Working on a thing
Athena is associated with weaving and craft, so I'd like to imagine her watching penelope work in her owl form
Obsessed with Robert Fitzgerald's translation of this moment
When Penelope's crying from the "beggar's" story about Odysseus.
[...] so her white cheeks were wetted by these tears shed for her lord--and he close by her side. Imagine how his heart ached for his lady, his wife in tears; and yet he never blinked; his eyes might have been made of horn or iron for all that she could see. He had this trick-- wept, if he willed to, inwardly.
(Book 19, Fitzgerald)
Like I already love this bit in every translation as fucking ouch sdfakljf but with how it's worded in how "he's right next to her." How he's "weeping inwardly." Crying, shaking, throwing up.
WINGMAN ATHENA HAS BEEN AND ALWAYS WILL BE REAL
been thinking about that horrible man and his devious wife (affectionate)
For anyone who may have not known, there is a text by ovid called the heroides in which has a letter to Odysseus (or Ulysses cuz ovid was roman) by Penelope at the start. It's pretty interesting, But I want to call out this one line
SAME PENELOPE
Hi!! love your artstyle and your headcannons and wanted to share one I thought you might like and it's that I think during the earlier years of odysseus absence (like when Telemachus was a toddler/young child) Penelope would take him up to her room and sit in the olive tree bed and tell him stories both of his cunning and gentler moments. His favorites were the one's where he's a cunning little shit. Which may be why he was a worrisome child like you said you think he is
Hii, thank you so much!!! And yeahh that's such a good heacanon! Maybe as he got older he wanted to hear more "gritty" stories of his father. Penelope was maybe reluctant at first, he's a child after all - but you can only keep saying "Some other time" for so long.
Yeah, that does make a lot of sense for Penelope's character, especially considering how scared she was when he went off to Sparta. Maybe she started off with more light things like "one time your father Fought a boar And then proceeded to brag About the massive scar he got i n c e s s a n t l y"
