In the replies, he conceded the Circassian Genocide, but tried to insist the deportations of the Crimean Tatars, Chechens, Koreans, etc. don't count because Russians didn't directly kill them.

Oh, OK.... Then I suppose there was also nothing wrong with the Trail of Tears or the Long Walk of the Navajo? Sure, thousands died, but since the American army didn't directly kill them, it was fine. /s

I am going to start begging people to stop acting like USA is somehow the worst in every single circumstance.

Is not that there isn't things to criticize about USA, there is! A lot!

But it is getting to the point that I had seen people defend horrendous governments, because they have no idea what they are talking about and their only frame of reference is USA and whatever the fuck it did to a foreign country.

Hey Jumblr,

Reblog this and tell me one thing you'd like for non-Jews to know about Jews and Judaism.

There are only 15.8 million of us in the entire world. We are in no way a “major world religion,” and the idea that we are is a misconception that stems from the fact that the two largest and most historically and geopolitically powerful religions in the world, Christianity and Islam, were founded on the appropriation of our sacred texts which were never intended to be used by anyone other than the Jewish people. If you think you know anything about Judaism because you’ve learned about “Abrahamic faiths,” you probably don’t know anywhere near as much about Judaism as you think you do.

it's amazing how ordinary objects can become so significant to only the owner

when my aunt's best friend passed away, my younger brother was four years old. at his funeral, my brother went up to her and gave her a nickel. he told her very solemnly that it would make her feel better. she smiled for the first time in days, and tucked it in her wallet.

when my brother was 22, his best friend passed away unexpectedly. my aunt drove three hours to be there for him at the funeral. she went up to my brother, gave him a big hug, and then gave him a nickel. it was the same nickel; she had kept it in her wallet for 18 years, and now it's on a necklace that he never takes off.

what i'm trying to say is that the love you put into the world will always find its way back to you.

"Like a bunch of other queer Jews I learnt about the importance of community and chosen family from growing up Jewish, years before I encountered these ideas in a queer context. I’m an only child and my parents moved us to England from the US when I was eight, leaving my extended family on the other side of an ocean. The friends my parents made in the Jewish community became family to me. In the queer community we often talk about the importance of standing together, and looking out for people who are marginalised within our community. That attitude is something that I see practised by my Jewish friends and family and is something that makes being Jewish so, so important to me. When people are dismissive of “organised religion” or claim that as a society we’d be better off without delineating ourselves into religious groups I can’t help but think about how being Jewish has made me a more empathetic and caring person than I might have otherwise been."

Questions I think to myself a lot when confronted with certain kinds of Online Posting:

  • Do you want a better world, or do you want revenge on those you think aren’t doing enough to improve it?
  • Do you want a more just world, or do you want to see bad people suffer merciless punishment?
  • Do you want a less oppressive world, or do you want the reins of power for yourself?
  • Do you want to do the right thing, or do you want to feel righteous?

Hana-Rawhiti Kareariki Maipi-Clarke, the youngest MP in Aotearoa, starts a haka to protest the first vote on a bill reinterpreting the 1840 Treaty of Waitangi

Goes insanely hard

To provide further context from what I understand the bill wanted to take the rights guaranteed to the Maori in said treaty and expand them to all New Zealand citizens. The issue with that is that it sort of defeats the point of the protections of the treaty.

While the Onion buying InfoWars is indeed extremely funny, very few of the posts I've seen commenting on the sale have mentioned that the families of the Sandy Hook victims apparently agreed to voluntarily reduce their lawsuit payout as part of a deal to ensure that the Onion would acquire InfoWars wholesale, rather than having the company broken up and auctioned off piecemeal, as the latter course could potentially have allowed some of those pieces to end up back in the hands of Alex Jones' cronies.

Like, yes, it is in fact very funny that InfoWars is now a wholly owned subsidiary of Clickhole, but the real props go out to the Sandy Hook families who saw the opportunity and willingly gave up the additional millions of dollars that could have been realised by stripping InfoWars for parts in order to make that happen.

"i need to clean my room / do the dishes / do the laundry" = boring, horrific, makes it seem like a burden.

"i'm tending to my realm / the magic tower needs maintenance / i'm restoring the kingdom to what it was" = beautiful, amazing, spetacular, joyful, full of childlike wonder, actually describes what the task feels like as opposed to what it is

In "Hallelujah" Leonard Cohen states "You say I took the name in vain/ I don't even know the name / But if I did, well, really, what's it to ya?" implying that there is doubt to be casted on the fact that he doesn't know the name. At the same time, Leonard Cohen is, as his name suggests, a Kohen, and he has even given the priestly blessing before. In ancient times, the Kohen Gadol (High Priest) was the only person who pronounced/knew how the pronounce the divine name. Does this line from Hallelujah imply that Leonard Cohen is from the line of the last Kohen Gadol and his line is in fact the only one that still knows how to say the name? In this essay I will...

Percy listens to those whale noises that people use to sleep and he just listens to them like a podcast.

And any time he hears someone like Annabeth listening to them he's like "Wow Daphne is really something else. Honestly I can't believe she would do that"

And Annabeths's like "what?"

And Percy just translates the entire thing to her and instead of calming sounds to help her concentrate she now has Percy tell her all the whale drama which she is oddly immersed with.

I don't wanna see another story abt a teenage boy coming out to his parents and closed mouth kissing his boyfriend at prom where's my spy thriller action heist movie w a cast made entirely of dykes and femme gay men you know what I'm fucking talkinf about. I'm tired of The Queer Struggle I struggle every stupid day I know what that's all about and honestly none of the coming out stories are cathartic or whatever to me. I don't care. I wanna see a nonbinary person fight a dragon
