So in one of my stories I have an Alpha who is a bodyguard for the Prince (who is an Omega). They've known each other since they had barely presented. They genuinely see each other more like brothers and they platonically comfort each other through heats and ruts (scenting each other to soothe stress and so on).
Well Alpha sleeps with a different Omega (not technically mated or bonded, but this Alpha is loyal enough to trigger a pseudo bond with this other Omega. Pseudo bonds are exactly what they sound like. Gives some of the mental and physical effects of an unreciprocated bond though no bites actually happened) and when he goes into rut for the first time, he's super jealous of His Omega (to the point of GROWLING at the Prince, something he's never done before) he's stressed out and he doesn't know what came over him (unreciprocated bonds are rare enough, usually bonds are two ways. Pseudo bonds are even rarer, and pretty much just a handful of cases). And this reflects on his rut. I don't have the hyper aggressive/horny type ruts, but due to the stress of his pseudo bond, he really struggles with doing his job, because his instincts see The Prince as a threat...
Huh, I never thought of a pseudo-bond. I like this a lot! It's interesting to see when this would happen too. Times where it's one-sided, different dynamic pairings, with multiple people, and so on and so forth.
