liking someone platonically is so embarrassing like. yeah i admire you. yeah i think about you all the time. yeah i look forward to every time i see you even if it's only for a minute. yeah it's all platonic and yeah i couldn't explain this because it'd sound romantic. fucking hell
It'd be so funny to me if Josie from "The Boost Job" grew up and decided to stay on the "right" side of the law
She'd think her old friends on the Leverage team would be super proud of her new role at Interpol, but instead they're like, "Ugh, you work for STERLING? He's the fucking worst."
OOH interesting!! josie as an expert on something like hacking or security, who was originally just freelance checking security systems but got picked up by interpol because she’s extremely good at it. parker would be so torn - she got josie out of a toxic environment & helped give her a chance to experience being "around the right people" who care about her, which parker had similarly just found in the leverage team… BUT she apparently failed to teach josie that Crime Is Fun?? mission failure.
i think parker would have to plan super cool, high-tech, elaborate heists in an attempt to show josie that the thief life is more fun than interpol. except josie, in having to solve the cases/chase after parker, would just think that solving the crime is fun. this could be some ongoing saga that parker’s been up to in her spare time, but comes to a head when they have to fight sterling AND josie AND astrid. sterling’s just kinda like "what do you keep doing to these young impressionable kids that you incidentally turn them to my side?" lol. at first josie’s connection to the team would’ve made him a little paranoid - astrid had a reason to dislike sophie, sure, but josie’s experience was very positive, is she spying for them? - so hardison sends sterling a nice cordial letter to let him know that they don’t need an inside informant. trust him, they’ve got plenty of info on the goings-on at interpol as it is :). that message has sterling sweeping and re-sweeping for bugs for months.
i think it’d be fun if olivia (sterling’s daughter) has done the opposite, and chosen to become a criminal mastermind (certainly not an original thought of mine btw, i’ve seen this headcanon a lot and i like it). thought nate was a legend. maybe she’s even been heading up a leverage international team of her own! olivia, josie & astrid kinda think this is funny. sterling, parker & sophie do NOT.
If you live in the USA and you're pleading for donations to pay your rent, bills, or get food then dial 211! Please dial 211 before the last minute!
It's a toll free service with people who will help you find programs in your community to pay those bills, find food, and find housing! They will give you numbers to call so you can get help.
It is not 100% foolproof. Their job is to direct you to a program they believe will help your current issue, but it's still a step up from praying random strangers online will give you enough cash before a deadline! The added benefit of these community programs, which get funded by the local government most of the time, is if there are more people using them then they can get more money to help more people.
You're not taking resources from other people if you use your community services. Your taxes pay for them. Use them.
Dial 211 first to see if they can help, and if for some reason they can't, then make your donation posts!

Hi I work for my state's 211 service. It really breaks my heart how many people only know to call us at the last minute. 211's can provide a whole wealth of resources to use before things ever get to a cut off utility, eviction, or homelessness!
I can't speak for all 211's but most should also have a website detailing all the agencies in their database. if you don't like phone calls, this can be something to reference instead.
If you don't have health insurance but you need to see a doctor, reference 211! We list clinics that provide free or discounted general care, vision, and dental services to low income households and people without insurance! Many hospitals also have financial aid policies that can severely reduce your bill if you had an expensive procedure!
If you're stuck in a dead end job or need educational resources reference 211! There are a lot of programs focused on providing basic adult education as well as trade skills or other high demand fields! State governments are generally more interested in funneling people into work than providing benefits, but you can still use this to your advantage especially if you have some form of disability but are still able to work. That includes if you're neurodiverse or have mental health issues! Most of these programs are extremely underutilized.
If you believe you qualify for public benefits but the bureaucracy of the process is in your way, reference 211! There are agencies specifically geared towards helping people obtain the benefits they qualify for- for free!
If you need help with your taxes-
If you need help finding a pro bono lawyer-
If you need help finding affordable housing/section 8 housing-
If you need help finding food pantries-
If you need help paying for your prescriptions-
If you need help obtaining disability aids or assistive technology-
If you need help finding transportation options-
If you need help following a natural or personal disaster (like a home fire)-
If you need help repairing a home you or your family owns or it needs modifications to be accessible-
If you need Queer resources-
Reference your 211!!!!!
I had no idea what 211 was before working for it but I wish I had. I've learned so much about what resources are actually available to the community even in a ho hum area of the country like my state. I've saved my partner literally thousands of dollars just from the medical resources I've gathered.
Not enough young people know about or utilize these services but they are there for you!
P. S.
This isn't an intended use of 211, but I like to reference the agency listings when I look for jobs. Many of the agencies listed are non-profits which, while they certainly are not perfect, generally have lower barriers of entry to decent paying jobs with benefits. The work environments tend to be much kinder and at least pretend to be forward thinking. You're more likely to find jobs without as many people applying as well, especially if they're only advertising their positions through their own website.
watching jim street drive in s1 swat.
watching parker drive any time in leverage.
everyone in the car grabbing for the oh shit handles.
finding out they both grew up in foster homes.
my brain, immediately: what if!!
Christian Kane as Eliot Spencer in LEVERAGE (2008–2012)
You show up for your first day at Copyright-Free Magic School. As you're going through orientation, you're informed that all new students get a school-assigned familiar that they are responsible for housing and maintaining. The staff member assures you that your assigned familiar is appropriately chosen and reflects you in some way.
Spin this to find out yours. (Remember, you are responsible for maintaining this familiar in your dorm room.)
I still can't believe that Tommy "Karate" Pitera, the mafia boss who was also a karate champion and who killed people by doing karate on them, was a real person. That's not a combination of traits a real guy has. That is a Metal Gear character. That is Chuck Norris playing the heel in a Bruce Lee movie. But no, there was a time not that long ago when people on the mean streets of Brooklyn might whisper "Hey, watch out for Tommy Karate, he'll kill you with his bare hands" with the gravest seriousness.
Was he the one who was also basically a serial killer and grossed the other mafia guys out because of how much he seemed to enjoy dismembering people
This sent me on a wiki crawl, and I cannot believe some of this. I assumed "Tommy Karate, gangster from Brooklyn" would have been some kind of self-aggrandisement but no, he kicked so much arse at a New York dojo as a youth that he won a scholarship to live in Tokyo studying at a famous historical dojo, where he lived for over 2 years, perfecting the art of beating people to death with his bare hands. He apparently was legitimately just that good at Karate. And I say was, but he's still alive! He was only arrested in 1990! Within my lifetime this lunatic was killing people with Karate in New York City and dumping their dismembered corpses in Staten Island!
Oh my apologies to mass murderer Tommy "Karate" Pitera, who despite the nickname actually studied Togakure-Ryu Ninjutsu in Tokyo. We wouldn't want to be inaccurate with regards to the ninja gangster, now would we.

another favorite thing about leverage: how they all teach each other their skills. like, they each have their unique specialties that make them valuable to the team as a whole, and plenty of criminals (and the people they were pre-series) would guard their skillset carefully, keep it to themself, to keep themselves valuable on the team. makes total sense!
except they don't do that. Eliot teaches Sophie how to punch, Sophie teacher Parker to grift, Parker teaches Hardison how to lift, they're all constantly cross-training each other on their skills. and that's because that's how they function better as a team, as a cohesive unit, and they all know that and are working on getting better and being their best together.
The thing I love most about Leverage is that each 40 minute episode would be a 2 hour movie with any other set of characters. The plot twist of ‘something goes wrong’ in other heist films is instead a pivotal part of the plan that was already considered and accounted for. In Leverage Redemption those moments feel more like a ‘yes and’ moment in an improve skit.
