Viserys. I’ll give them that one he was a shit and IDC if Daenerys would have danced the jig when he died or not.
Mirri. Ah…context. Funny how none of the extenuating circumstances are explored on the “slaver…slaver…slaver” gifs but on Mirri all the “context” we’re supposed to know is that “killed her husband…murdered her unborn child.” If we’re supposed to call the others what they are then call Mirri what she was: SLAVE.
Mirri was a slave who maybe killed her master and maybe murdered her unborn future master.
Pyat Preet. Another asshole I don’t give a shit about who I’ll agree got what he deserved.
The Masters. Did they deserve it? Yes. Did Daenerys do it for altruistic means? No. She tried to buy that “army of abducted infants” first and only when one of her dragons was demanded as payment did she act. Also, she only “freed” that “army of abducted infants” after she commanded them—as slaves—to kill the masters. Would they have done so as free men? Probably. Did she give them that option? Nope.
Random slaver. Not for nothing that said random slaver may or may not have deserved it but maybe next time Daenerys wants to “set an example” she can burn Jorah Mormont alive instead. It’s hard to take the “breaker of chains” seriously when she takes council from an unrepentant slave trader. Also, that particular man was innocent of the crime she made up to accuse him of…mainly because she made it up to “set an example.”
Slavers again. But they weren’t all slavers were they. Quite a few “freed men” were part of that rabble too…
Probably the same men who argued in favor of selling themselves back into slavery because Mhysa had fucked up their economy so badly…
The Khals. Yeah I don’t care about these assholes either. Exceeeeept…she went back. All those disgusting threats of rape and death only happened AFTER she went back to face them. She had an escape but she wanted a Dothraki horde. And before anyone cries about her wanting to save the Dothraki people…cry me a fucking river. White savior tropes aside, she left all the women and children in Essos and took all the fighting men with her to Westeros. She wanted an army…she didn’t give a shit about their threats.
Slavers again. “Were going to sell her people back into slavery again…?” What? Was she worried she wouldn’t get a cut of the profits this time? I get that this was a battle and don’t think that it really qualifies as a MAD KWEEN KILLS IT WITH FIRE moment but spare me the savior of the slaves bullshit. Meereen was a shit hole by this point—a shit hole Daenerys had a hand in creating. If she actually gave two shits about the people in Meereen she wouldn’t left her dragons rain down fire willy nilly all over the place. See the fighting pits for further reference.
The Tyrells and Jaime Lannister. By this same token, that means that Jaime was completely justified in killing Olenna since she was directly involved in Joffrey’s death. Shit King that he was, he was still the King so IDK what to tell you. Context man. Also that food…
The Tyrells Again. That food. Maybe her concern about them “stealing food” would be more believable if a.) she had any more right to it than they did and b.) she hadn’t burned all of it because of a temper tantrum. Also, killing the Tarlys was not justified—murdering people for refusing to bend is not what a so called “hero” does (that’s what Boltons and Lannisters do—so they were justified too now?)—they should have been taken prisoner and put on trial. See Tyrion Lannisters many, many trials after being accused of far worse crimes than not sufficiently kissing Daenerys Targaryen’s conceited ass.
Context, context, context…funny how that works. Daenerys was justified in some of these instances but in others she was just another asshole throwing around her weight because she could. Also, for those saying that heel turn in season eight was completely unearned:
Season 7…we already addressed that nonsense up top.
Blood of my blood. You kept all your promises to me. You killed my enemies in their iron suits. You tore down their stone houses. You gave me the Seven Kingdoms. Unsullied, all of you were torn from your mother’s arms and raised as slaves. Now, you are liberators. You have freed the people of King’s Landing from the grip of a tyrant. But the war is not over. We will not lay down our spears until we have liberated all the people of the world! From Winterfell to Dorne, from Lannisport to Qarth, from the Summer Isles to the Jade sea. Women, men and children have suffered too long beneath the wheel. Will you break the wheel with me?“
Jon: The world we need is a world of mercy. It has to be.
Daenerys: And it will be. It’s not easy to see something that’s never been before: a good world.
Jon: How do you know? How do you know it will be good?
Daenerys: Because I know what is good — and so do you.
Daenerys: You do. You’ve always known.
Jon: What about everyone else? All the other people who think they know what’s good?
Daenerys: They don’t get to choose.
I mean she’s been banging on about taking back what is supposedly “hers” with “fire and blood” since season fucking two. So why any of y’all are surprised that she tried to do just that is beyond me. Context I guess? 🤷🏽♀️
