TRUE == GOOD == BEAUTIFUL
Not RBing this because tumblr polls aren't worth the engagement and never should have been implemented but it's nice to know that I can trust, at maximum, 18.7 percent of you people.
Evola’s “Doctrine of Awakening” is a really interesting book, because on one hand he’s very much Not A Buddhist and a lot of his stuff re: doctrine is heterodox at best, but he’s also the only Western writer on the subject who’s ever really (correctly, IMO) framed the quest for enlightenment as a warrior’s struggle towards ultimate heroic attainment rather than the almost cowardly retreat from the world that Nietzsche and Schopenhauer dismissively describe.
Say what you want about ol’ Julius, but there is a ton to chew on in basically all of his esoteric / spiritually-focused works (the political stuff one can take or leave; it’s all fundamentally metaspiritual “approach-to-life” stuff rather than political writing as we understand it anyway). The worst crime a thinker can commit is to be boring, and he’s innocent of that.
FWIW it’s actually a blessing when a piece of media or content or whatever that you used to like gets shitty, because (at least ideally) that’s one less attachment to slop in your life.
It’s also always possible that the thing was always shitty (media tends to be) and you just grew enough as a person to realize that.
Either way, enjoy the newfound freedom.
The days are getting short; treat them with care.
Social media getting shittier and more unusable SHOULD be a good thing, and in the long run I think the coming internet winter is a huge reason to be optimistic for a return to authentic human connection, but there’s a sort of Mark Fisher quality in the way people’s only reaction to $PLATFORM becoming awful is to seek out new substitute $PLATFORM rather than actually using the opportunity to ask whether 6 hours a day of hell-rectangle scrolling is a habit worth sticking to or not.
Easier to imagine the end of the internet than to imagine logging off.
Did a little bushwhacking @ Ridley Creek the other day; apparently this was known as the “yellow house” and was abandoned sometime in the 1960s.
Vibes definitely eerie but distinctly non-threatening. Kind of a *cozy* space in spite of itself.

Installing Haiku on one of the spare ThinkPads. This might be awful for my personality long-term. Updates to come.
This thing is not ready for primetime at all, no matter what multiple fat men on youtube will tell you, but it *is* a hell of a lot of fun.
Feels a bit like Mac OS 9 running on modern hardware with Bash. The overall aesthetic is really great; shades of 90s Unix DEs but way more usable. Excited to faff about with it some more, as I really like the idea of a properly user-focused OS without all the legacy *nix server/multiuser cruft under the hood. It’s fucking FAST, and that’s not nothing.
HopTea and Zastava for scale.
You think you hate redditors enough, but you don't.
