thrawn already knows his background due to his involvement in the empire obviously, as well as because they’ve just spent months together in wild space. when they arrive, ezra (and thrawn to a lesser extent) have to be HELLA vaccinated to even consider joining chiss society again lol

when eli is teaching him cheunh reading, writing, and speaking, he realizes that ezra’s experience with the former two are severely lacking. he gets the story out of thrawn soon enough, and changes his teaching style to reflect that.

(by the time ezra goes back to Lesser Space, he knows cheunh script better than he ever knew basic, and he has a semi-permanent cheunh accent that shows up a lot in his words. basic also doesn’t come as easy too him at first, but with his family’s help he’ll become just as fluent in basic reading and writing as well. life is a learning process :) )

the sky-walkers definitely know, because he ends up joining a lot of their school lessons. at first he just wanted to hang out with the other force sensitives on the ship, but he soon realized that the lessons with a group ALSO learning was really helpful. they do study groups sometimes too :)

aralani is probably one of the last to learn, much to her chagrin. when ezra was on the bridge doing a navigator shift, she asked him to translate something in basic, only for him to go “??? i don’t read that well???”

she immediately found and kicked thrawns ass

i’m so glad you like it!!! i originally just threw him in a CEDF uniform and called it a day, but i slowly kind of jedi-fied it until we got to where it is today! i didn’t want him to loose sight of his purpose and why he decided to go with thrawn in the first place.

in my lil fic universe ahsoka and sabine have not appeared yet! i’d want whatever little conflict that goes on in the chaos and the grysks to wrap up before Ezra goes home—i kind of touch on that in my fic Fuzzy Blue Light. :)

i subscribe to the “let thrawn and ezra be bastards to each other” philosophy, only because thrawn canonically loves to teach and is good with kids yet also despises the “jedi devilry” and chaos that late-teen-early-adult ezra bridger brings to the table. its absolutely HILARIOUS to me and i live off of that kind of character dynamic

they definitely do at some point hehe 😉

at first eli is a bit hesitant because 1) he was imperial once upon a time and ezra is the rebel-jedi-terrorists that the empire really Does Not Like BUT he trusts thrawns judgement and actually helps with ezra’s onboarding into the CEDF, like teaching him cheunh and other ~school things~ that ezra did not get to learn after being on the streets and then part of a rebel cell. 2) ezra is p chill with eli from the start because thrawn has told ezra about him and he respects anyone who can do magic with numbers 3) when ezra starts to integrate into the Sky-walker corps, they do a lot of collab cause eli is also really close to some of the ships sky-walkers :)

goddddd yeah 😭😭😭 i’m actually so glad lesser evil went the way it did—tbh i always knew that thrawn was capable of the things he did in rebels but i also was at a point where i wanted all my faves to be unproblematic which is COMPLETELY unrealistic ASDFGHJKL

but lesser evil bridged that gap for me extremely well!!!! we love a tragic character that does things for the greater good and chooses the lesser evils in impossible circumstances 💙 that just means more things for me to write about 😈

ahh yessir! i went today and they did a rapid-test for covid just in case and it came out negative, but i’m also waiting for a regular test too. i also have an appointment in the morning since walk-ins we’re all taken for the day, so hopefully i’ll have some more answers tomorrow 💚

contrary to what you might think, it actually took quite a while for the first decking to happen! chiss in the CEDF have been trained in the art of patience, and if you’re stationed on the long, grueling days of the steadfast in dark mode, you learn patience very fast.

while Eli was seen as a funny little alien man in a chiss uniform in most cases, his work with the imperials during their time working with thrawn earned him quite a bit of respect. ronan, on the other hand, was looked at with barely concealed contempt. eli was in charge of teaching him cheunh, and had to listen to him complain and complain and COMPLAIN.

when eli brought up ronan’s behavior with aralani, she told him that he should deal with him the proper chiss way.

so one day on the training mats, eli had enough of Ronan’s attitude. in the middle of a long-winded rant about how the chiss defense force was inferior to the imperial navy in every way down to their commander, eli took his chance and absolutely decked him in the middle of the training mat in front of all of their colleagues.

while ronan caught his breath, Eli told him that imperial rules didn’t apply here, and that he’d better watch his mouth unless he wanted Aralani or some other chiss doing the same thing to him.

from then on out, ronan watched his mouth and his back, and actually became a reluctant but productive member of the Steadfast’s crew. :)

so whenever the springhawk and the vigilant are docked at csilla at the same time AND samakro and wutroow want to treat themselves, they either do one of two activities:

no matter what they do they always feel refreshed by the time they go back on duty. :)

honestly?? lesser evil knocked it out of the park for me. it was an amazing conclusion to a series of books that hold a dear, dear place in my heart, so i think that’s my answer.

i will say that alliances is my least favorite, mostly because anakin/vader and padme were never characters that interested me 😅 but i still enjoy the occasional reread!

honestly ezra is a character that i have lots of thoughts about. i’ve worked with children in unideal situations/poverty before, and he reminds me a lot of them—lashing out/distrustful of others, and usually just needing someone to listen, understand, and provide him support. meeting the ghost crew was probably the best thing that could have happened in his circumstances, even when the environment wasn’t absolutely perfect.

we also deal with very low levels of literacy where i live and it is a real and very serious problem—it’s very upsetting to know that kids in certain areas either go to school and learn in horrible conditions or have problems like dyslexia that can’t be supplemented because the teachers either don’t care or CANT care.

it’s something very close to my heart, and why i like the thrawn (or anyone really) teaching ezra trope. a teacher that can identify the strengths and weaknesses of a student and plays on those strengths are the best of the best, and can change a student’s life.

anyways this got super long but i love ezra bridger and am happy he has his immunizations now LMAO 🤣
