i really want to start writing again, short fiction, long fiction even. substack posts. fanfiction for once (ive only ever written one short piece). fuck - more smut even. any tips on how to get back into it?
i got back into reading by going back to rereading to build my muscle back up, but writing seems so much harder, especially now that i have almost 2 novels worth of philosophy writing under my belt between all my theses and essays. its like its worn out, and i finished such a huge project with my MA that it's hard to even know where to start again - starting my MA was my biggest hurdle. once i started properly I was on a roll.
i would love to do philosophy or poetry on my substack, but i don't know the format really, or how to dive into a topic for people on such a short format - i always have to give so much explanation since i want my philosophy to be accessible, and that requires starting from the beginning. i feel like my philosophical view, which is one that is trans, feminist, and poc-inclusive, is kind of unique - and the fact that i use it to comment on internet trends/happenings is cool too, and interesting. but having to explain modern existentialism in the way i understand/crafted it - which took 15k words in my thesis - much too long for an email, i feel. what is the typical substack post length anyway? how would I break something like that up?
anyway. sorry for rambles. again - any tips for building the writing muscle back up, something i havent done reliably in years (excluding uni thesis work), would be much appreciated.
