when ixtjs actually talk #1

ISTJ: I wonder, what is simple to you?

INTJ: Nothing.

ISTJ: That sounds horrible.

INTJ (amused): I bet it does to you. What is not simple to you?

ISTJ (after giving it a little thought): professional issues as to what I want to do in life. Should I aim high? Should I aim low?

INTJ: That’s quite complex and deep. Those questions have never crossed my mind.

ISTJ: How so?

INTJ: I can only aim high. Knowing that I’m not trying my best is depressing to me.

ISTJ: Yeah, but I meant economic and professionally wise. I think if you go for less ambitious goals in those fields you’re more likely to have more free time and hence be happier.

INTJ: How does having more free time automatically mean being happier?

ISTJ: How does it not?

ixtjs being ixtjs

INTJ and ISTJ are deciding on short-term study plans.

ISTJ: So, I’m going to the gym, I can meet you afterwards to go back to the library?

INTJ: That would be the reasonable thing to do. I need some workout, too, I might go to a class. How long do you need?

ISTJ: An hour and a half top.

INTJ: Well I can be back at 8, is that too late?

ISTJ: 8pm is so late I might be dead by then.

INTJ went back to the library at 8:00 pm and this overachiever idiot was still there.

INTJ: Should I even be surprised?

After more studying, they find themselves making plans for the next day (ESTJ’s and ESTP’s absence is quite visible in the lack of social plans and spontaneity, respectively).

INTJ: See you tomorrow then.

ISTJ: Yes, I will be here at 9. Actually, it’s my birthday tomorrow so I might arrive at 10.

INTJ: ...Please tell me that is not your only birthday treat. This is so depressing.

ISTJ: Why not? It’s a good one.

INTJ: “It’s my birthday tomorrow, and my celebration consists of one extra hour of sleep?”

ISTJ: Sleeping is awesome. Sleeping makes me happy.

INTJ: You’re so... deeply simple.

ISTJ (after laughing a lot): Should I take it as a compliment?

INTJ: I can change it to ‘simple yet accidentally deep’.

ISTJ (ignoring INTJ, with a big smile on his face): I am gonna take it as a compliment. Thank you!

INTJ: Sure, whatever. You’re very welcome.

intp on intellect

INTJ: Is there anyone you consider as intelligent as you? This might seem like banter but I am completely serious.

INTP: Appart from lacking modesty, yeah, I think it is a very serious thing and I’ve thought of it way more times than a normal person should.

INTJ: Any conclusions?

INTP: Well I consider ENFP as intelligent as me, but only because her train of thought and deduction is similar to mine. When I first met you, I thought the same happened to me with you, but then I realised that our way of analysing is quite different, as much as our conclusions are often alike.

INTJ: What about ISTJ?

INTP: Well, yeah, I consider ISTJ intelligent, but in a different way. Practical, very pragmatic intelligence. Not so interesting.

INTJ: And INFJ?

INTP: Oh no, let’s not talk about emotional intelligence. Makes me feel dizzy.

When INTP turns hippy vs. INTJ

INTP and INTJ are walking back from INFJ’s house. INTJ can’t stop sneezing because hay fever sucks.  INTJ: If I had to be allergic to something of course it had to be spring-related. INTP: How so? INTJ:  I hate spring, I always have. And it just gets worse throughout the weeks. Spring symbolises the end of something, it is so depressing.  INTP: Shouldn’t it feel like a beginning?  INTJ: No. Finals come, it’s the end of the academic course and yet another year that was not as good as it could be. Autumn on the other hand... INTP: But spring is indeed all about new beginnings, a new cycle.  INTJ:... INTJ: Whut.  INTP: It’s a new natural cycle! Everything blooms, the days are longer, nature resurfaces. INTJ: (The fuck?). I don’t care about any of that compared to my yearly schedule.  INTP: Everything looks beautiful and you’re just there. So grumpy.

Yep. I'm INTJ

[Original question: anonymous asked:Guuuys what can I do if I feel that I lost touch with my Ni?]——–

Ni is a perceiving function, it’s about how you take information from the external world. Ni in particular operates  like a background processor that works with this information, focusing on depth and analysing it to its core.

You might be wondering why I’m writing this. Something very important about Ni is that it operates mainly in your subconscious, that’s the reason why Ni doms experience these moments of insights and sudden ideas; Ni’s work happens hiddenly and the INxJ normally is not aware of these thoughts and conclusions until they are decently structured.

Your Ni is there, very present. Every time you are noticing and unconsciously analysing the external elements, that’s your Ni working;  everything you hear, see, and perceive happens through your Ni.

In case this explanation is not enough to feel more in touch with its omnipresence in your mind, here are some ways I can think of that might help you recognise it:

  • You’re probably in a constant/ semi-permanent mental state of analysis. Try to be aware of it. Your Ni is already doing the work, just try to focus your attention on your mental process [I’m not sure why I always enlist the most difficult task in the first place. Sorry, kinda].
  • If this sounds crazy, it might be because you’re not particularly in touch with your thought process at the moment. The answer is more introspection (that’s part of the INTJ trademark anyway); more quality alone time.
  • It might also be the case that your Ni is not having ‘quality food’ [what the hell, dude]. Do you constantly feel very mentally tired and bored? Do you miss the adrenaline rush of solving puzzles and problems? Your mind needs activity, INFJ solve like half of my crisis when she explained to me that physical exhaustion is cured with rest whereas mental fatigue needs activity.
  • If your surroundings are not intellectually rich, that is no excuse for you to starve your mind. If you enjoy reading Philosophy, that’s honestly the best tool I can think of. [I’ll just add here that in case you’re interested in Philosophy after all, just drop us a message and the INFJ admin nerd will probably recommend you a bunch of her reading material].
  • It doesn’t have to be a particular field. Try reading and analysing moderately complex texts that activate your reasoning and analytical skills. If you’re not into Literature altogether, Science should do its work too. Solve Math problems, read on Physics, anything that activates your mind.
  • Go for walks. This might sound weird but half of the best ideas I’ve had have been while walking alone (those “aha” moments we were referring to.

All these ideas are not directly connected to Ni, but focused on activating your mind in a way that helps you be more aware of your Ni dom’s working process. I think Ni is probably the most implicit of the 8 cognitive functions, but using your Te and focusing your attention on your inner mental process should help you be more aware of your Ni and make you feel in touch with it again. I hope this helps, thanks for asking!– INTJ

INTJ: Oh, hello, insomnia. Long time no see.

INTJ: *After a few hours ends up sending ENTP brother a long vocabulary list of various adjectives as an alternative to using the word “very”*.

ENTP: … ENTP: Have you seriously woken me up for this.

INTJ: Oh, didn’t mean to.

ENTP: It is 4 freaking 30 am.

INTJ: I know?

ENTP: Isn’t it too early for being such a nerd?

INTJ: It is never too early to enlarge and improve your lexicon! :D

ENTP:… ENTP: Jesus Christ.

INTJ: I also have a list of pagan deities, wanna see?

intp (distant) vs. intj (cold)

My phone decided only INFJ was responding so here’s part 2 for the last ask ffs.

Why INTJs are referred to as cold and INTPs as distant.

INTP INxPs live inside their heads more than any other introvert. And it makes so much sense since Ne is the least extroverted of all E functions. Extroverted intuition is all about ideas and theories rather than concrete objects of the outside world. The result is that they come across as if they were elsewhere very consistently.

INTJ On the other hand, we have auxiliary Te here. Extraverted thinking is in fact very concerned about the outside world; as long as the INTJ is collecting observable data from the world for posterior analysis, they won’t look distracted at all, but I guess it is to some degree evident that they are using all these elements (human behaviour included) as objective facts. If that doesn’t come across as cold, I don’t know what will.  (Sorry for the splitted answer and thanks for the cool question @intp-moments. I’d love to read the thoughts of other INTxs about this).  – INTJ

INTJs are referred to as cold, while INTPs distant -what's the difference?

Avatar

So much sense. Okay, this is my reasoning for this, and I am a very silly human, so this my be very silly conclusion:

Both INTJ and INTP are disconnected. However, the object of their disconnection makes them seem either cold or distant:

- INTJ looks disconected from feelings and therefore are considered cold.

- INTP looks disconnected from our reality and therefore are considered distant.

There are distant INTJs and cold INTPs for sure, but I think they are defined better as cold nerds (INTJ) and distant freaks (INTP)

How do I live in a world where I'm completely surrounded by feelers or sensors. Like not that it's bad but it's more than I just stand out a lot and it's like, I've got friends who have families with newborn babies and stuff and they show it and everyone's drooling over them and I have to fake it otherwise people stare at me like I'm insane like, is it that weird that I just don't like to do that and that I rarely notice changes like people wearing a new shirt becuase in lost in thought??

I completely get the struggle. As an xNTx, it can be very draining to be in situations that have S or F traits, especially if they involve too much extroverting because it enhances these traits. I also get the “standing out” frustration when all you want to do is mind your own thing. I think too rigid behaviours are not something to strive for and people should try to adapt to others to a certain (limited) degree. We’re different, we don’t work the same way and we’re not interested in the same issues. Why do people have to point it out all the time, making others stand out as if it was not already obvious for that person in the first place. Let’s just get over it.

To answer your first question in particular on “how to live in a world surrounded by F and S”:

  1. The previous remark on trying to get a little adapted is also applicable to you. It’s okay to show a little more interest than you feel if it’s something that is really important to others.
  2. It is also okay not to do so. If you don’t feel comfortable with yourself because you think it’s too fake, then don’t.
  3. Sometimes you will feel like you’re different to everyone else in a room. That’s okay. Try to internally validate yourself. I’m sure you wouldn’t want to think differently and your opinion about who you are is the only one that truly matters.
  4. If you end up feeling lonely after these situations, try to engage in activities that validate your own preferences.
  5. Then try to talk to someone with whom you can relate more. It doesn’t even have to be friends from your surroundings.
  6. You can always message me talking about the most F and S stuff you’ve been through that day and we can talk about how different we perceive it from everyone else.

I hope this helps. Your story with the baby pictures is so funny, especially for the way you were wording it. If you want to laugh at my own misadventures with xSFx situations in return, you can find it >here

Keep it up! – INTJ

  • Difficulty to compute feelings (we know, we know, ‘such a cliché’. Still true).
  • Allergies: stupidity, ignorance, illogical social rules.
  • “WHY do people refuse to THINK”.
  • Rich lexicon (xNTJs’ default mode, xNTPs’ show it when the situation is worth it).
  • Best debates between them, NFs are sometimes invited.
  • Would always choose knowledge over ignorance, even if it implies unhappiness.
  • “What do you mean it was offensive? It’s the truth!” (As a response to ENFJ).

I've heard that INTJ (f) and ENTP (m) - gender for either doesn't matter but I wanted to specify according to my current perspective - are among one of the best matches relationship-wise. I haven't really looked into why yet, so I was wondering if you both could give your two cents about it?

Does this explain my platonic obsession with ENTPs? I like to think of these types as the opposite sides of the same coin. I mean, Ni-Te-Fi-Se vs Ne-Ti-Fe-Si (?!! Anyone else thinks this speaks for itself?).

I love ENTP characters, especially when they are jerkish but still not complete assholes. I can’t say much more in regards to real life ENTPs, I’ve been thinking how surprising it is that I don’t have any ENTP close friends. But then there’s my brother, who competes with INFJ for the “no one has ever made me laugh this much” award.

PS All the yes to ENTP related observations. Thanks for submitting!
