of Clouds and Stars

@ofcloudsandstars / ofcloudsandstars.tumblr.com

Welcome everyone of the magical, the undefined, the chaotic and ethereal kind. This is a blog for my witch path and personal magical ramblings. I'm 28, a bioregional animist witch who is a bit nomadic but currently residing in London (air element, Libra). Originally from Montclair NJ and NYC. My preferred climate is four seasonal temperate deciduous. Coping with this gray oceanic highland climate in the UK that's like bi-seasonal. Femme-aligned agender, she/they, mixed black, pansexual, I follow the seasonal witch holidays but "secularly". I think my witch strengths are astrology (which most people follow me for) and spamming aesthetics/ideas for the sabbats.

I had an interesting conversation with a witch friend since I work closely with planets and we were talking about planetary correspondences with things and in this context it was plants and she was recommending books by people on how certain plants or substances aren't just singularly ruled by one planet (The Witching Herbs by Harold Roth fyi) and it turned out we shared the same sentiment!

I think especially working with astrology almost religiously with my craft it taught me to look at so many things as their own unique elementary correspondence and how they can work together even if their energies might not be harmonious. Like each planet to me is it's own element of energy and though- lets say for example: mugwort is pretty lunar, (for dreaming and regulating the ovaries), it can also be compatible with neptune or "exalted" with saturn (since it helps cleanse and regulate). Rose quartz can be very venusian, but lunar if its to bring emotional balance, it could do great with solar magic and could be slightly difficult to harmonize with plutonian magic, but though rose quartz might vibe the best with venus it can be applied to many planets as nothing really 'rules' any correspondence. I think I like to use the term 'rules' if the energy is so compatible and harmonious that there's no point on trying to make other connections like for example Moon stones are ruled by the moon lol. Carnelian is ruled by mars. Sunflowers are solar. etc. etc.

But also how each planetary body rotates through the constellations, their elements are unique to those still of the four elements (earth-physical-solid, water-emotional-liquid, air-mental-gas, fire-spirt-energy). Like many associate mars with fire, maybe because Mars rules Aries but Mars is not singularly fire, Mars has it's own elemental energy and can be expressed through the four elements as mars transits the different zodiac signs. I have a natal watery mars (mars in cancer also conjunct Juno), and I express mars through emotional passion, devotion towards others I care deeply about, protection and emotional labor. Mars is that of motivation, action and drive and when it's expressed along with the element of water it becomes emotional drive and passion for things that move you emotionally.

I love learning aspects between planets and also the terms 'in detriment, fall, exalted' etc cause it's language to describe the flow of energy but also that flow exists here on earth with other energies and it kind of opened up my perspective on how different elements can work together
