holy shit a huge mob of people in amsterdam just attacked a bunch of fans of an israeli soccer team as they were leaving the stadium

there are videos of a group of people yelling "fuck you palestine," as well as of people wearing a keffiyeh and saying "free palestine" beating someone up. cnn has not been able to verify any videos as of yet

so far it looks like 10 israeli citizens were injured, and about 30 people have been arrested so far. jerusalem post adds that 1 person was kidnapped and at least 2 remain missing

the state of israel is sending two rescue planes to amsterdam to help israeli citizens return. israeli citizens have been advised to stay inside their hotel rooms, and the israeli and dutch governments are coordinating to safely transport israelis from their hotels to the airport so they can leave. us officials have already compared it to a pogrom

this occurred two days before the anniversary of kristallnacht

this is a very fresh story, keep your eyes on the news and don't spread something unless it's backed up by trustworthy news sources. there is a LOT of islamophobia, racism, xenophobia, and antisemitism going around about this right now (including in some of the below sources). none of that will be tolerated on this post

i am also linking the youtube videos below. they're distressing, please watch with caution. i'm mostly linking them so y'all know i wasn't pulling the bit about the videos out of my ass

always thought it was sort of nuts that people joke about having had a “nazi phase” . hey what do you mean you had a nazi phase. where’s the nearest fire safety exit btw

of course it’s commendable that some people do take the unlearning process seriously and strive to course correct the rest of their lives without hiding behind shame. but i mean specifically the people who are very flippant about being former neo nazis. i am backing away very quickly thanks

Read this. Yes, it’s long. READ IT. More to the point, share this. Particularly with any undecided voters you may know. Talk with them about it.

From Dr. Richardson.

“I stand corrected. I thought this year’s October surprise was the reality that Trump’s mental state had slipped so badly he could not campaign in any coherent way.

It turns out that the 2024 October surprise was the Trump campaign’s fascist rally at Madison Square Garden, a rally so extreme that Republicans running for office have been denouncing it all over social media tonight.

There was never any question that this rally was going to be anything but an attempt to inflame Trump’s base. The plan for a rally at Madison Square Garden itself deliberately evoked its predecessor: a Nazi rally at the old Madison Square Garden on February 20, 1939. About 18,000 people showed up for that “true Americanism” event, held on a stage that featured a huge portrait of George Washington in his Continental Army uniform flanked by swastikas.

Like that earlier event, Trump’s rally was supposed to demonstrate power and inspire his base to violence.

Apparently in anticipation of the rally, Trump on Friday night replaced his signature blue suit and red tie with the black and gold of the neofascist Proud Boys. That extremist group was central to the January 6, 2021, attack on the U.S. Capitol and has been rebuilding to support Trump again in 2024.

On Saturday the Trump campaign released a list of 29 people set to be on the stage at the rally. Notably, the list was all MAGA Republicans, including vice presidential nominee Ohio senator J.D. Vance, House speaker Mike Johnson (LA), Representative Elise Stefanik (NY), Representative Byron Donalds (FL), Trump backer Elon Musk, Trump ally Rudy Giuliani, Robert F. Kennedy Jr., right-wing host Tucker Carlson, Trump sons Don Jr. and Eric, and Eric’s wife, Republican National Committee co-chair Lara Trump.

Libbey Dean of NewsNation noted that none of the seven Republicans running in New York’s competitive House races were on the list. When asked why not, according to Dean, Trump senior advisor Jason Miller said: “The demand, the request for people to speak, is quite extensive.” Asked if the campaign had turned down anyone who asked to speak, Miller said no.

Meanwhile, the decision of the owners of the Los Angeles Times and the Washington Post not to endorse Democratic presidential candidate Vice President Kamala Harris seems to have sparked a backlash. As Will Bunch of the Philadelphia Inquirer noted, “in a strange way the papers did perform a public service: showing American voters what life under a dictator would feel like.”

Early on October 26, the Washington Post itself went after Trump backer billionaire Elon Musk with a major story highlighting the information that Musk, an immigrant from South Africa, had worked illegally when he started his career in the U.S. Musk “did not have the legal right to work” in the U.S. when he started his first successful company. As part of the Trump campaign, Musk has emphasized his opposition to undocumented immigrants.

The New York Times has tended to downplay Trump’s outrageous statements, but on Saturday it ran a round-up of Trump’s threats in the center of the front page, above the fold. It noted that Trump has vowed to expand presidential power, prosecute his political opponents, and crack down on immigration with mass deportations and detention camps. It went on to list his determination to undermine the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO), use the U.S. military against Mexican drug cartels “in potential violation of international law,” and use federal troops against U.S. citizens. It added that he plans to “upend trade” with sweeping new tariffs that will raise consumer prices, and to rein in regulatory agencies.

“To help achieve these and other goals,” the paper concluded, “his advisers are vetting lawyers seen as more likely to embrace aggressive legal theories about the scope of his power.”

On Sunday the front page of the New York Times opinion section read, in giant capital letters: “DONALD TRUMP/ SAYS HE WILL PROSECUTE HIS ENEMIES/ ORDER MASS DEPORTATIONS/ USE SOLDIERS AGAINST CITIZENS/ ABANDON ALLIES/ PLAY POLITICS WITH DISASTERS/ BELIEVE HIM.” And then, inside the section, the paper provided the receipts: Trump’s own words outlining his fascist plans. “BELIEVE HIM,” the paper said.

On CNN’s State of the Union this morning, host Jake Tapper refused to permit Trump’s running mate, Ohio senator J.D. Vance, to gaslight viewers. Vance angrily denied that Trump has repeatedly called for using the U.S. military against Americans, but Tapper came with receipts that proved the very things Vance denied.

Trump’s rally at Madison Square Garden began in the early afternoon. The hateful performances of the early participants set the tone for the rally. Early on, comedian Tony Hinchcliffe, who goes by Kill Tony, delivered a steamingly racist set. He said, for example: “There’s literally a floating island of garbage in the middle of the ocean right now. I think it’s called Puerto Rico.” He went on: “And these Latinos, they love making babies too. Just know that. They do. They do. There’s no pulling out. They don’t do that. They come inside. Just like they did to our country.” Hinchcliffe also talked about Black people carving watermelons instead of pumpkins.

The speakers who followed Hinchcliffe called Vice President Kamala Harris “the Antichrist” and “the devil.” They called former secretary of state Hillary Clinton “a sick son of a b*tch,” and they railed against “f*cking illegals.” They insulted Latinos generally, Black Americans, Palestinians and Jews. Trump advisor Stephen Miller’s claim that “America is for Americans and Americans only” directly echoed the statement of Adolf Hitler that "Germany is for Germans and Germans only.”

Trump took the stage about two hours late, prompting people to stream toward the exits before he finished speaking. He hit his usual highlights, notably undermining Vance’s argument from earlier in the day by saying that, indeed, he believes fellow Americans are “the enemy within.”

But Trump perhaps gave away the game with his inflammatory language and with an aside, seemingly aimed at House speaker Johnson. “I think with our little secret we are gonna do really well with the House, right? Our little secret is having a big impact, he and I have a secret, we will tell you what it is when the race is over,” Trump said.

It seems possible—probable, even—that Trump was alluding to putting in play the plan his people tried in 2020. That plan was to create enough chaos over the certification of electoral votes in the states to throw the election into the House of Representatives. There, each state delegation gets a single vote, so if the Republicans have control of more states than the Democrats, Trump could pull out a victory even if he had dramatically lost the popular vote.

Since he has made virtually no effort to win votes in 2024, this seems his likely plan.

But to do that, he needs at least a plausibly close election, or at least to convince his supporters that the election has been stolen from him. Tonight’s rally badly hurt that plan.

As Hinchcliffe was talking about Puerto Rico as a floating island of garbage, Democratic presidential nominee Vice President Kamala Harris was at a Puerto Rican restaurant in Philadelphia talking about her plan to spread her opportunity economy to Puerto Rico. She has called for strengthening Puerto Rico’s energy grid and making it easier to get permits to build there.

After the “floating island of garbage” comment, Puerto Rican superstar musician Bad Bunny, who has more than 45 million followers on Instagram, posted Harris’s plan for Puerto Rico, and his spokesperson said he is endorsing Harris.

Puerto Rican singer and actor Ricky Martin shared a clip from Hinchcliffe’s set with his 16 million followers. His caption read: “This is what they think of us.” Singer and actress Jennifer Lopez, who has 250 million Instagram followers, posted Harris’s plan. Later, singer-songwriter and actress Ariana Grande posted that she had voted for Harris. Grande has 376 million followers on Instagram. Singer Luis Fonsi, who has 16 million followers, also called out the “constant hate.”

The headlines were brutal. “MAGA speakers unleash ugly rhetoric at Trump's MSG rally,” read Axios. Politico wrote: “Trump’s New York homecoming sparks backlash over racist and vulgar remarks.” “Racist Remarks and Insults Mark Trump’s Madison Square Garden Rally,” the New York Times announced. “Speakers at Trump rally make racist comments, hurl insults,” read CNN.

But the biggest sign of the damage the rally did was the frantic backpedaling from Republicans in tight elections, who distanced themselves as fast as they could from the insults against Puerto Ricans, especially. The Trump campaign itself tried to distance itself from the “floating island of garbage” quotation, only to be met with comments pointing out that Hinchcliffe’s set had been vetted and uploaded to the teleprompters.

As the clips spread like wildfire, political writer Charlotte Clymer pointed out that almost 6 million Puerto Ricans live in the states—about a million in Florida, half a million in Pennsylvania, 100,000 in Georgia, 100,000 in Michigan, 100,000 in North Carolina, 45,000 in Arizona, and 40,000 in Nevada—and that over half of them voted in 2020.

In 1939, as about 18,000 American Nazis rallied inside Madison Square Garden, newspapers reported that a crowd of about 100,000 anti-Nazis gathered outside to protest. It took 1,700 police officers, the largest number of officers ever before detailed for a single event, to hold them back from storming the venue.”

a year ago, i was celebrating simchat torah when my rabbi interrupted the services to let us know there had been an attack on israel. we didn’t know how bad yet, but we prayed everything would be alright. the rest of the service went on as planned, but there was a chill in the air, like we knew something had changed. something big. but we didn’t quite understand it yet.

a year ago, i watched people i’d followed for years celebrate a gruesome massacre of over a thousand human beings before we even really knew what had happened. i watched anons pour into my inbox, demanding i condemn israel even though israel hadn’t even retaliated yet.

a year ago, i talked to my nonna on facetime for her birthday. she was in her 90s and wasn’t as present anymore, and i could barely focus because my thoughts were thousands of miles away. i promised her i’d call her the next day but my next day became scrolling past horrific photos and videos i didn’t want to see, posts celebrating the attacks, posts telling people that if they didn’t celebrate the attacks that they were bad people. she died two weeks later and the same people sharing the posts celebrating the massacre sent me messages telling me it was good my nonna was dead, or extremely crude and disgusting messages about what they wanted to do to her dead body because she was “probably a zionist.”

a year ago, i worked at a synagogue that started getting dozens of calls and emails from people, across the spectrum from neo nazis to evangelical christians to radical leftists saying the most horrific things, telling us it was our fault, that we had to do something, that it was on us. we were responsible. an anon told me i was a zionist because i had a zionist language on my blog (hebrew) and worked at a zionist institution (synagogue).

a year ago, i started losing friends one by one after many of them started to share posts justifying or celebrating the massacre or memes created by neo nazis, some of which didn’t even bother to sub out “jews” for “zionists” but they shared them anyway. i was pushed out of an activist group after months of begging them to stop using antisemitic language because i had the audacity to tell a white gentile in the group not to say racist things about a black indigenous jew behind her back, and said gentile told me he didn’t have to listen to me and that he could “claim” the holocaust too because his ancestors were from eastern europe.

a year ago, i watched in real time as the world i thought i knew, the world in which jews had a future and safety in the united states, crumbled day after day. people that previously went out of their way to take care of me and support me decided that because i didn’t feel comfortable marching alongside pictures of hitler i must be a zionist and therefore no longer belonged. the person processing my government aid didn’t want to approve me because i worked for a synagogue part time and argued that the synagogue should just pay me more because “they can afford it.” my synagogue, which has been involved in social justice since its founding several decades ago, along with its rabbis who have been just as involved, were abandoned by the communities they had put their blood, sweat, and tears into advocating for when they had the audacity to grieve for the dead of october 7th.

a year ago, i learned the hard way that we are not special in this time. antisemitism is a river that has ebbed and flowed for thousands of years, and i felt like a fool for thinking a dam could be built overnight.

a lot of people say that every day of this year for them has been october 7th, but for me every day has been october 8th. the day after the initial shock, when reality started to sink in. the realization that all the people who had shared “happy rosh hashanah” posts or complimented my kippah or pretended to care about harry potter goblins were quickly dropping the facade. that my token minority card had expired and now having a jew in their group didn’t look diverse, it looked “sympathetic toward israel.” every day has been a painful reminder that no one else is grieving like we are, and a large number of those people are angry that we are grieving. they don’t understand that we’re not just grieving the lives lost and the hostages. we’re grieving for the world we thought we knew, a world where we might have a chance to thrive like we did in the golden age of spain. but those golden years are ending. and that is one of the things we are grieving.

a lot of people also say that they wish they could go back to who they were on october 6th, but i don’t. i’m glad the illusion was shattered, that i can see more clearly who will stand with jews even if they face backlash, who will challenge their antisemitic biases and do the hard work to unlearn them, and who did not have to be asked twice to share literal nazi rhetoric if it meant feeling like a hero. i’m glad the masks are coming off because it means you can’t gaslight us anymore and tell us it’s all in our heads. we can see you for exactly who you are now. and we will not let you break us.

i don’t want to be living forever in october. i don’t want the blissful ignorance of october 6th, but i also don’t want the bitter anger of october 8th. i want to stand up for what i believe in, to celebrate my culture and my people, and no amount of intimidation or harassment will keep me from loving my jewishness. you have shown me i can no longer live in october 6th, but i refuse to let you keep me in october 8th.

Okay.... this is anti-semitic. It's very clearly anti-semitic imagery, Jews with their hands around the entire planet, and the fucking SS lightning bolts are Not subtle. I'm all in on criticizing Israel but this is straight up Nazi symbolism. What the fuck guys. Fuck the state of Israel and also let's not reblog Nazi propoganda?????? What the fuck. What the actual fuck.

Oh baby you think this is bad? Check out this clowns other work

"(((They"))) need workers to fuel the economy

Ah yes. Classic "Jews hypnotized the world" shtick

This one above is the most blatant one so far. (((They))) are immensely powerful and want to dominate the world. Notice the glasses too. One of the classic antisemitic tropes is that Jews are "blind to the truth" and are often depicted wearing glasses in antisemitic media.

Now let's review the last one I can stomach for today.

CURB STOMPING IS A CLASSIC NAZI ATTACK

Don't believe me?

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Curb_stomp

Check out the "notable incidents"

Funnily enough; a few months ago (real followers remember) a leftist antisemitic mutual whined about me pointing out antisemitism and then told me to "bite the curb zio"

"Zio" is also a term used by nazis and coined by David Duke himself. Surprised they didn't use it here.

@thererisesaredstar you are promoting fucking nazi imagery and ideology. I know you know this. I know you'll block me and probably add me to a list over this. Nevertheless I will not be silent. You should be fucking ashamed.

y'all we HAVE to be vigilant about this stuff

i straight up dont interact with stuff that is using "zionist" as a noun and a pejorative

tired of people acting like it's "not important" to make sure you're not spreading nazi shit

This racism against Haitians is really getting to me. I'm not even sure how to refer to it because I don't even want to say "eating pets thing" because they're not doing that! It's a completely made up racist hoax that the Republican candidates for president and vice-president are all in on.

There's a town in Ohio with a lot of Haitian immigrants and the right made up a completely fake, racist story about Haitian immigrants stealing and eating pets. To be clear, this did not happen. It's completely made up. A lot of people who aren't on twitter (or maybe some corners of facebook) didn't know about it because it's basically a right wing racist social media hoax, but JD Vance was all in on it tweeting about it and he's a sitting senator who's running for vice-president and then last night Trump mentioned it during the debate. It's had some more mainstream news coverage now because of that and things like the police in Ohio saying "yeah that's not happening."

even worse, it was unsurprisingly started by a literal neo-nazi:

some other debunks (per snopes)

the photo going around of a black guy carrying a goose by the neck (which like first of all hats off to anyone who can capture a canada goose by grabbing it by the neck those things are nasty) was apparently taken in columbus ohio (not springfield ohio where this whole faux controversy is supposedly set) and the guy in it likely wasn’t even haitian. the video of a woman being arrested for animal cruelty and confessing to eating a cat was not taken in springfield and the woman in the video speaks with an american accent and is clearly not haitian.

the recent wave of haitian immigrants moving to springfield hasn’t resulted in any kind of crime spike. the “white boy murdered by a haitian immigrant on the way to school” story was a tragic case of vehicular manslaughter, and the boy’s parents disavowed anyone using his story as anti-immigrant propaganda.

while there has been a recent uptick in haitian immigration to the united states (and to be clear we should welcome them. the situation in haiti is dreadful) most haitian immigrants living in the united states have been here for 10+ years because they were given temporary protected status after the 2010 earthquake and then virtually nothing else was done for them (they should be offered a path to citizenship imo) many of them who originally settled in coastal cities are now moving to midwestern towns (such as springfield ohio) because that’s where the factory and warehouse jobs are and the cost of living is more affordable.

Just to reiterate:

Donald Trump got up on the debate stage last night and repeated the words of a neo-Nazi in an attempt to demonize immigrants and make them targets of racist violence.

And his VP agrees wholeheartedly and is saying the same thing!

The media has us all so inured to any given piece of awfulness Trump does bc he’s done so much horrible stuff for so long. But I need to emphasize how insane and terrible this is, and how fucking disqualifying it should be on a social level:

Donald Trump repeated the words of a neo-Nazi on national TV to millions of viewers.

He publicly closed the last impression of a gap between himself and neo-Nazism.

This is where we are at. It is insane to me that even a lot of progressive publications aren’t really getting much further than “this is very racist” (which it is).

I want to give a shoutout to The Forward for taking this as seriously as it should be. It’s not a huge surprise that a Jewish publication is clocking how deeply bad the conspiracy claims that The Outsiders are Doing Secretive Blood-Drinking Rituals, but I appreciate them saying it explicitly instead of just kind of stopping at, “Well this isn’t good!”.

Hey, just for the record vandalizing Synagogues/Jewish schools/Jewish community centers or boycotting Jewish businesses just because they’re Jewish not only doesn’t help Palestinians and isn’t activism, but rather looks an awful lot like nazi Germany. In other words, it’s just antisemitic.

Stop harassing Jewish people and go do something to actually help Palestinians. Donate (I’ve talked about ANERA, World Central Kitchen, and the Palestine Red Crescent Society before). Protest at government offices and pressure policy makers. Boycott war profiteers and defense contractors (Lockheed Martin and Boeing, for examples) or companies that have otherwise provided support to the Israeli government and/or military (see, for example, why Google and Amazon are on the BDS pressure targets list). Raise awareness and emphasize Palestinian humanity – and for the love of all things holy stop portraying Palestinian and Jewish safety as diametrically opposed.

Just highlighting some of my tags on the original post here, because they’re relevant:

#remember when russia first invaded ukraine and we had to remind people russians were not their government #or that it's wrong and racist to assume all chinese people (both in china or in diaspora) support the genocide of the Uyghurs?#or even just that all americans werent trump supporters? #yeah. same principle applies - israeli civilians are not their government

It's genuinely a little horrifying how quickly people on this site adopted Nazi/white supremacist language literally minutes after October 7th.

Like where did you learn these terms? Where did you learn to use "Zionist" like that? Where did you learn "ZOG"? When did you start talking about "Jewish media" and where did you learn it from?

Guys seriously. This shit isn't just antisemitism, it's Nazi-conspiracy hate for Jews. This is shit you find on 4chan or hear at a Neo-Nazi meeting. Who the fuck are you hanging out with that they were so fine with using this language?

You didn't say shit like this a year ago. Not a one of you. None of you were decrying the "evils of Zionism". None of you were talking about "Zionist Occupied Governments". None of you used any of this antisemitic language. Now? It's fucking everywhere.

So. Where did you hear it from?

Yeah... It's been really disturbing to me as well. I've been trying to call folks who I'm friendly with on it when I see it, but... Yeah.

I'm not Jewish, but unfortunately due to circles I used to run in, I've become pretty familiar with a lot of the dogwhistles. Since last year I've been seeing them *everywhere*, repeated and amplified by people who (I hope) are just naively repeating talking points.

I'm *horrified* with the atrocities committed in Gaza, but I'm *equally* horrified at the rising tides of antisemitism and hatred I'm seeing. A synagogue in my (supposedly liberal, multicultural, west coast) city was *firebombed* three months ago. I hear self proclaimed leftists who I considered my friends repeating things which wouldn't have sounded out of place between the pages of Der Stürmer.

It really scares me.

It really feels like a switch got flipped post-October 7th, and the only thing that helps me contextualize it is knowing that yeah, so much of this language is imported from 4chan types. There’s an unholy maelstrom of AI, inflammatory algorithms, lack of moderation, and anonymity at play in social media today. Combine this with the latent antisemitism that the majority of gentiles unconsciously harbor and the history of leftist antisemitism that no one bothered to examine and it makes some sense. Not enough sense to explain my former friends spewing this vitriol. The conspiratorial mindset I recognize here is working on a similar axis as my anti-vax Trump-voting relatives because that also got imported from 4chan.

These articles do a good job of explaining how we got here:

yeah cool you’re an american jew that doesn’t think antisemitism is a thing anymore. anyway did you know that david gerbi has been trying restore synagogues and cemeteries in libya to try to facilitate the return of libyan jews but non jewish libyans keep trying to lynch him every time he comes to libya.

so this absolute genius showed up to tell me why murdering and ethnically cleansing jews from a country is actually fine and “appropriate.”

i want y’all to guess what country this person is from.

Hi there! Jew of Polish descent here!

Many of my relatives were murdered in your country. My great great uncle, his wife, and his daughter were forced from their homes in Białystok and murdered in the Treblinka concentration camp. Right now, non-Jewish Poles are living comfortably inside his house and profiting from his business.

When Jews survived the war and tried to return home to Poland, you motherfuckers still murdered them even without the Germans egging you on. In cities like Kielce, Jews were murdered after the war for daring to want to come home.

Go fuck yourself

Seeing some absolutely asinine shit on Tumblr about how the UK riots are being controlled by Zionists, so let’s ask the organizers of the protests what they think about Jews:

Extremists attempting to organise attacks on immigration lawyers amid unrest sweeping the UK have also claimed that Jews “fabricated” the Holocaust and praised Adolf Hitler, the JC can reveal.
The thugs insisted they support “neither brown nor Jew” as they encouraged demonstrators to revolt against migrants on the encrypted messaging app Telegram. (source)
Despite openly pushing the racist “great replacement” conspiracy theory, Patriotic Alternative has made a concerted effort to attempt to whitewash its virulently racist, ethno-nationalist politics by pushing a community-minded public image. But that has been only a flimsy veneer: Collett, the party’s leader, is a neo-Nazi who has repeatedly recommended supporters read Adolf Hitler’s Mein Kampf, was previously in a relationship with a woman with a large swastika tattoo, and has links to the now-banned neo-Nazi terror organisation National Action, including having attended a combat training course with the group. (source)
Mark Collett, the leader of the fascist Patriotic Alternative, predictably chose to shift the blame for the wanton violence away from the rioters and onto a trifecta of targets: the government, police and the media. In his conspiratorial worldview, these three constitute an “anti-white establishment” that has colluded in such a way as to leave “white British” people with “no other way to be heard”. In the classic fascistic formulation, responses to Collett’s post from supporters indicated that they believed Jews were behind this supposed “anti-white establishment”. (source)

make no mistake, the main targets of these Nazis during these riots are Muslims and immigrants, but you’re absurdly antisemitic if you think these guys are being controlled by Jews and wouldn’t take the opportunity to firebomb a synagogue on their way to firebomb a mosque.

anyway, please make a donation to Hope Not Hate to help fund efforts to deradicalize the UK 💜

During the holocaust some estimates say that over 50% of the entire European population of Roma people were murdered.

They were also forced to be identified in camps with the brown upside down triangle

They were considered racially impure, much like the Jews. In many nations they were hunted by their fellow countrymen, who had an existing bias against them that was fuelled by war propaganda. The Einsatzgruppen (basically a moving, mobile killing squad) had Roma as a target. And, yes, there was a "Gypsy Question".

Their population was absolutely decimated. But worse.

August 2 is a date that some acknowledge this genocide. Some other dates....some not any dates at all. This date was chosen because of the huge killings on that night of those in the Zigeunerfamilienlager. Roma families were kept together in a camp in Auschwitz.

The Nazis decided to "clear" most of the camp that night, killing many children and elderly on purpose. There was a lot of fighting, they fought back with improvised weapons. Let no one ever say that they walked wearily to their deaths. They fought for themselves and their families with every ounce of strength they had.

Thousands were killed in gas chambers that night, the women, children, elderly and infirm. The rest were sent to work camps.

Germany only officially acknowledged this aspect of the holocaust in the early 80s. In the Former Czechoslovakia and Czech Republic Roma women were forced into sterilisation through a number of means, in the 70s, the 90s and into the 00's, with some reports that this is still ongoing.

The Roma are not a footnote in history. Their suffering was immeasurable, like so many others. In ways that some places will still not acknowledge or account for.

May the memories of those gone be a blessing, and the future of those that remain be a brighter and more hopeful one.

Palestinians deserve a movement that is actually in their corner, one motivated by the desire for peace, justice, and reconciliation, not the unhinged, radicalised circle jerk of utter ignoramuses who openly support terrorist regimes and spout rhetoric that would make the damn Nazis proud.

They don’t fucking care about the dignity and well being of Palestinian lives beyond their convenience as proxies to engage in the worst behaviour known to man and pat themselves on the back for it.
