Tsuna looked at himself in the mirror and scrutinized his appearance, “Are you sure this is going to work?”
“No,” Enma responded from where he was sitting on the bed, cross-legged.
Tsuna turned sharply towards Enma and walked over to him in a brisk pace before he put his hands on Enma’s broad shoulders, “Thank you for existing, sweetheart, and thank you for being the voice of reason I desperately need in this chaotic mess of a life I lead.”
“Don’t be so dramatic, Dame-Tsuna,” Reborn piped up, casually sipping his coffee, “Of course it’s going to work.”
“You have me dressed as Vongola Primo! How would they not notice that it’s me?!”
Reborn sniffed imperiously, “You were taught the fine arts of disguise under the hands of the world’s best master of disguise, moi.”
“That’s exactly what I’m worried about!”

“Need a ride, handsome?”
Enma baulked at the sight in front of him; there was Tsuna, seated in the driver’s seat of a car, with sunglasses on his face.
“What?”
Tsuna tilted his sunglasses down and peered at Enma from above their rim, “Want me to give you a ride, pretty boy?”
“You’re driving?” Enma asked, trepidation filling him.
“Of course.” Tsuna scoffed, as if the answer was very obvious.
Enma paled; he was going to die.

“And that’s the plan!” Tsuna beamed at Enma, who smiled shyly back before he ducked his head.
“You got it?”
Enma nodded, and soon, he was pulled along by Tsuna’s hand clutching his own.
The two kids rushed as fast as they could, with the occasional stumbling and tripping, to the bridge in town.
Just like Tsuna had informed him before, there were stray cats under the bridge.
The two kids looked at each other before nodding in determination and looking back at the cats.
Hibari-kun’s birthday was coming up soon, and they were sure he’d love a cat.

“Would you like to have some of our specialty cookies, too?” Sawada Tsunahime, owner of the bakery, beamed at Adel and Enma while holding out a tray of heart shaped cookies, “They’re on the house!”
Adel carefully kept her face neutral and didn’t clutch boxes of sweets and deserts that she held just a little bit tighter, “No, thank you.” She subtly nudged Enma, in the shin with a foot.
“You’re drooling, Enma,” Adel hissed at her pseudo-little sister-slash daughter, before returning her attention to Tsunahime, “I’m afraid we’re on a strict budget today.”
“Oh.” Tsunahime’s bright expression dimmed a little before she forced it back up, “Maybe next time?”
“Maybe,” Adel responded neutrally and dragged Enma out of the shop.
“We’re on a strict budget?” Enma gave Adel a dubious look, “We’re never on a strict budget whenever we come to get sweets for your girlfriend and you know it.”
“I’m just looking out for you. You’re already a mess, no need to display how much of a love slave you are to Tsunahime.”
Enma sputtered.

Tsuna put the tray down and sighed.
“Failed? As expected.”
Tsuna jumped in place from shock and whirled around to meet a pair of gray eyes observing her with a detached expression.
“Hibari-san!” Tsuna hissed at her girlfriend and pouted, “Don’t surprise me like that again!”
“Or else what?” Hibari scoffed before striding forward and snagging the tray and eying the heart-shaped cookies, “No more cookies for me? That’s not going to work.”
Tsuna pouted harder, “Give me a break! Adel refused to take the cookies and dragged Enma out before I could convince her to take them!”
Hibari took a cookie and scrutinized it, “I told you before that Adel thinks you slip love potions into the things you make for Enma.”
“But I don’t!” Tsuna wailed, “They’re filled with love!”
Hibari raised an eyebrow, “You found a way to turn love into an ingredient? Wao.” Hibari followed her statement by chewing on the cookie.
“Don’t tease me!” Tsuna put her face in her hands, “Maybe I should have just made the cookies cat-shaped! Not even Adel could have dragged Enma-chan away from them then!”
Hibari made an interested sound and shoved another cookie into her mouth before sneaking off with the tray in hand.
“Hibari-san! Those are for Enma-chan!”

#24| Never (Have I Ever)

The group of classmates awkwardly shifted in place after the latest turn of ‘never have I ever’, waiting until the next turn, Kyoko’s, and what unholy secrets she may unearth.
Kyoko looked around the class and took note of the red blush on Tsuna’s face as he cradled the can of juice in his hands and appeared to contemplate throwing himself from the roof to avoid the embarrassment of living with the knowledge that people now knew he read R-18 doujins.
She pondered for a bit before speaking up, “Never have I ever made out with someone in this group.”
There was another awkward silence as no one touched their can of juice.
Tsuna’s blush intensified as he raised the can to his lips and took a sip.
Next to him, Enma hesitated for only a beat before reaching for his can and taking a sip as well.
Ah, Kyoko’s ever present smile dimmed slightly.
Didn’t mean to out you, Tsuna-kun, she thought, hiding a grimace.
And then Mount Gokudera erupted.

Enma raised the red hood in his hands and stared inquisitively at Tsuna who stared back.
“What’s the red hood for?”
Tsuna looked mock offended, “I’m almost insulted that you didn’t immediately think of Red Riding Hood and the Big Bad Wolf roleplay.”
Enma opened his mouth and closed it, looking thoughtful before he spoke up, “Tsuna. I know that I am a pervert but I’m not that creative.”
“That’s why I said ‘almost insulted’.”
“Does that mean that you eat my grandmother?”
“ENMA!”

Tsuna stepped out to get his car before stopping in place, the sight that greeted him stunning him momentarily.
Hibari stared at him stoically from where he was leaning against the door to the driver’s seat, arm draped on the hood.
Enma, who was draped on the hood, smiled at Tsuna, “You always drape yourself over our bikes, thought we’d return the favor.”
Tsuna was speechless.

Kyoya is Pretty At All TimesTM, gorgeous when he brushes his hair and becomes LORD MERCY when he does things like saving Takeshi in a total Shoujo manner (long story, my soulmate AU Growing Galaxies which will one day be posted but is currently still in progress- No, they’re not soulmates XD).
The adorable, you ask? I.W.P-chan and I have had conversations about this second to only a certain YOI duet we will one day write about. It mainly related to my Fergalicious fic (which is still in progress too, but I’ve got most of the stuff I actually need qua plot written out, so that’s good!) which is 001827, and features Kyoya trying to seduce them. Anyway, he tries the cute. It doesn’t work, but we agreed it would totally have been the most adorable thing ever if it hadn’t been deliberate (because Tsuna would totally con him into it and Hibari would be adorably confused and just- nose bleeds. Nosebleeds)
On The Broad and Enma’s height
Hi guys!
I’ve been mentioning The Broad a lot lately when talking about Enma and Cozart, so I thought I should make a post with an explanation to refer to when people ask!
So up first:
Enma’s Height In General
Enma is indeed the same height-ish as Tsuna in the manga, but he constantly hunches- trying to hide himself- which doesn’t help much with trying to guess his height. He’s definitely broader than Tsuna, though. They’re also fourteen, and boys, so they’re going to be growing for a while yet too.
Most of the foreign characters on KHR are portrayed as tall compared to the Japanese characters. For example: Squalo, Xanxus, Timoteo (if you take into account he’s an old man and has most likely already shrunken. The same counts for most of his guardians), Dino, etc.
(Notable exceptions: TYL Gokudera is one of the smaller guardians, despite being only ¼ Japanese. @aoife-has-fallen pointed out to me that this most likely was due to his time on the streets, where he would have had malnutrition during crucial periods of growth.
Strangely, Yamamoto is the tallest, with Hibari as the second tallest, despite their pure Japanese ancestry)
The ancestry of the Simon is not really clear- That their ancestors (the Simon’s first gen) were Italian is clear. That some of them have Japanese names is also clear, but then you have characters like Adelheid who’s got a Dutch/German name. Don’t ask me how she got that, especially when her last name is the typically Japanese “Suzuki”. Adelheid’s height seems to indicate she’s Italian, as she’s definitely the tallest woman in the series and probably also belongs to the tallest characters overall.
It’s a confusing thing, but in the end I just decided to say: “They’re mostly European” because Enma’s hair is red. This is no good evidence, as we all know manga hair colours, but I had to decide somehow.
On The Broad
This has a lot to do with the above explanation of height, just so you know.
After my whole thought process about Enma’s height and the Simon’s ancestry, @i-w-p-chan came with her alternate characterization Biker!Enma. And I went: Yes. 24-year-old Enma, shoulders like a closet (…Not sure if that’s the right idiom in English *rubs neck sheepishly*) and the leather jackets streching across that broad back.
Long story short, it became a thing were I imagined older Enma with broad shoulders, a broad face, a broad mouth and even broad hands!
And with Enma resembling his ancestor Cozart so much, Cozart caught The Broad too.
On Adult Enma Being Taller Than Hibari
Biker!Enma was incorporated into Fergalicious, a 001827 fic in the works, and @i-w-p-chan and I talked a lot (*cough*squealed*cough*) about the pairing. And she was like: I don’t get why people don’t ship this. Hibari can have TWO small animals!
And I went: Blue.exe has stopped working. Because I had visions of older Biker!Enma who was taller and broader than Hibari and still a little animal and my heart couldn’t contain it.
Ever since, any slightly older version of Tsuna has Tsuna only growing a little (because all his guardians except for Chrome tower over him *cackles*) and Enma slowly becoming a giant. Because he will somehow, even as a grown biker, be the cutest.
Two KHR Nurarihyon no Mago crossovers called "These Ghosts are Mine (You Can't Have Them)" and "One Wing (The Other Torn Off)". And a Naruto Nurarihyon no Mago crossover called "The Corners We Never Turn"

His view onhis grandpa- the only normal person inhis family- remains mostly unchanged.
(then heasks his grandpa about why he chose to live together with his friends, andgrandpa chokes and says: ‘’Well, that’snot quite what I would call my husbands.’’
That’s whenhe figures out his mother might not be the only one who tends to be a littlebit… obvious.
His grandpapats him on the head and says it’s only natural. ‘’There is the familyBlessing, the family Curse and then there’s the Normal-Until-Proven-Quite-Insanefactor in our lives!’’

The resemblance between Wakana and Nana couldn’t be ignored, as well the fact that she ‘’acts more like a yakuza wife’’ often. XD Also, young Rikuo discovering that no, his grandpa’s housemates ain’t housemates, they’re married. All of them. (I can’t resist 001827, okay?!)
One Wing (the Other Torn Off)
Byakuran has been killed, and he falls and he falls and he falls. His grin is poisonous, his breath is pain, and he screeches, cries, because life cost him a wing, and the phantom sensations of it still being there torture him like no end.
‘’The prodigal son returns,’’ his father says with a sigh when he sees him arrive, but he still cleans up the mess on his back and embraces him when he cries.
Zen is not a man who abandons his children in their time of need, no matter how they got here, no matter what they did.
He’s got a son to heal.

The Corners We Never Turn
Every year, when the sun goes down and the Night Parade starts, the crickets fall silent when they pass the great sakura tree. Perhaps they should’ve noticed, but Nurarihyon never stopped. Why do so, when there’s pandemonium to be had?

Long, long ago, Yokai were quite alike to humans. Ninja, they were called, those who awakened the power in their blood. The tainted, dark version of it created today often reminds Sakura of Sasuke, in his darkest days.
She misses him and Naruto, even after all these centuries.
You’d think cherry blossoms would die in winter, but hers never do.
A fic in which Orochimaru found a way to sustain himself forever, by way of sharing a soul. Using the unsuspecting (at the time thought weak) Sakura, he manages to create a loop- as long as one lives, the other won’t die. Only by dying simultaneously they would be dead permanently.
Time goes on, Orochimaru creates his children and sees them die, one after one. He himself being very traumatized by his parents’ death, doesn’t take well to this (Mitsuki, who lives a long life due to his heritage, eventually dies too. I’ve got a whole ‘’snap’’ scene for this in mind).
Eventually, he is changed until he becomes Hagoromo Gitsune. He (or she- I’ve always been a bit on the ‘’Orochimaru could be a pretty man, he could be on the non-binary side, he could be genderfluid’’ part, in this case, he’s genderfluid. The term ‘’he’’ and ‘’she’’ are both used- he just went mostly by ‘’he’’ as Orochimaru and goes with ‘’she’’ by the time he’s Hagoromo.
Anyway, of course he’s going to assist Seimei in his attempt for immortality! He doesn’t want to see another kid of his die!
Sakura, on the other hand, continues to do endless research into the medical arts- eventually extending this to senjutsu. She evolves too- the natural energy saturates her body to the point where she slowly begins to turn into a dual-natured creature (which shouldn’t surprise anyone, really, with her inner- and outer-), a yokai appearing as a sakura tree.
She watches over her descendants, which eventually produce Yohime, who has a throwback from Sakura’s healing abilities.
She continues watching over the Nura clan, who have no idea she’s there. And then there’s always this moment with the sakura tree, where the whole clan holds their breath for a second, but always, always, they walk past.
With bated breath, they await the moment Rikuo will become Lord Pandemonium- after all, is he not the one who melts into the Sakura tree, who greets it every morning and wishes it good night? Is he not the one whose Fear smells like blossoms, whose steps make flowers bloom?
…What of the Sakura tree, and the corners they never turn?

@totalmagpie sorry, I haven’t either ^^; I would like to remedy the situation (a.k.a write 001827 fics myself) but my current WIPs with 001827 are either one-shots still not finished, or multi-chapter fics that haven’t reached the 001827 part yet (like Revenge). ( @onceabluemoonwrites is with me in the same boat)
