#my favorite ships are like this#mythologically - this is odin and loki and their whole relationship and arc#in norse mythology the narrative is known to be doomed but odin fights against it with all he has (futilely?)#myth odin and loki has been a doomed 'ship' for millennia that swerves between (toxic) old man yaoi and toxic yuri#had me v sad over a children's book where it was the main narrative ;;#it was supposed to be a collection of myths told for kids but it showed (with illustration!) odin and loki meeting down til ragnarok#its so damn doomed#ragnarok: the doom of the gods#and shit is in motion as soon as odin meets loki#as taken as they are with each other it just cannot be#blowing up and taking the realms with it#so many “if onlies” but there is not another way (odin still resists yet still fills his role)#they are canonically a tragedy
