Hi there— thank you for taking questions! I have one about non-permanent types of marking. Since my characters are college students, they’re way too young to think about making a lifelong commitment (not that they wont get there in the future!). I’ve read about marking the inner thigh area as an alternative, and i was thinking that it could be a good for my a/o couple.

Here’s my question: when the hell can it happen? Obviously, not during penetrative sex (like a mating bite would take place). Any non-sex suggestions? Thank you!!!

They could bite it outside of an Omega's heat if it's not a permanent bond.

Non-sexual? The Alpha just asking if they can bite the Omega. Lol. You don't have to complicate the setup.

Hi!! This might sound like a dumb question but I’m currently working on an a/b/o fic where the omega partners of twin alpha mates form a bond. Trying to work out the details of the bonds. Any head canon ideas??

Huh??

So Omega A is mated to twin Alpha 1, then Omega b is mated to twin Alpha 2? Right?

Then Omega A and Omega B bond?

If that's the case, what kinda bond do they have? Like are you talking familial, romantic, pack, or something else? Cause tbh if it's romantic, you'll have to ask someone else cause I'm not sure how to answer that.

So in one of my stories I have an Alpha who is a bodyguard for the Prince (who is an Omega). They've known each other since they had barely presented. They genuinely see each other more like brothers and they platonically comfort each other through heats and ruts (scenting each other to soothe stress and so on).

Well Alpha sleeps with a different Omega (not technically mated or bonded, but this Alpha is loyal enough to trigger a pseudo bond with this other Omega. Pseudo bonds are exactly what they sound like. Gives some of the mental and physical effects of an unreciprocated bond though no bites actually happened) and when he goes into rut for the first time, he's super jealous of His Omega (to the point of GROWLING at the Prince, something he's never done before) he's stressed out and he doesn't know what came over him (unreciprocated bonds are rare enough, usually bonds are two ways. Pseudo bonds are even rarer, and pretty much just a handful of cases). And this reflects on his rut. I don't have the hyper aggressive/horny type ruts, but due to the stress of his pseudo bond, he really struggles with doing his job, because his instincts see The Prince as a threat...

Huh, I never thought of a pseudo-bond. I like this a lot! It's interesting to see when this would happen too. Times where it's one-sided, different dynamic pairings, with multiple people, and so on and so forth.

Thank you for sharing! Send over the link when you're done with your fic!

I have a few questions but i cannot seem to find anywhere to get the answers i am seeking. So here they are hopefully you can help. First does a mating mark have to be on the neck or can it be on the wrist? Second, do the mating marks have to look like a bite or can we be creative and use something significant to the Alpha and Omega? Third can a bonding happen outside of the heat cycle, like something actively chosen.

Avatar

I think a mating mark on the wrist is interesting! I don't see why you can't have it there. I can imagine that a bond bite on the wrist could be considered "possessive" or "intimate". It's something you can see straight away.

They can look like whatever you want them to look like. Lol. A bite mark is just the standard, but it's not a must.

It depends on what you are trying to do. So sure, a bond can be made outside of estrus. I also think that doing that would cause a shared heat/rut to happen.

Is the alpha the only one to mark by biting or does the omega mark them too in the same way?

Avatar

Guess what I'mma say? Depends on your AU and what you are trying to get across.

In mine, it's kind of old-fashioned and makes an Alpha look controlling for just them to mark their omega/partner. People would look at their relationship like the Alpha is not the best person. It's also thought that the Alpha doesn't have love for their partner either. Or they think that the Alpha is just trying to bond with anyone that they can while their bonded partners are left reeling.

All-in-all, in my AU, the Omega bites them in the same way. In fact, when an Alpha and Omega bite one another they have a crazy strong bond. If they are soul mates/perfect pairing, they will be able to have almost psychic abilities for one another. That's a post for another day though.

what will happen if an Alpha, Beta or Omega having multiple spouse or just plain cheating. How an Omega will deal if its Alpha is cheating or vise versa and they already have a mark. what will they do if things like this happen.

Death to the cheater. Jk, if only.

Multiple spouses? I think that it would be fine if it's all consensual.

Plain cheating? That's a different beast in and of itself. Not bonded, there wouldn't be too much drama. Of course, the regular amount would be a given.

I think that if they are bonded, eventually, they will feel that it's not right. Maybe it's weak or tight, I dunno. You can play with this idea in many ways. Like you'll have the expected drama of them finding it, but then you can mix in the aspect of their bond.

Okay, I've a question and I'm in dire need of answers since I'm planning to write about this.

So, after knotting and bonding, generally the Omega is supposed to face some kind of side effects if they tried to have sex with another person( at least that's what I've learnt ) . Although, those cases are rare but what if their ‘freshly bonded’ alpha dies,

Is the Omega allowed to have another partner?

Would it harm the body if the Omega wanted to bond again?

What if they are near an alpha with similar hormones? would that make things okay?

— paradis.

Uuuuhhhhh, it depends dawg.

I always headcanon that it takes about three days to an entire month for a new bond to settle in. This time period would be considered to be 'freshly bonded', at least for me.

So with that in mind:

The death of a new mate could result in dire results. I would think the Omega's death, coma, and/or severe illness would happen. If they could survive that, there would be a period of time where their body purges the previous bond. So yes, they could have another partner.

No, it wouldn't. At least, if the original bond is cleared away. If it isn't, I have read in some stories, a bond over a bond results in a person getting overloaded. This leads to them going catatonic, the bond not taking, and illness.

That depends on you and how you view hormones and what you are trying to do with your story.

Hi, I’m recently addicted to A/B/O that I went on a binge. Now I’m confused about bonding and mating since the writers were pretty loose on the terminologies that I wasn’t able to get a clear picture of these practices. Are they different? Which one is permanent?

So the way it works in my verse is that:

Bonding - This is when mates during heat or rut (the time when a dynamic is ovulating or just super-duper horny essentially) take the time to bite one another to create a bond. Now this bond is either just a mark, telepathic, empathic, or mirror-touch synesthesia.

Mating - Is just another word for sex. It could be sex that’s specifically happening during a rut or heat.

Would would happen if an omega rejected a bond? How would the alpha react? How would it affect them especially if they were prefect mates? Say if the omega wanted to get their bonded mark removed?

Honestly, it just depends on how you think the Alpha and Omega would react. Especially in your own AU.

Perfect mates? Maybe death is my best bet, if they are entirely dependent on one another.

I came up with a process called Bond Scrubbing a few years ago. You can find it here

I've made a headcannon (feel free to bash it because it's a little outside of what's normally outside of the box) that when someone is abused or abandoned or in a horrible situation after 6 months of it being the same horrible treatment, the bond starts to dissolve and after 3 months of it dissolving its completely gone along with the bonding mark. It goes in a way that the other wont notice, as it's a natural protection thing for all secondary genders.

WHAT THIS IS NOT OUT OF THE BOXXXX?!!!?!?! I would never bash ideas dude. The heck. I seriously hope that people aren’t thinking I’m mean man. Lol.

I fucking love this idea. Yes, I love it. 10/10.

This makes it easier for the partner to slip away when they finally get the chance to run away. The abused person could never be affected by the absences of their ex and whatever scents the abused has can’t be trackeddd.

If a mate dies, could the widow have another chance of love or will stay alone until death?

Depends on your AU.

There are different ways people use and describe bonds:

  • Bonds are simply like a ring or tattoo that says you two are a couple.
  • Bonds are a spiritual bond, meaning mind, body, and soul are interlinked.
  • Bonds are a physical bond and emotions are separate.
  • Bonds are an emotional bond and physical are separate.
  • Bonds are marks that tell others that you are claimed.

Here are some different scenarios I’ve personally seen with a mate dying:

  • Mate dies and living mate is sick for a period of time, taking time to heal.
  • Mate dies and living mate still has a lingering bond that stays until they are mated again.
  • Mate dies and living mate also dies.
  • Mate dies and living mate grieves as anyone else would.
  • Mate dies and living mate will always have that bond and can never bond with someone else.
  • Mate dies and living mate’s bond slowly heals and all trace of the first mate is gone.

Really this is something that is pretty touch and go in peoples’ omegaverse. It depends on your worldbuilding, level of angst, and what your overall plot is. I personally use a lot of different scenarios for the sake of angst because I am a demon who hates herself.

What happens if a omega!female has already been bonded to another alpha!male but falls for another alpha!male in a course where she and the original alpha are apart. In my story the omega and the 1st alpha male are immortal (kinda.) And the second is mortal. Is the consequences to this? Can bonds dwindle over time? What happens usually when another alpha finds out their omega has been claimed by another alpha?

In my AU bonds do not dwindle over time, but sometime I headcanon that bonds can get stronger or weaker due to how the couple’s relationship is. So if they fall out of love or start hating each other, the bond will get weaker and could easily break off.

In any case I would think that the Alpha would be pissed that they are cheating, especially if the Omega isn’t saying anything.

So, in your case I would assume that if the Omega is no longer in love or care for her original Alpha, then the bond will probably go away or break more easily. Maybe when the 2nd Alpha bonds to them the original bond is broken completely and easily.

Perhaps the Omega is Poly, but they should talk to their mate about this so she can take another mate.

I also headcanon that if the Omega bonds with someone else, that they will feel the pain and get the full force of a bond break.

Really it’s up to you.

Don’t be cheating people. It’s gross.

Avatar
Anonymous asked:

Is cheating less common in omegaverse? What would happen if one of them did cheat?

FIRST OFF FUCK CHEATERS. ROT YOU ASSHOLES.

Though, I genuinely believe that it is extremELY RARE when a couple is bonded. Like almost no one cheats and if they do I feel like there would be some light or heavy consequences.

  • - Light consequence: just like what you would expect from a break up due to cheating, they would probably have a bond scrubbing later down the line
  • - Heavy consequence: the bond between the bonded pair starts to dissolve and the non cheating mate starts to get sick. they might possibly die because a bond is sacred, and mates could only mate with one another and that’s it

Not bonded, they would break up like normal people and that’s it.

What does it feel like to be bonded to another person? What are the effects of the bond?

I imagine it being a comfortable weight on top of your heart. You know those sensory blankets that you can get that are weighted? I imagine that being on one’s heart. That weight that a person feels on/in their heart is the attachment/bond that they have with their mate.

The effects vary from au to au. Personally I think the effects are almost on a psychic level, like telepathy. Mates are able to feel the others emotions almost always. The mates are able to send and share emotions with one another too whenever they want too.

I feel like this stems off the whole werewolf thing. Since it’s supernatural. At times of distress or danger a mate can warn their mate of the danger and call for help or help them keep calm with influencing good emotion. And things of the like.

I hope that this explanation is good!
