Wicked OBC Press Reel
Wicked's Birthday Countdown-October 6
Changing Things Up a Bit-Here are ten Wicked confessions from yours truly.
1. It bothers me when people laugh at baby Elphaba being born green
2. I LOVE the Wicked Witch of the East sequence. I know it’s NOT in the OBC recording for spoiler reasons, but I really wish it was.
3. I know there are people who say it’s overrated and well, maybe it is. But it speaks to me, it’s extremely relevant to me, and it will be my favorite musical until I die
4. I LOVE the OBC but it annoys me when people are all “the OBC is the best and everyone else sucks” there are tons of wonderful Elphabas, and Glindas who are just as good as, if not better than Idina and Kristin. (But no disrespect to those ladies, I love them to pieces)
5. When I see the show, I either hate the character of Nessarose or I love her-it all depends upon how the actress portrays her. (Either interpretation works for me, but I will always have a soft spot for Heidi Kettering who made me weep)
6. Sometimes I wonder whenever Boq and Fiyero become the Tin Man and Scarecrow, do they recognize each other? And does Glinda obviously doesn’t recognize Fiyero as the Scarecrow, but does she recognize Boq at all? And sometimes I wonder if maybe Boq/Tin Man and Cowardly Lion were working with Fiyero/the Scarecrow to try and fabricate Elphaba’s melting, that his big speech during “March of the Witch Hunters” is all a façade? Okay maybe I’m overanalyzing everything but I wonder sometimes.
7. I kind of wish that there was a good opportunity to applaud after “Something Bad” because I love Doctor Dillamond and that’s the only song he sings. So I just clap extra hard for him when he bows.
8. One time when I saw the show, there was a Daddy taking his little girl to the show, and every now and then I would glance over at her and watch her falling in love with it head over heels like I did, and it’s still one of my favorite Wicked memories.
9. For the longest time I disliked “Thank Goodness” because when I first heard it I think I was too young to really appreciate it, but as I’ve gotten more mature, that song, especially Glinda’s part towards the end, has become extremely relevant to me in my life.
10. I loved the book, but it was kind of hard for me to get through, but I’m glad I did.
