I was watching the making of broadchurch 2 on youtube and I want to know
what the frick is this
What really gets me is that all throughout season 1 of Broadchurch, Hardy told Miller not to trust anyone. He reprimanded her whenever she dismissed a suspect based on her personal relationship with them and told her time and again she had to stay impartial and objective.
But then, when he discovered Joe was the killer, he didn’t doubt Miller’s innocence for a single second. After the confession his priority wasn’t to interrogate Miller and establish whether she was an accomplice or not. It was to remove any doubts about her guilt and shield her from blame, all while lending whatever emotional support he could. He was so desperate to help her that he let her see Joe, against his better judgment. He patiently talked her through the whole sorry situation later that night. He told her friends and colleagues it was “unthinkable” for her to have covered anything up and asked them to support her. He cleared her name with the media. He stood by her when no one else did.
Hardy is a man with serious trust issues. His previous DS, his wife, betrayed him and ruined his life. As a detective, he learned it’s better not to trust anyone. All along he said “don’t trust.” And yet, in the end, he wound up trusting Miller more than many of her closest friends did.

Alec Hardy & Ellie Miller s2 Broadchurch
Alec Hardy & Ellie Miller for lauraxxtennant (Happy birthday!!)
Favourite Episode | Series 2 - Ep 5
So many great moments in this episode:
- Ellie’s tear filled meeting with Tom
- “Bumper cars, Hardy”
- Ellie taking over the Sandbrook case
- Alec almost dropping dead and leaving us on the edge of our seats
- Ellie using all the teabags and bread
- Uncle Alec pushing wee Fred in the stroller
- Finding the furnace
The real star of this episode is the way it was shot. The cinematography and scenery were stunning, as well as the use of reflections and camera angles. It is by far my favourite episode of both series.

Chapter 2/?
The phones lit up and rang like a symphony. This happened whenever a major incident occurred. It would start with one call, then another, and another, increasing in frequency until the noise seemed endless. Based on the fragments of conversation he picked up from the communications officers he concluded the conductor of this particular piece was a head-on collision likely blocking traffic. His suspicion was confirmed moments later when the information popped up on one of his many screens.
He didn’t have to look at the map anymore when analyzing these situations. After weeks of training and maneuvering the roads of his new town, the layout was ingrained in his brain, visually at any rate (sometimes he had to consult street names).
His eyes flicked down to the time on the bottom of his main screen. It was after 9:30am; the morning rush would be slowing down. They moved to check which officers were available. He’d send Collins and Parker; they were out patrolling right now anyways. Carter could handle traffic control. He smirked to himself at his assignments. Almost all the coppers hated dealing with redirecting cars, but Carter especially. He felt he was above it. Maybe if he filled out his damn paperwork properly he’d get better assignments.
