I have like, a small flicker of hope for the revamped version of the Shaina Taub/Elton John *Devil Wears Prada* musical because it’s clear from Shaina’s work on *Suffs* that she’s willing to kill her darlings and compromise on ideas if it will help the show work better for the audience, which *Devil* needs badly because from the reviews the Chicago production got, basically none of their original approach landed well so there’s a lot of work to be done.
Do y’all ever think about how absolutely bananas Lake Baikal is? It’s the world’s largest lake by volume. It’s the world’s deepest lake. It’s the world’s oldest lake. It contains nearly a quarter of the planet’s surface freshwater. It’s a rift lake, caused by the earth’s crust literally coming apart at the seams. It would be deeper than the Mariana Trench except the bottom is covered in a sediment layer that is miles deep. There are trains that have sunk to the bottom because Russia tried to build a railroad over the ice. The entire lake surface freezes for half the year. The lake is a focal point of multiple indigenous cultures. The lake has its own species of seal, which is the only exclusively freshwater pinniped in the world. There are unique ice formations formed by convection from the depths of the lake. There are 330 inflowing rivers.
I dunno, Lake Baikal sure is a thing.

and the Lake Baikal oilfish, which is the deepest-living freshwater fish, and has a lot of similar adaptations to deep sea fishes

since it's the lead up to halloween i figured i would continue the now annual tribute picture tradition. here's BB as Fiona and Clarice as Daniella from ps2 classic Haunting Ground. BB is having trouble doing puzzles with the dog. i will do some more if i have time.

I am so stressed that theres a person swimming right near these massive multi ton animals who are all colliding with each other at random. One wrong move and I feel like they could accidentally empty you like a toothpaste tube.
I don't know where it came from, but several years ago this idea popped into my head unbidden, and for some reason it tickles me. I don't know if it's funny, but I like it and I made it into a zine, I hope you enjoy it.
It lays out really nicely as 3-up spreads on A4 paper, so you can print, staple and fold it, then cut it into 3 zines. It made it really easy to print up 20 of them to trade at this art social thing I went to

I think liking monsterfucking makes sense from an evolutionary perspective because if the Earth gets invaded by aliens that want to use humans as sex slaves, people whose brains are wired to get off on that will be able to adapt quicker.
From here. If you think arachnids with long legs are just scary please watch this solifugid dig her nest (or try to) like SUCH a goofy little person creature. Look how she shoves dirt with her mouth and then gives it a little pat. Is she even making any progress?!
Fun fact: Camel Spiders aka Sun Spiders aka Solifuges are not true spiders because they lack the ability to produce webs, and their legs are arranged more like scorpions than spiders.
They’ve also been commonly attributed as having incredibly deadly venom, but actually the opposite is true. Their venom is pretty much harmless to humans and they rarely bite anyway. If you do get bit by one, the wound will likely cause you more problems than the venom.
And as a final fun fact, the Frostbite Spiders in Skyrim are heavily inspired by Solifuges.
More than that; they have no venom at all! Just very strong jaws for chomping up tough beetles, scorpions, centipedes, even lizards. They're the tyrannosaurs of arachnids, putting all the points they can into a huge heavy head and bite force!!
