I find it interesting that the only place the US hasn’t won gold yet is on our best event, Vault.
Happy Birthday Shannon Miller.
Happy Birthday to my scrunchie wearing, violin solo loving, broken wrist-ed, one true love that I once made awkward eye contact with in a Trader Joe’s in Jacksonville Beach because I couldn’t believe it was her, Shannon Miller!
A few facts about Shannon: she was the first American woman to ever compete the full-in dismount off the beam, she was the most decorated American athlete across all sports at the 1992 Olympic Games, she was only the fourth woman ever to be World All Around champion back-to-back (’93 & ‘94), she was the first American woman to become the Olympic Balance Beam Champion and only the second American woman to win an Olympic individual event title, and she is currently the most decorated American gymnast (male or female) with 16 major international medals (nine World, seven Olympic) and the most decorated American gymnast of all time in terms of Olympic medals.
