I think I'm gonna start using he/him for the moon on purpose now.

So I got curious and decided to see if I could find any masculine lunar deities and there are A TON from Native American and East Asian cultures, so here are a few! Please please please add on if you can think of any more! I wanna hear about more people's belief systems!

Metztli: Aztec god of the Moon, Night and Farmers possibly an aspect of Tecciztecatl, Yohaulticetl or Coyolxauhqui.

Tsukuyomi-no-Mikoto: Japanese Moon kami, often times depicted as a gender, but when they are given a binary gender it is often masculine. I'm not too sure on this one so if anyone knows more about or practices Shintoism I'd love to hear about them.

Fati: Tahitian god of the moon. Again would love to hear more about him if anyone is a practitioner.

Máni: Old Norse personification of the moon, mostly referenced in the Poetic and Prose Edda, but thought to have been elaborated on in now lost kennings.

Chandra: Hindu god of the moon, associated with the night, plants and vegetation

There's more, and if anyone would like to add, I'd appreciate it. But all I will say is that it is an insanely eurocentric and culturally blind notion to assume the moon is ***Always*** a woman. Many cultures refer to the moon as masculine. And many refer to the sun as feminine. The only ones who called the moon "Luna" were the Romans. You're free to ascribe the moon a personification and a deity, but that personification and deity is not going to be shared by everyone.

People do not see masculinity as being as fluid and complex and nuanced as femininity and it’s annoying as hell. Because of patriarchy’s stranglehold on masculinity and radfem theory’s stranglehold on queer spaces, people really think with their whole heart that only femininity is subversive or experimental, or frankly, queer, and that masculinity is only a power grab and nothing more. Embarrassing!

This is literally me as a kid.  Dad used to have the responsibility of giving out the well reports that came in on the friday night to anyone who phoned for the rest of the weekend.  The problem was, on saturday mornings, he was doing the food shopping, so I was given a list of approved callers and he’d leave the well report figures by the phone.
