My school is putting on another play!! We’re doing The Play That Goes Wrong. It’s gonna be my first time acting in a non-musical. I’m auditioning for Max rn :]
Idk who’s been paying attention to the posts about my school’s production of Little Shop of Horrors. But there has been a development. Our Seymour just dropped out. Which is insane on its own. But our director also said that, at the moment, the only person who she thinks can pick up the role is me. So hopefully we find another way, but maybe, I’m… not,, your dentist??
I actually really love Seymour! Both versions. But Orin has always been my favorite character by far and I’ve become super emotionally attached and invested in him. I know it sounds weird cause he’s like, the worst guy, but he really means a lot to me and I see him very much as MY character, especially this far into rehearsals (the play is exactly one month from today). Like imagine getting the chance to play your #1 blorbo, with all your favorite songs, practicing for three months, and then finding out you might have to sit on stage and watch someone else do it instead. Fucking bummer
No I get why this sucks outside of my personal and not widely held opinions on the Little Shop play, I was just making a joke. I don't think it's weird to love Orin either, he's my third favorite character of all time currently. Why couldn't they have the guy who would replace you as Orin be Seymour? If that wouldn't be their first plan he probably doesn't have an ideal personality for the role, but that would probably work out more smoothly for everyone than forcing you to replace all your knowledge of your performance for Orin with stuff for Seymour. If someone has to learn the role of the main character nearly from scratch one month before the play it might as well be someone who doesn't already have a ton of work under their belt that could interfere with the process and would be wasted. Plus Seymour and Orin are already foils, so if they're willing to have him play Orin he could probably do a good job with Seymour as well. Also I should probably be using the comments for this at this point but eh.
Yeah, we actually don’t even have an understudy for Orin yet, but Orin is an easier role to replace than Seymour and im the only option right now because I am a HUGE lsoh nerd and already learned half of Seymour’s lines for fun/by accident. Plus I actually have a kind of a knack for memorizing text (especially when im absolutely insane about a text like I am w/lsoh), I was off book for Orin by the end of the third week, so I’m likely the only one who wont have trouble memorizing all this dialogue. Anyway yeah we should prolly be using the comments :p
