about the character Sam Puckett because she's a "bully" and it's bad for little kids to watch. They keep bringing up the movie Mean Girls, shows like Victorious, iCarly, A.N.T. Farm, Kim Possible, Peanuts cartoon, and several others. I know you need to get rid of bullying, but don't blame television. Geez.
