*FIST PUMPS REPEATEDLY INTO THE AIR IN TIME WITH THE BEAT* What kind of impact has 1 left on your life?
GOD! Kay. Um. Well. Here's the thing. I started listening to Ben Folds Five because my much older sister used to drive me around and I'd have to listen to her music. Before being exposed to what she liked, I didn't really understand music. I listened to the radio. I liked mainstream pop and the oldies (which granted are classics that I grew up on, but I didn't full comprehend their relevance at the time.) I realized that I loved the music I was hearing while sitting in the passenger seat of that shitty Honda and also that my sister was awesome. So I started listening to Ben Folds independently which led me to other artists which led me to other artists and so on and so forth. I piggy backed on my Sister's taste for a while until I knew enough to develop my own, and Ben Folds was the catalyst. He's why I listen to what I listen to today. I know the words to nearly every song in his discography and he's a huge inspiration to me.
What are your favorite lyrics of 5?
This is a tough call but.... these from Misery Fell off the Good and Evil album:
First thing they do is to substitute pleasure for pain/ Helping themselves figure out there's so much they can gain/ The bad guys surrender their chemistry books at the fair/ Oh well/ Then frolic and take in the love that persists everywhere
How many times have you seen 4 live?
NEVER, BUT I WANT IT. I WANT TO GO TO THERE. He's supposed to be playing a show at my local college soon. So, we'll see.

Killer Queen
Is there any song by 3 that makes you sad?
GAWD. Try the entirety of First Band on the Moon and Gran Turismo
but seriously. Ummmm okay. It's a tie between Step on Me and Great Divide. I will weep openly at those songs.
What is your favorite song by 9?
American Princes closely followed by Sexy Terrorist
When did you first get into 2?
I'm actually quite embarrassed by how late to the game I am on The Mountain Goats. Especially considering that now they're one of my favorite bands. However, it all started with a little book called Paper Towns by John Green. I knew that John loved The Mountain Goats, but I used to really hate when people started liking things just because someone they admired liked those same things. I still kind of think it's dishonest if you literally only do something because a celebrity does it and not because you love it. So, anyway, I resisted listening to them. Then came the University of Houston. I had no life, spent the majority of my time there inside my dorm room, and as a result became obsessive, overweight, and morose. So I was heavily dissecting and analyzing Paper Towns at the time, (I actually wrote a paper on the visual rhetoric employed in the dual covers of Paper Towns. I got an A+ thank you very much.) and I felt inclined to understand every facet of Quentin's state of mind. So, I pulled up Grooveshark, listened to a couple songs, and I immediately understood John's obsession. They are flawless.
How did you get into 6?
Again, through riding in my car with my sister. When the time came that I knew pretty much every word to Bottoms of Barrels I started listening to them on my own and fell in love. They were actually my first concert which my sister took me to. Good times man. There were psychedelic lights moving every where and a bunch of people were drunk. The very last song they played was Night of the Living Dead, and at the end of it everyone in the crowd just jumped up and down and screamed "I WANT TO FUCK IT UP!" (which are lyrics in the song, I promise) with the band. It was epic.
What is your favorite song by 4?
Either Heartbeat or You See Me... or L.E.S.... Probably L.E.S.
How many times have you seen 9 live?
TWICE, and they were INCREDIBLE both times. The first time was actually a school night toward the end of my senior year, and you have to understand that I have rarely done a rebellious thing in my life because my parents are so chill and supportive and right about most things, but that night... well... None of my friends could go with me and I DESPERATELY wanted to see them, but the concert was in Deep Ellum in Dallas which can be pretty rough at night. I literally said to my mom "Listen, I'm almost 18 (17 is pretty much legal in Texas anyway), I wanna see this band, I'm not doing anything of importance in school tomorrow, and if you tell me I can't go I'm just gonna sneak out and go anyway. So, I'd rather have your permission." And that was that. I drove to Dallas for the first time ever at 8:00 at night, sat alone in a packed coffee shop, met some awesome people, and got my face melted off by DPC. They are too good live. Even better than recorded.
What is a good memory concerning 10?
Driving around in Hazelhallow's car, with the top down, blasting Make Me Wanna Die and screaming the lyrics at the top of our lungs.
Is there a song by 8 that makes you sad?
Lovin' Touchin' Squeezin' mostly because I just imagine a couple from the 50's slowdancing in some like tacky dance hall and that kind of shit makes me weep. (and yes I realize the song was released in 1979. Don't ask me why the couple is from the 50's. They just are.)
What is your favorite song of 1?
first of all, what the hell kind of question is that?
second of all, Mess, Landed, and Silver Street
runner up is The Last Polka
