Be sure to watch Barbara on this season of Worst Cooks in America: Celebrity Edition on the Food Network channel. The Season premiere is this Wednesday, September 14 at 9pm Eastern / 8pm Central.
For those wondering, Barbara was not allowed to use magic in the kitchen. Apparently, that would constitute an unfair advantage! In the words of Jeannie, "I have to cook dinner. I mean actually cook it without magic. We are all liable to die." ;) Check your local listings for more info on the airings, and be sure to set your DVRs so you don't miss out on all the fun! In the meantime, enjoy watching this funny teaser for #WorstCooks. - Team Eden
They say that dogs are man’s best friend. While I agree with the sentiment, I do not quite think it truly honors our canine friends fully. At least in respect to my darling Djinn Djinn.
You see, my Djinn Djinn, (while named by my husband Jon after the rascal from “Jeannie” who loved to destroy uniforms and terrorize NASA) could not have been more opposite from his television namesake. Honestly he was every bit the type of dog one always dreams of having.
His deep loveable eyes spoke not only volumes when he looked at me but were wells of love. His darling face and expressions earned him the nickname of “The Face” as he was so clever at delivering an expression. One look from Djinn Djinn told us he either knew exactly what we were saying or the exact expression that would win him the specific object of his attention; which was often a treat or toy.
When company would arrive Djinn Djinn was always on his best behavior. Quite the ladies man he often would place his head on a knee and look up with those big beautiful brown eyes that always won him a scratch on the head or behind the ears.
His intelligence was astounding. While most pets I imagine pay no attention to television screens, Djinn Djinn could sit for hours watching a variety of programs featuring animals of all species. If we ever questioned his interest being of any significance, he would tilt his head left, then right as the animals on the screen would make noises. He knew what he was watching.
Whenever I would be away from home Djinn Djinn would sit eagerly at the television if I was on and watch and listen. He not only knew my voice but he would watch until the program ended.
I am sharing this with you because today, our darling sweet Djinn Djinn passed away peacefully here at home. For the past thirteen years Djinn Djinn made this house more than a house, he made it home. When I think of all the wonderful times we had with him I firmly stand behind my belief that dogs are not just man’s best friend, they possess the inherent traits making them capable of so much more. Djinn Djinn knew when we were sad, he knew when we were frustrated and he knew exactly how to make us feel better, without even trying.
No, dogs are more than man’s best friend, my Djinn Djinn was so much more than just that. He was my sweet baby, he was Jon’s buddy and an element of my life these past thirteen years that will always bring a smile to my face and light in my heart.
Dear sweet Djinn Djinn, you will always be a part of us, the joy you brought to our lives we will always have. While you have gone from us here, your memory will fill our hearts, becoming part of us and remind us of how precious you will always remain.
-Barbara

When I heard the news that Garry Marshall had passed I immediately thought of his charming personality and incredible sense of self. Garry was a darling man who was at home with himself and the world. His personality was warm and refreshing, caring and genuine. My dear neighbor the late Tom Bosley hosted many dinners at his home with his wife Pat. It was at many of these dinners my husband and I joined Garry and his lovely wife Barbara. It was always a pleasure seeing Garry and Barbara. Garry’s love and care for his friends and family was undeniable.
In the industry Garry was a champion at his craft. His method of building films and television shows around human fallibility was impeccable. His personal nature and kindness shined through his directing which endeared the characters he developed to countless millions. Garry was always able to find the commonality between the audiences, characters and story which captivated the viewers. He truly was a genius.
My deepest condolences and heart-felt thoughts and prayers to his wife Barbara, his children Scott, Kathleen and Lori in this time of his passing. Also, my love and thoughts to his sisters Penny and Ronny.
We are so blessed to have such a rich history full of his creations and talent to look back on when we need it most.
Most Sincerely, Barbara
Too cute! This made me giggle. -B
Hello! I hope all of my American fans and friends, both here in the States and abroad are having a great day today on the 240th Birthday of our great nation! It often seems that many people have forgotten that "The 4th of July" is more than just a day off to eat good food and watch fireworks. Though I am sure many still remember that today is a celebration of our independence. A reminder of how hard our founding fathers fought to give us a country where we are free to reach for our dreams. A country where life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness aren't figments of the imagination, but things that are tangible and real. I have no doubt that if 240 years ago we had not won the Revolutionary War, our world would be a much different and darker place than it is now. I am proud to be an American, a citizen of the Shining City on the Hill as John Winthrop described us and as President Reagan referred to us constantly. Though often we are bumped and bruised, we are still here. The beacon of light and hope in the darkness of oppression across the world. As I look out at the beautiful land around us my heart bursts with joy. We are still free and I salute all the brave men and women who have fought both on the ground, in the skies, on the waters here and abroad to keep our nation free. We should never, ever forget that what we have was FOUGHT for and WON. It was not handed to us, we had to FIGHT for it and DIE for it. We are here today because those brave soldiers didn't back down, they didn't surrender, they didn't run. Two-hundred and forty years later, we are still here. For that I am so very thankful. May God bless all of you and may God continue to bless these wonderful United States of America! Happy Independence Day! -Barbara
