Xena Warrior Princess 3.18 Fins, Femmes And Gems
Two of the most common critiques of DATV:
- I miss the old games taking risks with having unpleasant characters like Morrigan or Anders - this cast is too nice and likeable
- Taash is unlikeable
Obviously a lot of that is dogwhistling but also TBQH it’s really some selective memory when people look fondly back on how Dragon Age characters Used To Be Unlikeable because it’s like… no you did actually like Morrigan lol. She is simply evil-flavoured. Other characters like Sera or Sebastian (Blackwall also, to a degree) have always gotten widespread, genuine hate.
big things are coming for one special ant
It's with a heavy but hopeful heart that I watch Palestinian families fundraiser on here, slowly accumulating the precious little money to go around that they need to survive. However, not everyone is so lucky. A lot of Palestinians that have not had that kind of luck, that did not get early verification, that did not get massive platforms behind them from large bloggers, have approached me in my inbox, asking me kindly to do what I can for them. It kills me that I have so little to give myself, but I've seen this platform collectively raise enough to change someone's life. I've made a list of Palestinian fundraisers that are extremely low on funds, in the hope that drawing attention to people who have not been lucky at all can help turn that luck around. I know most of us can't possibly give enough to get all of these families safe in one go. But please, reblog this list. Pick one or two fundraisers, give what you can, and then keep track of it. Slowly, collectively, we can make a difference in these people's lives. Share and donate as much as you can. https://docs.google.com/document/d/178EGDFKkHlh3y4TMVX82kqgITHsqtoMdNccI2f_94Os/edit?usp=sharing
When I started posting my crossover novel I was committed to like, "I'm not going to try and finish the remaining chapters, I'm not going to rewrite, I am JUST going to post what I already have. If I don't think a chapter is good then MOVE ON." Which is all well and good except I originally wrote it, like, 100% linearly, and there was this one chapter where I was stuck on a character's entrance, so I abruptly switched to that character's perspective and had them think about what to do next. And this worked! But it sucks to read! Probably because it's a Doorway Scene and I'm strongly anti-Doorway Scenes (unless building the tension of entering a location is somehow important to the story). As a result, I've just been trying to lightly edit this scene for like two weeks while being like uggghhh this is awful. Anyway finally I was like "fuck no rewrites, I am starting from a blank page and doing a completely different scene" and as much as I thought that would be a time sink... it worked lol. Now I have two pages that are better and I'm not stuck anymore. Sometimes you do actually need to tear it up and start again.
now more than ever I think it's important for people to remember that puberty blockers *were* the compromise position.
if you start from a position that trans people should have equal rights in society, then it becomes obvious that all the faux concern about "irreversible changes" is utter bs, because puberty itself is irreversible, and these people want all trans people to be forced to go through the wrong one
the people calling for our healthcare to be banned don't give a single solitary fuck about the "irreversible changes" that they want every single trans person to be forcibly subjected to
Have I ever mentioned that I like ghost trick
me when i remember that i can't obliterate people with chain lightning at any time for any reason
Skara Brae Buddo, human figure carved from whalebone, dated c. 2,900 – 2,400 BC. Discovered at Skara Brae, a Neolithic settlement located in the Bay of Skaill on the Mainland, an island in the Orkney archipelago of Scotland.
Never have I related to an artifact more. Stay strong, little buddy
Watching the Solas backstory memory thingies
Me: So. Hang on. This is what Solas “wanted to forget” the most? But that means, given how Cole’s empathy works, these insane lore drops are not only stuff he was aware of during their conversations, but actually the MOST PROMINENT memories that Solas had. To him. (Head in hands)
My wife: Yeah. In a very real sense, Solas exposition is actually Cole exposition.
cassandra’s real problem is she was born in goth nation but she’s a jock.
Song: A Cygnet Artist: Hitoshi Sakimoto, Masaharu Iwata From: Tactics Ogre: Let Us Cling Together
Listen on Youtube:
A Cygnet is a very unique song in the OST because it stands out from all the layered orchestral pieces. It feels very lonely and quiet.
I prefer both the PSP remake's version and its reorchestration for Tactics Ogre: Reborn over the original track, but it's a beautiful piece no matter the release.
It's also one of the two songs that was written as a character's theme since it's meant to be Catiua's theme.
A cygnet/Catiua's theme "We wanted to strike a good balance between soft and sharp tones, and tried a number of different harps until we found the right one. The tempo is slower than the original, and we have tweaked the variations." (PSP soundtrack commentary by Azusa Chiba (arranger))
The only other character's theme is her brother Denam's: Restriction. They're listed next one above the other in the OST, which makes the contrast between them even more blatant.
(31:40)
Restriction/Denam's theme: "This piece abounds with the sense of valor and the exuberance of youth. We have extended the original, and hinted at the trouble that is to befall him with a melody using stringed instruments." (PSP/Reborn soundtrack commentary by Yoshimi Kudo (arranger))
Hers is a guarded lullaby which exposes her more vulnerable nature, while his is a dynamic buoyant march. There is so much in the game that leads back to their relationship, their contrasting personalities and choices, and the way they misunderstand one another... and it feels like a part of this is reflected in their themes.
Genuine question since the media in my surrounding has become progressively anti-immigrant and (especially) anti-Indian; is there not an issue due to the number of immigrants in Canada? I’ve been under the impression that, compounded with inflation and companies buying up housing/buildings, the sheer number of immigrants were putting a strain on the housing market and (in part) causing the housing crisis? Also that a lot of companies have been declaring to the government they “can’t find workers” and getting subsidies to exploit immigrants, explaining why so many are working in places like Tim Hortons instead of places they’re qualified for since their diplomas are likely not recognized by our “amazing” government
Please don't accept the xenophobia that right wing parties and the media is shovelling out. It is not reflective of reality, and is scapegoating real people:
The Ryuki and Akane scenes are absolutely my favourite to write. Although I have to work to not make them sound like Mattias and Ellie from BDBN, hahaha
Fandoms: AI: The Somnium Files, Zero Escape | Rating: M Word Count: 6794 | Chapters: 2/18 Characters: Kuruto Ryuki, Akane Kurashiki, Bibi, Tama, Original Female Character(s), Marco Genre: Mystery, Time Travel, Metafiction
Chapter 2: In which Ryuki interviews a concerned party.
“Mr. Kubota’s work... it was very inspiring to me. I’m studying engineering—I guess you could say that’s because of him. He was like a mentor figure.” Akane frowned, as if she wasn’t content with that answer. “Or... hm...” “Like he gave you a purpose in life?” Ryuki supplied. Akane closed her eyes. “Exactly like that.”
OK we got spoiled on a major ending plot point but it was actually something I’d suspected/spitballed early in the game so the conversation was pretty funny
(I cannot stress enough that I’m only 20 hours into the game so please don’t tell me anything else)
