For the WIP meme: nod (any tense)
Harry grimaced but nodded contritely, drawing circles in his porridge with a spoon.
the word is "smile" (in any tense)
Lucy sighed and smiled softly at the sound of her youngest son shrieking “Harry, you fly so fast!” coming through the open window.

“I’m afraid that’s not possible right now, Harry. There aren’t many teachers staying at the school right now, everyone is in and out,” Dumbledore paused and smiled kindly at his student. “Even teachers get holidays.”
“I personally have no desire to ever get on that thing again,” Cate remarked wryly, smiling at the enthusiasm with which Harry told his tale.
Cate really doesn't like rollercoasters and the Knight Bus just gives that vibe.
imagining a tender moment between your own ocs but you are the only person with any context
By NurseLaney
As they walked through the house, Remus providing random anecdotes about the rooms his inner wolf had called home during his time as a student, Cate’s eyes caught on the different signs of his presence. Deep claw marks gouged into the floor in one of the bedrooms, scratches on the wall, a large hole where a door used to be. She tried to imagine a tiny, first-year Remus Lupin, sitting on that bed anxiously awaiting the moment his body would transform.
“How old were you? When you were bitten?” Cate asked hesitantly. “Dumbledore just told me that you had already been turned before your first year.”
Remus paused, looking at her with a closed-off expression on his face. The silence stretched for a long breathless moment between them before he turned to look out the window.
“I was four.”

This may be a dumb question but how do you normally create yours ocs. Like is their a template you tend to follow?
Not a dumb question! But I don't have a template. Honestly, I'm not very organized when it comes to creating an OC. Most of it is in my head and a lot of the details are very fluid - so I can discover more about them while I'm writing.
Other OC authors, feel free to reblog if you're more of a template person when creating.
I've used a template from the FC5 fandom that just asks you a bunch of basic questions like name, gender identity, birthdate, family, location, identifying features etc.
It helps me organize my thoughts about them to have the basic things written down sometimes so I can refer back and be like ok how old was this character when they got this scar? How much younger is their little sister? I don't use it with every oc though.
I will open separate docs to help me keep track of things I learn about my OC as I'm writing. For Cate Fawley, I have a doc that is books she's written and then books by other historians that she uses as textbooks for her students. I also have a doc for her teaching schedule and lesson plans at Hogwarts, it's the most frustratingly wonderful thing, I hate love it.
Talking about my ocs pets
1. Killy - OC Cate Fawley's bird
Killy is an American Kestrel that has been charmed to deliver mail. Cate's step-dad, John-Dad, gave him to her when she graduated from the Meriwether Lewis School of Magic. Cate hadn't really needed a mail bird prior to that, as she lived at home and used the floo network to attend school in Pierre. Even after she moved to New Orleans to complete her masteries in History and Runes, she didn't really need to use Killy all that often as she had an enchanted mirror to talk to John-dad and floo access for weekend fire calls with her best friend, Kimi. As such, Killy was spoiled rotten with treats and leisurely flights with Cate over the bayou. He is a very affectionate bird, and likes to chat, trilling a hello to her whenever she comes home. During the school year, Killy likes to sit on Cate's shoulder while she grades papers and nibble at her hair.
2.) Helga - OC Susanna Abrams' cat
Susanna had left her childhood cat, Helga, in the care of her parents after it was decided that Helga would not be happy moving to Mozambique with Su and Uri. Now that Susanna has moved back to England with her daughter, Sharie, Helga is happily back to lazing around on Su's lap whenever Su gets a chance to sit down with a cup of tea or a glass of wine and a book. She is a Norwegian Forest cat with just a tiny bit (1/5) of kneazle bred in.
Helga had LOVED Uri, she used to shamelessly flip over on top of him purring like a machine. Now, Little Sharie gets the same attention and Helga is quite jealous when Sharie picks out her own cat, Chester, to take with her to Hogwarts.
While Helga had adored Su's first husband, she's not so sure about her widowed owner's new suitors. There's something very canine about them and she makes sure they know they're not welcome whenever they show up for tea.
Share 10 facts about Cate, please! :)
1.) Her patronus is a whale, representing her heavy reliance on her own intuition, her interest in history, her preference for solitude or the company of a select few, and her compassion.
2.) Her wand core is the horn of a horned serpent, a good wand for parselmouths.
3.) She inherited her ability to speak to snakes from her biological father. When she was little, speaking to snakes would trigger her mother's PTSD which led to unhealthy punishments as her mother would lock her in the closet so she could have a break down without physically hurting Cate. Even though John-dad taught her to appreciate her gift and understand how important parselmagic was for healing in other magical cultures, she still avoids it as much as possible because of the negative associations.
4.) Her relationship with her mother improved once John-dad came into their lives, and it was finally resembling a healthy mother-daughter relationship once they both started therapy with Healer Cohen. But while Isolde apologized many times to her daughter for things that happened during Cate's childhood, Cate never managed to verbally forgive her mother before she died. It is something she regrets.
5.) Her relationship with Mato is the first love that never goes away. She thinks she'll love him till she dies even though she doesn't believe that she deserves to be loved by him. It's hard to have a healthy relationship when you don't love yourself and Cate's self loathing has always been a problem in their relationship.
6.) The relationship she develops with Sirius is born out of mutual understanding. The brokenness in her recognizes the brokenness in him and vice versa.
7.) Kimi will tell you that Cate was the one who matched her with her boyfriend. Cate will tell you that all she did was invite Kimi to come visit. She had no idea Charlie Weasley would be at Hogwarts for the Triwizard Tournament. She had no idea Kimi would be interested. As far as she's concerned, Kimi matched herself.
8.) She's related to Fleur Delacour. Her maternal grandmother's sister was Fleur's paternal grandmother. It's because of this that she somehow finds herself at odds with Molly Weasley.
9.) She is extremely protective of her students.
10.) She gets along with all her coworkers except for Snape. People who hate teaching kids shouldn't be teachers. She takes offense at his bullying methods.
*Cracks knuckles* ok, here we go.
Cate Fawley does not want to be a hero. She doesn't want to be a fighter, a harbinger of doom, or whatever it is you want to call what she's doing.
She wants to be a teacher. She wants to be a historian. She wants to settle down in the American midwest with her stepdad, her best friend, and the boy she's loved forever and teach kids History of Magic and write books and maybe, one day, believe she deserves to be happy and loved enough to marry Matoskah Fasthorse.
But Cate has known her whole life that her father was a monster, that she has the potential in her to be a monster too, and as much as she wants nothing to do with Britain and the fight against Voldemort she knows she can't avoid it. Her mother always told her that she would need to fight, because Isolde wasn't going to live to do so. Cate would have to take her place.
She breaks up with Mato because she doesn't want him to have to wait for her. He's good, and kind, and brave, and wonderful and everything she doesn't feel she deserves and he deserves to be happy.

Susanna had worried about her family in Britain from afar during the first war against Voldemort. The fact that she and her muggle husband had been living abroad had kept them safe. Now, in 1995 with rumors flying and newspapers slandering those who would say the wizard terrorist had returned, Susanna remembers the way her human rights lawyer husband had talked about dictators and how government takeovers always start with the media. Susanna’s instincts tell her that something is wrong. Susanna is a half-blood, Susanna’s daughter is a half-blood. Her little Sharon is a feisty young witch who just got her first wand and is excited to start Hogwarts in the fall. Susanna will do anything to keep her daughter safe. To keep Sharon safe, she needs to know the truth of what is happening.
She starts by arranging a meeting with her auror cousin, Kingsley Shacklebolt.
