FINALLY a good quality video of Aiko Sugihara’s floor routine from 2017 Worlds AA. She scored a 13.833, the second highest floor score of the all-around competition behind her teammate Mai Murakami.
Aiko Sugihara successfully completing the double Y-turn on beam in the all-around final, leading to the creation of her first eponymous skill (x)
Just a reminder that Aiko Sugihara did an entire floor routine with a tissue stuffed in her nose to stop a nose bleed and did well enough in it to be the first alternate to floor finals.
Aiko spreading the love 🤗🤗
Mai kept stopping her interviews to wipe away tears. She was crying so much. I felt so bad for her. She’s so mad at herself for falling. :(
Aiko is super happy though and gave me a thumbs up. She had a GREAT day considering how she was struggling leading up to this meet! AND THE SUGIHARA IS A THING NOW!
Too Cute - Aiko Sugihara
A reminder about the good things at Worlds: Team Japan, Chuso and Team South Korea all in one pic and happy together!

Aiko Sugihara is planning on competing a 6.3 balance beam routine at Worlds. This would put her with the fourth most difficult beam routine in the World, behind Liu Tingting, Larisa Iordache, and Luo Huan. This means her routine would be more difficult than Ragan Smith and Catalina Ponor.
Sugihara’s new beam mount
Something tells me that the translation isn’t exactly right lmao but congrats to Mai and Aiko for making Japan Worlds team!
Cute international friendship♡

Aiko Sugihara’s Memmel on Beam at the Toyota Cup not perfect but at least she went for it and made it!
