My phone is now in korean and I understand nadaaaaaa
Gotta love productivity!!!
I was too tired to work on my new korean textbooks (what one of the other notebooks is for) so I decided learning cool new words from some of my favorite songs would be a fun way to study over break!
So far 2 days done with Euphoria and I’ve learned 21 new words!
Someone give me a reason to keep studying korean
Its so hard and I keep making myself take on more and more and even though this is my 4th language and you think I would’ve learned by now that motivation is super hard to come by-I’m struggling
I’ve made myself a “learning korean” playlist on youtube
(Imma have to keep updating it basically daily)
And it makes me want to cry LOL so I’m going to throw random bangtan bombs in there to make it better
Even after 3 languages it’s still so challenging
Anyone else who doesn’t like to tell others that they’re learning Korean because people will think you’re learning it because of some boys, and not because of the genuine interest in Korean language and culture that you developed alongside your interest in kpop?
Honestly most people assume I’m learning korean for kpop and that’s *partly* true but really it’s because I want to learn a new language and it’s smart to learn one you hear regularly. I also have a bunch of friends who are korean (again I know them cause of K-pop but..) so whenever they speak korean I feel left out-so they want me to learn too!
It’s really frustrating with my family but just keep in mind why you’re actually learning it and ignore them
I totally recognize that *partly*! I stumbled upon a korean drama once, found the differences in culture and themes in the movies/series very interesting and was wondering how I could learn more about the culture. First thing I found was a kpop group with a lot of content with english subs so I just started to watch that to get a glimpse of a side of korea (I of course know that an entertainment industry doesn’t reflect the real culture). But that’s how I fell in love with kpop. But before that I was interested in Asian/Eastern philosophy, even doubted to take a course in it and have some books about it at home. also I already really wanted to learn a language that did not use the usual a-z alphabet that I know. Doubted what language to learn but did not got the feel for any specific language. Well and since I got so much exposure to korean, started to love the language, and had a growing interest in the general culture, it was just really logical to learn Korean. So kpop does play a role and it motivates me to learn but it’s not the sole reason that I put in the effort to know a whole language.
*virtual high five*
Exactly! I found kpop by mistake lol but considering the plethora of Korean I hear daily (from music, variety shows, my friends), the fact that I speak Japanese, and that I wanted to learn a new language while I still am in school-Korean was only the choice.
And no mom it’s not to talk to my bias because I ever think I’m going to meet them.
But that may slightly encourage me to study harder even though that’s not the reason.
But yeah dw I totally understood your point and just wanted to contribute haha

If by some miracle you instantly became fluent in 3 foreign languages, what would they be? This includes various forms of sign language and Braille. I’d choose Spanish and French for media consumption and Russian because communism, lol.
