Atlantis & Altea

Is it just me or does Altean history have a lot in common with the Atlantis legend?

An advanced civilization for its time, as well a ‘’lost civilization’’. You could even see the Castle ship as the ‘’sunken city’’ (Fun fact: in Plato’s work, Atlantis was a continent. ‘’City’’ was a bit of an understatement, but the idea of just one city remaining intact, even if it is lost, does fit the Castle ship). Atlantean and Altean is not very different qua spelling either. 

Even Allura’s white hair and markings remind me of Disney’s Atlantis: The Lost Empire’s Kida and her people. Sure, not all Alteans had white hair, but there were definitely markings involved. 

Other elements match as well- Disney’s Atlanteans have a very long lifespan because of the crystal shards, as do the Alteans, though their long lifespan is natural. 

The idea of Altea having inspired the Atlantis legend in-universe is awesome!
