Food and Home no longer have the article, however The Wondersmith did a cooler version on her blog for Imbolc Candle Cakes
Just finished making a spell candle for Samhain! The fragrance is so strong but it’s pumpkin spice, dragonsblood, some apple wax melt (tossed it in when I was running out of wax lol) and some wax melts my witch friend bought me from Black Moon Botanica called Samhain which smells like pumpkin and bourbon. I topped it with pieces of shattered tourmaline I kept in a jar once it smashed into a million pieces :( and sprinkled dragonsblood powder and black mica.
It’s made with the intention for us to help evolve past beliefs that were holding us back and help us transform ourselves.
WITCHY QUESTION OF THE DAY: What kind of witchy crafts do you like to do? Lately I’ve been thinking about getting into candle making. 🕯
Made some spell candles for Pisces full moon this Friday
I’m getting into tealights cause the burn is about an hour and it’s good to focus a spell where as pillars I’ve been using go for 12+ hours. Plus tealights are fun to make and pour energy into
This is teal wax (a kind of earthy green blue color that’s a good fusion of the Pisces Virgo sister energies), blended with lavender and rosemary oil, moonstone crystal chips, green pearl powder and blue mica, and rosemary and lavender loose herbs. It’s chilling with my serpentine pillar and I’m planning to give two of the three to some witch friends for them to use on the full moon. With the serpentine energy I hope it does well to align our dreams with tangible goals we are capable of accomplishing.
HONEY MEAD Gilded Blót Votives w/ Real Honey for Seidr, Heathen Rune Ancestor Ritual, Northern Tradition Witchcraft, Sorcery, Sweet Blessing by ArtisanWitchcrafts, $15.95
My first crystal candle!! There were many mistakes but for the first time I'm happy the way this came out! It smells like sandalwood but since I didn't bind it well together there's leaks in the crystal. Also since tumblr is being a butt I had to upload this to my Instagram, share to my main and reblog this here lol.
Lemon pillar candle for midsummer
I just saw your candle making post, and I remembered this video I saw that said to make a candle with canola oil. Canola oil's flash point is much lower than the temperature at which a wick burns. Such a bad idea. If people want to do homemade candles with anything but wax they need to make sure it's safe. I just wanted to put this out there so maybe less people get hurt.
please ignore me and my sudden obsession with candle making. I love these cause you can twist them into shapes as they’re cooling. Imagine making little spiral candles or zig zags. You also can dip them in multiple layers so as they melt they can bleed another color.
