2. launching the careers of several educational youtube channels through an explanation of how it works

i always loving seeing the "cooking youtube channel predicated on being bad at cooking slowly getting good at cooking just by doing it for years" pipeline

I have been told a few times that I have a relaxing voice, even an ASMR one, but not necessarily an intentionally relaxing tone and presentation. Many of my recent videos are closer to a sustained rant in terms of structure.

I'm rather annoyed. Apparently, ads are playing on my unlisted text hypnosis video 1/3rd and 2/3rds though. I contacted youtube support and they said they straight up could not do anything. I even asked them to flag the channel as inappropriate to make it unmonetizable but they just went "sorry, can't do that, gonna play ads anyways".

I'm trying to use my connections to talk to someone higher up, but its crazy to me that I even need to do this when peoples channels get entirely unmonetized for far less.

I'm no mega-viral one or one constantly discussed on tumblr or other youtube-centric communities, however, I do have an amount higher than 250,000 subscribers and I am a video essayist. I am also open about being a hypnotist now on some my extaneous social medias.

The clues are vague because I want it possible to find me but difficult to do so. Several people have found me already, and they tend to be cool. Make it too easy and some uncool people find me. C'est la vie.

Oh, I don't have one yet. I have a youtube channel that is my job unrelated to this account, and this one where I do text hypnosis. When I eventually do make those text hypnosis videos, I'll post the link here, but as of now it's just this.

If you want your brain ruined a bit, so many youtubers use this exact arrow png (because it's one of the first results you see when you look up "arrow png"). From now on after seeing this post, you will start to see this everywhere. You will never escape it.

A really annoying part of ADHD is not just that I struggle with doing stuff, but that I seem to entirely forget all the processes and tricks I learned to be more efficient if I don't do something for a few weeks. Like, every time I make a video, I forget that I should have a live notes section while writing so that I don't just stare blankly at the screen and have a direction and that while editing I should break it up between something rewarding so I don't just sit at the PC dreading editing so hard that I can't continue at all.

Productivity is so hard to maintain because I literally forget the things I need to remember that let me do it easier.

I both don't make or watch video essays over an hour long. Well, I watch very few I guess, but dear lord do I not make those. Not to be rude, but I want my videos to be more than 2nd monitor content.

This tumblr blog has completely superceded my impulse to check youtube analytics. Every time I check my notifications there's a dumb Good little Puppy barking at me, on youtube I get people who did not listen to my videos closely saying I should have mentioned something that I already did.

starting this tumblr is reminding me of when my channel was much smaller and id see regular commenters. it meant so much every time i saw them comment, and i still remember and recognize every time they leave something on a new video.

its just that on Tumblr their names are things like dragondick2 and sluttboy

A tip if you're unsure if you should trust if a video essayist is good.

I'm a relatively large video essayist (you'll just have to trust me here) and if there is one single thing that is the biggest (though absolutely not perfect) indicator that a video essayist is either incompetent or malicious: overpolished editing.

Video essays, in comparison to a lot of other youtube video genres, is focused far more on what is being said than what is being shown. The actual video substance is the ideas being presented, and while plenty of people with simplistic editing are very bad at making essays, people with overly complicated and flashy graphics are placing as much if not more weight on the video instead of the essay.

I think the closest medium to compare it to is music videos. Most times, the music is made first, and then a video for it is crafted in a process separated from the song (or at least not compromising the song in order to make it). When the video is the most appealing part of a music video, that person's art form isn't really music. Their art form is music videos.

When the auxiliary aspect of an art medium is given too much weight, it is often a way to compensate for something. There are obviously exceptions, but the exceptions (like hbomberguy, Philosophy Tube, etc) take months and months to release new material, because while a lot of effort is put into editing and presentation, everything else has far more effort put into it in comparison. That aspect of the medium is risen up by consequence of everything else rising. They also actually have good artistic taste and attention to detail instead of just putting a vignette while tilting and zooming in on text but y'know whatever

Oh also from personal experience, nearly every single youtube drama video essayist talks like a tech bro entrepreneur and the second coming of Jeff Bezos. Never meet youtubers, 90% of them suck.
