Woah he wasn’t “belittling” to Caroline during their relationship. He got upset when she did things that weren’t okay. If you remember, season 1 Caroline was a hot mess. She wasn’t the best person in the world, and she would do crazy things. But Matt loved her REGARDLESS of all her neurotic tendencies and her insecurities. He just didn’t put up with her bullshit and told her when she was acting in an inappropriate fashion.
As for Rebekah…. he’s never shown an interest in her and yet she continually pursues him, much like how Klaus staked down Caroline every chance he got and forced her to interact with him. Difference between Klaus/Caroline and Matt/Rebekah is that Caroline would reciprocate the interest at times, but Matt NEVER has.
So you’re saying Matt is a bad person because he’s just not into Rebekah and refuses to lead her on? Because he isn’t saying nice things to her after she tried to KILL him, destroyed his truck, and killed his friend?
If Matt was a woman you’d be okay with his attitude. Hell, if their genders were reversed you’d be applauding Matt for for he handled Caroline’s obsessive, jealous tendencies in season 1.
