Áine O’Dwyer – Locusts + Gegenschein - LP Bundle

Locusts and Gegenschein follow up the highly acclaimed ‘Music for Church Cleaners’ release from Irish artist Áine O’Dwyer. Whilst continuing to explore the church organ as the primary instrument, these two releases steer away from Church Cleaners in both sonic content and themes explored.

Hecker - A Script For Machine Synthesis - CD

The latest work from Florian Hecker A Script for Machine Synthesis is an experimental auditory drama and a model of abstraction. A Script for Machine Synthesis presents a complex simplicity that spirals in an unending manner as an audio image of the uncanny valley. It is the third chapter in the trilogy of text-sound pieces Hecker has collaborated with the philosopher Reza Negarestani. A resynthesized voice outlines procedure as procedure itself unfolds.

Marcel Duchamp - The Entire Musical Work of Marcel Duchamp - LP

Originally released by Multhipla Records, The Entire Musical Work of Marcel Duchamp is a collection of experimental pieces composed in 1913 by the legendary artist, and executed by Petr Kotik and the S.E.M. Ensemble in 1976.

Employing chance operations and non-musical sounds, Marcel Duchamp’s musical œuvre predated some radical concepts developed forty years later by John Cage.

Christina Kubisch & Fabrizio Plessi - Two and Two - LP

TWO AND TWO is the outcome of the ambitious research developed by Christina Kubisch and Fabrizio Plessi in 1976, a collaborative effort towards the merging of visual and sound elements into a new form of intermedia. Influenced by the aesthetics of Fluxus, the duo produced a highly complex and articulated performance, involving two camera operators and several video screens, as well as a variety of objects and unconventional instruments. The results is structured into four parts inspired by the natural elements, in which single instruments loose their different sonic characteristics to become inseparable parts of a unique visual/acoustic process.

Kleistwahr - Music for Zeitgeist Fighters - LP

New album by the much revered solo project of Gary Mundy (Ramleh / Broken Flag).

2 pieces of intense, emotional and purgative electronics miles away from audiophile realms. “Welcome to 2017. I’m laughing because I’m thinking of music and I’m thinking of death. Welcome to the Captagon, the room is dizzy and moving.

The DJ’s turntables are on fire and the heat hits me full on as I walk onto the dancefloor. Distorted sounds like the bass rumbles or high frequencies are moving from one wall to another, tracer fire and the screams of soldiers in makeshift cages. Perilous geography. Some coded references to sobbing teenagers on tape or scattered corpses in plazas.

I’m laughing because of what we all must look like. You perhaps with a biro scrawled note pinned to your chest. Not taped to the front of your shirt, but actually securely pinned to your flesh. Imagine us all like that. Not fucking photoshopped or some shit like that. Maybe a painting, with flames in the distance and the howling of the dogs. Can’t see in or out.

Fucked forever in mountains and cellars and attics and seas. Really don’t want to ruin the fun and generally I’m up for anything but this fucking shit cannot go on, can it?" Philip Best, Austin, Texas - USA - January 2017

Ariel Guzik - Cordiox - LP - VON Archives

In the history of all Von releases and in our quest for understanding the cross overs of visual and sound phenomena, Cordiox stands as the most hermetic and fabulous, not only for its immense quality and the importance of it as a document, but also because it follows up the tradition of invoking spectral imaging, visualising the invisible through sound and echoing cross-temporal vision. – Von Archives

Incredible spectral ambient invocation from hitherto unknown Ariel Guzik, producing the first great drone album of 2017. Huge recommendation if you're into Harry Bertoia, Thomas Köner, Eliane Radigue etc. A haunting play of space, place and parapsychology, Cordiox was recorded using a custom-made installation displayed at the National Pavillion in Venice back in 2013. The sound sculpture comprised of a main cylinder and 180 strings spaced out like a harp, effectively transmuting its environment and the presence of visitors into the four steeply psychedelic pieces on this record. Using the church as a huge, unpredictable resonator, Guzik draws us into the church’s symphonic microcosm of frequencies, creating a feedback system that allows the building to speak as though revealing EVP. Most crucially, the sounds captured are impossible to pin down; they could never have been mechanically or digitally produced, instead offering us a glimpse at a fleeting moment in space and time, never to be repeated. For these hectic, overwhelming days, spending an hour of your un-distracted time locked away with this record is like tonic for the mind; at once soothing, moving and thought provoking - an exceptionally beautiful reminder of the passage of time. -Boomkat

Jean-Marie Massou – SODOROME Vol.1

Jean-Marie Massou shall soon be turning seventy. He can’t read or write and lives completely alone, secluded in the middle of the Bouriane forest in the south of France. Massou had already captivated his audience when, for more than three decades, he dug gigantic chasms and underground tunnels through the sheer superhuman strength of his arms. Quite a mission, or as he calls it, ‘The Global Mission’ which is aimed at warning mankind that the world is heading for its downfall, that it’s a question of protecting those who are still here. With SODOROME, it’s his voice that we want people to listen to, his voice and its musical talent. Because not only is Massou unusual, he gets particularly involved where few others would in the creative process, and his recordings today take up the majority of his time, he uses several tape recorders to develop loops or soundtracks, re-records the sound several times to create the desired effect, etc. He records snippets from his life on it, makes up stories on it, performs sketches, or stores premonitory dreams from the previous night in his memory on it. What is staggering is that Massou speaks to his potential listener, a distant musical ear, meaning that we are just the middlemen. We strike a chord, one that backs up popular songs as it does classical or church choirs, those tunes that withstand the tests of history and mankind as a whole. We can’t escape from music these days, we can even pick up a radio signal in the depths of the forest, so Massou also uses the modern era to his advantage, he tinkers with modern tools, the radio that he records, cassette tapes as an editing aid and reporting tool, DVDs for extracting the soundtracks etc. We are indisputably close to a real lo-fi music or a set of experimental montages. Maybe that’s what the raw uses of music are, this way of approaching the same worries but through ways that are all the more personal.

Eli Keszler - Last Signs of Speed - 2LP

Last Signs is Eli’s first solo release since 2012’s Catching Net (PAN Records) and explores a very different side of his unique acoustic universe. One in which the macrocosmic percussive collisions of his earlier work give way to a gradual unfolding of dub-influenced rhythmic constellations. Eli has described Last Signs as his response to playing in club environments over the last few years; an attempt to negotiate a delicate balance between the materiality of his acoustic instrument and the hyper-mediated sonic ecosystem of the club sound system. Coming off like an inspired synthesis between Scientist and Xenakis, Last Signs of Speed is a truly unique work by an artist at the height of his powers.
