what's happening with same sex marriage equality in thailand: a thread (july 2020).

ever since the thai government announced it would be taking into consideration its population's views on the subject, a civil partnership bill has been approved, that is waiting for parliamentary vote, that will legalise same sex union in the country, with almost the same rights as married couples including child adoption and joint property ownership. however, there are elements in it that thai (lgbt+) people have concerns with, such as: the bill allows same sex couples to register their union, but has been criticised for only covering property and inheritance and for being vague about whether "civil partners" are entitled to the same rights, duties, and protection that thai marriage law gives married couples. the thread, linked above, provides more details, as well what thai citizens can do to show their concerns regarding the civil partnership bill, such as: its definition of "civil partnership" as being between two individuals of the same gender as assigned at birth, thus excluding trans and non-binary individuals, as well as other issues listed in the thread.

Lads, we've all been looking away from Israel for a minute, what with a pandemic and these world wide protests, but I urge you to focus some of your attention and activism on what they're doing in Palestine right now,

the Israeli government has recently leaked and heavily circulated a plan for official annexation of the Palestinian West Bank (x, x, x)

Although Israel’s presence in Gaza and the West Bank has long been criticised and condemned by the UN and the international community (bar the US and a few other allied countries), Israel is now seizing the chance to make this official. Since the world is looking away, mostly turned inwards because of corona and poor economic circumstances, this significantly lessens international pressure on Israel.

Israel tries to claim support for it’s egregious actions and humanitarian violations by saying that they represent the voices of Jews all around the world, which they don’t. Please focus some of your attention on the voices of Palestinians at the moment, and stand in solidarity with them. Here are some fantastic resources. Be more vocal about this issue, because the media has been almost radio silent, and we can’t let something this extreme pass quietly.

the one petition everyone is sharing is for João Pedro, was was killed inside his home, he was shot on his back. 70, and i repeat, 70 shots were fired against the house he was in, and the police claimed it was because they were in a confront. everyone near his house confirmed there wasn’t anything going around.

They were killed on an event now known as “Chacina do Borel” it happened in 2003 and no one was held responsible.

HERINALDO VINICIUS DE SANTANA. he was an eleven years old boy who left his house to buy a ping pong ball. he was with money on his hands. His last words were “I want my mom”

ALAN DE SOUZA LIMA. He was fifteen and his last words “we were just playing, sir”

DOUGLAS RODRIGUES, 17 years old. His last words: “Why did you shoot me, Sr?”. The policemen was acquitted for lack of evidence.

REMEMBER MATEUS SANTOS DE MORAIS, FIVE YEARS OLD. FIVE. YEARS. OLD. He got shot while playing in front of his house. SAY HIS NAME.

ÁGATHA FELIX. 8 YEARS OLD. She was returning home with her mother when she got shot. FOR NO REASON. SAY HER NAME.

FABIO DOS SANTOS VIERA, 21 years. He was shot because, according to the police, he was holding a gun. That gun was never found.

EVALDO DOS SANTOS ROSA, 51 years old. 257 SHOTS FIRED AT HIS CAR. SAY HIS NAME. His family was inside of it too, including a 7 year old kid. Evaldo died instantly. NO JUSTICE NO PEACE

EMILLY CAETANO DA COSTA, 9 years old, was shot two times on the back. The police said the vehicle her family was in was suspicious. They chased the car and shot five times. Her mom, dad, and two sisters were in the car.

LUCAS, 14 years old,disappeared after some cops take him out from his home, his body was found floating at a lake in a park.

MARIA EDUARDA, 13 YEARS OLD. Killed inside of her SCHOOL! SAY HER NAME

PEDRO GONZAGA, 19, killed by a supermarket security guard. He was suffocated and suffered cardiac arrest.

KETELLEN GOMES, 5 years old. Was riding her bike when she was shot during a police operation. Her last words was “Mom, don’t cry, no, mom”. The target from the shooters was Davi Gabriel Martins Nascimento, 17 years old, who also died.

if the bill passes, this gives the ph government the right to arrest ANYBODY under the notion of being a "terrorist." they will monitor everybody's internet. this is a direct violation of freedom of speech and it's unfolding right before our eyes.

The Malacañang Palace has ignored email protests (I'm pretty sure as they blocked a strongly worded email from yours truly) and they aren't known for accepting petitions. There are several citizens who have already been threatened or killed after being red-tagged by the government. Most recently, the Armed Forces of the Philippines shot and killed Carlito Badion, a known activist serving the urban-poor sector who has always been vocal about the crimes committed by the administration against its own people.

PLEASE SPREAD THE WORD! This administration has done everything in its power to ceaselessly see to the disenfranchisement of poor and indigenous Filipinos. As we speak, political spokespersons who are staunchly against this bill are receiving death threats. We need this information to be spread by people this damned government can't touch.

George Floyd was killed by an officer while being handcuffed. He was PLEADING for breath.

A black man asked a woman to put her dog on a leash. The woman then threatened to call the cops on HIM and accuse him of threatening her.

A white pastor claimed two black men kidnapped him to cover up the fact that he was in the hotel room because he was cheating on his wife.

A white woman drowned her nine-year-old son with autism, and said a black man had done it.

Regis Korchinski Paquet was shoved off the balcony by an officer. She died.

Tony McDade, a transgender man, was shot and killed by an officer.

These are all under 72 hours. 3 days. Now, realize what happens in a month.
