THEY’RE BROTHERS (DON’T LOOK AT ME)
Teen Wolf 3x07
You can probably guess how I felt about this.
It started off okay despite it being slightly confusing with a ton of people swarming the hospital with injuries but hey, it was a less conventional opening to the show. I won't lie, I was anticipating the big reveal to Stiles's dad and I really want to see this happen soon.
I don't understand how the light/buzzer/alarm thing at Derek's place works. Like, what sets it off? That makes no sense to me and it feels really Power Rangers-esque to me.
The part with Allison and Scott hiding in the closet and Scott getting a boner was... pointless. Allison sounded like a bit of an idiot for asking about it. I get that it was probably there for some humour but we have Stiles for that, as shown by his funny scene with a half-asleep Danny.
I loved the scene where Ms. McCall wakes up and sees Isaac and Scott asleep in her room. It was really cute, especially because Isaac was there. He's probably never experience a real sense of family before becoming a werewolf and even then, he didn't really get that until he befriended Scott. Now he's living with Scott and it's like he's one of the family, which was cute and nice.
As predicted, Boyd was killed. He was just making a few appearances here and there with no real directions nor any strong ties to the primary characters. That aside, it was pretty sad, especially seeing how Derek was essentially forced to kill him and he was so broken up about it, it was like he lost his child. :( A* for you, Tyler Hoechlin. Oh and to make everything x8954786987 more sad, we saw Erica die too. :( I couldn't really hear what Boyd said while he was dying though. I heard something about "feeling like one of the others" and that was it. If anyone would care to clear that up for me, that would be wonderful, thank you.
I'm not entirely sure what turning the power back on managed to accomplish though. As far as I can see, one of them still died and Ethan, Aiden and Kali all got away, perfectly fine. Oh but wait, it probably doesn't matter much since Boyd died instead of Derek, right? Give me a break...
That teacher got involved again in yet another gag inducing scene. I looked up her name this time. She's called Jennifer Blake. So we got that really crappy, really lame "good werewolf's love interest is taken and held hostage by evil, villainous werewolves to make good werewolf more vulnerable". Can we not. I don't know how the Alpha Pack caught wind of Derek and Jennifer's, uh, sexual encounters and I wasn't aware that they're an actual thing that the Alpha Pack would perceive as important to their cause, if you follow me. But apparently they are.
Derek, who basically kicked Isaac out - Isaac, who had no one else to go to - to keep him safe from himself yet he's, apparently, openly getting involved with a mere human woman.
There's Teen Wolf's logic for you!
If this isn't what would be called butchering Derek's character, I don't know what would be.
When Scott went to rescue his boss and tried breaking through the barrier keeping him from rescuing him... I was relieved he didn't manage to break it! Scott being this "super Alpha" is enough, thank you. We don't need him breaking all the rules so yay.
All in all, I have mixed feelings about this episode. It started off decently enough. I just really can't stand Jennifer's character. There's so much wrong with her involvement, it really throws off a lot of things, especially when it comes to consistencies with Derek's character. I'd rather she just vanished from the show asap.
Oh and one last thing. I don't know how American schools work but why is it that completely random people can just waltz into the school and wander around as they please? I don't get this. Is this a real thing? And is Cora a student (I have no idea how old she is)? Because her sudden reappearance might be a little difficult to explain.
Teen Wolf 3x06
What an awful episode.
It felt like more filler despite the very minor progressions in the plot, like the previous episode.
I probably wouldn't have hated this episode so much if it wasn't for the terrible scenes between Derek and the teacher, whose name I can't remember yet again. Yes, there's Derek, his stomach ripped open and blood oozing out. He can barely stand, let along walk and yet he's going to have sex. How about no.
There's Derek with all his trust issues and yet he seems way too accepting of this woman, who is a virtual stranger. And his wounds, somehow, magically heal. Can we not. This is something I'd expect out of a fanfiction, written by a fangirl, who fantasises about Derek and awkwardly masturbates over said fantasies.
I'm not even joking when I say I was so close to throwing up during their scenes. Everything felt so, so forced. I'm not a Sterek shipper. I don't ship Derek with anyone because let's face it, he's not ready for a relationship. But God, Sterek makes x9653456898 more sense than whatever this is!
It's awful. It needs to stop,
We got the odd glimpse of Isaac here and there but nowhere near enough for me to overlook the previously mentioned episode-ruining scenes. Boyd's appearances here and there felt kinda random. I'm also not entirely sure about the relevance of Scott walking in on Allison showering... His hallucination about his mom and Deucalion made sense but I don't get the shower scene other than showing him acting "weirdly".
There was something kinda cute about the scene between Ethan and Danny where they talk about his scars. When asked if he could get rid of them, Danny says he wouldn't because they make him feel like a survivor and Ethan responds with "I really hope you are". I'm feeling a little bit of foreshadowing there but that aside... I felt like it said a lot about Danny's character and I also felt it was an interesting contrast to Jackson's character.
Finally, the scene with suicidal Scott was pretty decent. There's something about him and Stiles having a moment and Stiles ultimately being the one to bring Scott to his senses rather than us having to endure a super cliche Scott/Allison scene.
Yeah, this episode sucked. As bad as episode 1 though? I'm not sure.
