Teen Wolf 3x06

What an awful episode.

It felt like more filler despite the very minor progressions in the plot, like the previous episode.

I probably wouldn't have hated this episode so much if it wasn't for the terrible scenes between Derek and the teacher, whose name I can't remember yet again. Yes, there's Derek, his stomach ripped open and blood oozing out. He can barely stand, let along walk and yet he's going to have sex. How about no.

There's Derek with all his trust issues and yet he seems way too accepting of this woman, who is a virtual stranger. And his wounds, somehow, magically heal. Can we not. This is something I'd expect out of a fanfiction, written by a fangirl, who fantasises about Derek and awkwardly masturbates over said fantasies.

I'm not even joking when I say I was so close to throwing up during their scenes. Everything felt so, so forced. I'm not a Sterek shipper. I don't ship Derek with anyone because let's face it, he's not ready for a relationship. But God, Sterek makes x9653456898 more sense than whatever this is!

It's awful. It needs to stop,

We got the odd glimpse of Isaac here and there but nowhere near enough for me to overlook the previously mentioned episode-ruining scenes. Boyd's appearances here and there felt kinda random. I'm also not entirely sure about the relevance of Scott walking in on Allison showering... His hallucination about his mom and Deucalion made sense but I don't get the shower scene other than showing him acting "weirdly".

There was something kinda cute about the scene between Ethan and Danny where they talk about his scars. When asked if he could get rid of them, Danny says he wouldn't because they make him feel like a survivor and Ethan responds with "I really hope you are". I'm feeling a little bit of foreshadowing there but that aside... I felt like it said a lot about Danny's character and I also felt it was an interesting contrast to Jackson's character.

Finally, the scene with suicidal Scott was pretty decent. There's something about him and Stiles having a moment and Stiles ultimately being the one to bring Scott to his senses rather than us having to endure a super cliche Scott/Allison scene.

Yeah, this episode sucked. As bad as episode 1 though? I'm not sure.

Teen Wolf 3x05

A pretty mediocre episode, in my opinion. The season premiere was still miles worse (I don't think anything could be worse than that).

Am I the only one who thinks that the writing for this show is, on a whole, pretty weak? Like, there's some good humour every now and then but some of the lines are so cliche and corny or sound forced (not in terms of the actor's delivery but more the way it's phrased). Like, the amount of emphasis placed on Derek being "dead". It was so forced and in your face - no one was going to believe he'd have an off-screen death in the middle of the season to begin with. There's no need to constantly be like "omg derek might be dead pls no" and then have that "surprising" ending where he is clinging on to life and happens to reach that same teacher (because that's not weird and random and creepy at all) because it's crap and cheesy and lame.

EDIT: While we're talking about things being forced and Derek... This whole thing with the teacher? She'll probably die by the end of the season but ugh, can we stop with the cliches.

Also, I don't get why Ethan told Danny the reason behind him constantly checking his phone when he was so blatantly aware that it was Stiles pestering Danny to find out. Unless he didn't mind them knowing but if I were in his position, I'd much rather keep them wondering...

I will say though, having the flashbacks was a good idea to condense everything into a single episode and get things moving a little quicker. That being said, I still don't think things have progressed enough? There was a bit too much of the whole "thinking back and reflecting" going on.

This basically felt like filler for the most part but eh, it could have been worse. More Isaac obviously earns you brownie points from me...

Teen Wolf 3x04

A bit of a slow episode this week, in my opinion. Still pretty good. So much Isaac though, I can't really complain.

Derek throwing that glass at him just made me think of when his dad did the same thing. :(

Danny telling Stiles he can have sex with him and cuddle is the greatest thing I've seen on this show in ages. luv u danny pls never change

What's happening with Boyd? Is he like an omega or something?

All in all, this season's shaping up to be better than I expected. :D

Episode 1 was so shit, I'm actually really surprised at how much better Teen Wolf is getting this season! Episode 3 was great.

THE ISAAC/ALLISON EYE SEX IS TOO MUCH AND I DONT EVEN REALLY SHIP IT BUT I MIGHT??

and then there's scott and isaac too

basically everyone wants to bone isaac

cant blame them tbh.

also derek with erica's body. hold me pls

and then boyd and cora

and heather and stiles

this is all too much

BASICALLY. This season is actually going pretty good. Though the whole sacrificing virgins thing sounds kinda cliche... But eh, I can deal with it. :P

next episode pls

Teen Wolf was much better this week.

That being said, Stiles nearly getting laid and Isaac's general existence were probably the highlights...

welp

Still, looking forward to the next episode more than I was last week.

Avatar

Also, Teen Wolf...

I am highly appreciative of Daniel Sharman's face and general existence.

So that definitely helped score points with me in the season premiere.

However, the episode itself was a bit shit.

They do green screen work and cgi so badly on this show and what the fuck was that shattering glass?

I don't know. It just didn't really do it for me. I'll keep watching though, I guess.

Finished 'Code Geass' last night!

I'd never cried so much at any show as I did during those last 5-10 minutes of the final episode.

The ending was "satisfying". Good call, whoever assured me of that (sorry, I don't remember who it was!). But so was Anon who said everything ends in "blood and tears".

---THERE ARE SPOILERS AHEAD---

Avatar

Well. I've finished the first season of Code Geass.

About to start season 2 now.

I don't know how I'm going to get through this. Season 1 has already managed to tear my soul, throw it in a blender and burn it.

I just want Suzaku to be okay, okay? And Lelouch. And Nunnally. And everyone.

IS A HAPPY ENDING FOR EVERYONE REALLY SO MUCH TO ASK FOR.

I started Code Geass today!

Despite still being behind on One Piece and Fairy Tail… I regret nothing. I watched a little over half of the first season today and I can’t get over how amazing this anime is. I can definitely understand all of the Death Note comparisons but I feel like the Geass itself aside, it feels a lot more real than Death Note with the whole issue of racial discrimination, human rights, equality between upper and lower classes etc. I’ve yet to figure out Lelouch properly but Light came across as far more radical in his approach to ascend to the status of God. But there are, of course, numerous similarities. But I think I kinda prefer Code Geass so far. It helps that it has a LOT more action! I adore Suzaku though. He’s so adorable, awh. Funnily enough he seems like such a pacifist, I wonder a little how exactly he thinks he can change Britannia as a soldier. I ship him with Euphie so hard right now though. :3 Speaking of shipping… Shirley and Lelouch… WHAT DO I DO NOW. Though I ship him with Kallen a little too but after ~that episode~ more with Shirley so… Anyway! Lloyd also seems pretty interesting… Idk why I’m so keen on the “mad scientist” types, haha. Oh and I can't wait to see what happens with that Britannian military (or whatever) woman Ougi found! Um yeah, I love it so far! Genuinely have no idea what’s going to happen next because there are so many sides involved in this fight, ahhhhh. I really hope Mae shows up again though. A mere 2 episodes just feels like a waste…

"he is a hero trapped in a villain's body or a villain trapped in a hero's body"

Sounds accurate enough.

but can i just say,

labels are irrelevant.

Who actually cares if he's labelled a "hero" or a "villain"?

Should that really influence someone's opinion on a fictional character? It really doesn't matter.

Just stop arguing and let people like who they like, ship whoever they want and have whatever opinion they want. The last thing I want to see in the "captain hook" tag is people arguing! You can make these same arguments for all the so-called "villains" (Hi Rumple, Regina...), except maybe Cora but again, it's a matter of opinion.

So I don't get why people are SO much more assertive with the whole "Hook is evil" thing. Seriously, do you even watch this show? Did you watch season 1?

moar gifsets pls *_____*

I just watched this week's episode of Merlin. I don't even have words for what it's put me through. What really bugged me was Arthur at the end though. He's all confused and shit and it's like, uhh, he's closer to Kara than he is to you. You mean fuck all comparatively. You killed his girlfriend. Do you expect him to be okay with that? If it was Gwen in that situation, he'd do the same thing. And that brings us to Merlin. He's changed, man. I'm not sure I like who he's become. Nice one for driving Mordred away. Though that can be attributed considerably to Arthur too. THE LOOK IN THE CELL BETWEEN LEON AND MORDRED THOUGH ;____; Then there's Kara. She was silly for attacking Arthur. That was unnecessary. However, I get why she wouldn't 'repent' and I respect her honesty even if her anger was slightly misplaced. I kinda wish for Mordred's sake she had just given in. And I wish we could have seen more of her. Just. Ugh. This episode was horrible. Fuck's sake, Arthur. You're the King. Your word is law. WAKE UP.

Oh. I saw Breaking Dawn Part 2 the other day. I haven't even seen Part 1 and Eclipse, ahaa.

peer pressure is a powerful thing

It was better than the book.

Not as bad as I expected.

Still dumb and some major plotholes and "how are you so dumb" moments.

Like.

WHY GET A NEW FREAKING HOUSE

IF YOU'RE PLANNING ON MOVING AWAY

anyway, Demitri (I think?) and Garrett were hot. Jasper is cute. They helped me get through it.

The plot twist was a big improvement but at the same time, the ending consequently felt anti-climatic? It was like, they had that all go down to give that big fighting scene but the writers were too scared for the repercussions of that fight to actually come to...exist.

yea

there was a grand total of 6 people in the cinema

which meant we ended up making many snarky comments throughout the movie hahahahahaha

We got a filler episode this week. Here's what I thought:

  • I can't completely understand the logic behind the woman giving Arthur the horn. Maybe she wanted him to have the chance to see his father but even then, it doesn't make complete sense. When she gave it to him, I thought, "aww, that's nice" but then she explained what it does and I thought, "way to ruin the moment, lady".
  • Hypocritical kings. Yay. I get why he did it but, uh, isn't the punishment for possessing magical objects death? I am just saying.
  • UTHER. I'm questioning whether that was really Uther because for a dead father speaking to his son, that seemed really cruel, even for Uther Pendragon. But then I can't understand why he would act like that unless it was actually how he felt... Wow, what a douche.
  • More knight banter please.
  • Lack of continuity from the previous episode was disappointing. We saw Mordred for mere seconds. I expected more.
  • Uther found out about Merlin's magic and oh my gOD. Ngl, I was surprised he even remembered Merlin's name, haha. But I have waited for that scene for so long! And when Uther was about to tell Arthur but he couldn't. Holy fuck. That being said, the length of the scene between Merlin and Uther made it slightly underwhelming. It was so short and then it was just them... Fighting.

Overall, for a filler episode, it was alright and it gave Arthur some maturity as a King etc. and the chance to come to terms with what his father was like, which should hopefully help him with the whole "magic" thing in the future.

Where do I even start with this episode?!

  • I still feel awful for Sefa, losing her dad and all. It's not like she even knew about Gwen's Masterplan either so she must have some conflicting loyalties here and overload of emotions. I hope we see her again.
  • The Mordred/Morgana reunion had me getting all emotional. </3 Man, that really hit me hard from the moment she saw him from her window to her yelling at him over dinner. Fuck. Again though, this shows exactly why I hate time skips. Morgana's character has done a complete 180. This is the third season and I still can't fully understand or believe how or why she's changed so drastically. I blame Morgause honestly.
  • I feel awful for Morgana though. She's so misguided and has lost her way completely. She lost her family and now Mordred. The expression on her face when he stabbed her said enough. Regardless of who "wins" at the end of this, if anyone, it's going to suck.
  • I think Merlin grounded Aithusa. Poor baby.
  • Mordred is so fucking adorable. You can't call him evil. Just look at him! His death seems inevitable though and that will hurt. Can't we all just live happily ever after? :(
  • Merlin was so mean! I know he's trying to prevent Arthur's downfall here but hasn't he noticed that whenever he tries really hard to stop something from happening, that tends to speed up the process of that thing actually happening?
  • Also, the bit about Arthur being his own bane... That could be interpreted in a lot of ways, I guess, especially when you consider Mordred's association with that role and the fact that his knighting ceremony directly followed that scene... I just like to think of it as Arthur having not legalised magic yet not helping him. ;)
  • Um, yeah, I'm Team Mordred at the moment just because I think he appears to be a neutral party, neither Team Arthur nor Team Morgana. More like, Team Equivalent Exchange. ;) Bonus points if you know what that's a reference to. >:D

As you know, I started a new school this academic year. It doesn't have a particularly good reputation, which can be attributed to the local area, which has a high crime rate. I used to go to a selective, girl's grammar school. This is a mixed, comprehensive school so it's very different.

There was a school inspection a few weeks ago. The report was entirely really positive about everything. Now the local area is primarily Asian and black. 90% of students' first language is not English yet they're doing well enough on a whole.

So this comment about multiculturalism is really annoying. The only problem I can see is people like this guy trying to make it sound as though there's a problem here. Believe it or not, English doesn't have to be your first language for you to speak well. I was fluent in my mother tongue at a really young age, like, three or four years old but there was no problem with my English either. I was more competent than most kids my age.

There are no problems with integration or anything there either. :| It's not like the two white kids in my year group are social outcasts...

So just sssshhhh...

Soooo, I have my laptop back so here's a quick review of Merlin 5x01.

  • Time skips suck. I understand why they do it but it really limits the viewer's understanding of the characters because so much of the development of their personality is omitted. It makes it harder to understand and relate to them (see Queen Gwen and Season 3 Morgana). They grow over that time skipped past and change but because we can't see it, we respond to them differently than we would have otherwise.
  • I liked the light humour between Arthur and Merlin in the opening. It maintains the atmosphere that we love in this show and it's like a constant through the entire series. The transition to Gwaine & co's disappearance was nicely done. I am a fan of Morgana imprisoning them to work... shirtless.
  • It felt like a slightly formulaic two-parter though. Wasn't it the episode where they rescue Elyan where they're travelling, take an alternate route to catch the enemies by surprise, a traitor discloses the plan, they are imprisoned etc.
  • It was obvious from the beginning that Sefa would fuck things up and end up helping Morgana. I felt really bad for her (CAUSE I SHIP HER WITH MERLIN) -and her dad tbh, because she doesn't seem to have a firm alignment alongside or against the crown. For that reason, I resent Gwen's decision. It seemed very dramatic and extensive for a character like her but that would, again, be accounted to the timeskip, preventing us from seeing how she has come into her role as Queen. I still don't like her.
  • The fuck was that alien thing?
  • Mordred's back! This feels long overdue! I think we need a backstory at some point, where he went, how he and Morgana found each other, etc. I miss Asa Butterfield but Alexander Vlahos appears to fit the role well. He has a good look for the part too so I'm looking forward to seeing more from him. I can't wait to see how his relationship with Merlin develops from now and the dynamics of his relationship with Morgana. It was obvious he would be aligned with her with the kind of bond they had formed earlier on but I'm assuming at some point there may be some indication he has (temporarily) switched sides. Mordred is the one who is "Arthur's Bane", I guess so... MOAR PLS.
  • The tone became a lot more serious this episode following Merlin's encounter with this alleged Druid seer. I think they needed that if this is going to be the final season so that worked for me, especially since Merlin tried to warn Arthur by explaining who the man was and what he said to him. His predictable dismissal pushes his fate further towards what Merlin saw and that made everything more intense.
  • Speaking of the final season, I'm intrigued to see how they're going to round the whole story up. Do we get a "happy" ending or the downfall of Camelot? A death and Camelot's fate left ambiguous? Or perhaps everything being left in turmoil before being restored in a historical timeline? I'm looking foward to it either way!
  • All in all, a decent first episode. The only problem I have is that it just felt like a typical episode~ in terms of the events that play out. The character, particularly the reintroduction of Mordred, made it more interesting though.
  • IT WAS NOT LONG ENOUGH.
  • Okay, I'm done. Bye.
