me guessing keywords to randomly wake up sleeper agents
I accidentally revealed a little experiment I was doing to my subject, today, so I finally get to tell you all about it.
I honestly didn't think that covert hypnotic triggers were a thing due to the constant annoying mysticism and years of bad science around hypnosis, as well as stuff like subliminals having absolutely zero actual effects. However, with some testing, I have been delightfully surprised.
To be clear, by a covert trigger, I do not mean a trigger that was given under trance explicitly then had the subject forget or be unaware of when used. I mean a trigger that is installed, reinforced, and used entirely without the subject noticing. It'd be more accurate to call this a preconscious trigger, but the linguistic gods disagree, I suppose.
I decided to use my favorite subject, and someone I'm close with in many ways. I've already trained general obedience into her over time, but have always allowed her to be rebellious because it's fun for the both of us. However...
There's a phrase I liked to use on occasion during trance and outside of it when I'm being a little gently degrading: the phrase, "Isn't that right?" at the end of sentences. Leading questions are natural for gentle domination, and I had already been doing it, so I decided to use it a little bit more often, and with intention.
For about two weeks straight, while under trance and while training general obedience or otherwise while messing with them, I would go, "Isn't that right?" exclusively for questions that were an absolute yes. There's no reason she wouldn't say yes to it, and so, she did, every single time.
The next week or two, I would start peppering in the phrase for slight disagreements. That's to say, things that were a yes, but something that she'd make a small fuss about normally to be rebellious. To my surprise, any time I used the phrase, all rebellion seemed to stop. I actually thought she caught on and was doing it intentionally, but she didn't respond when I signaled that to her.
A few weeks later, after more and more reinforcement, to the point where it was a very common part of my everyday vocabulary, I was able to completely quell any fire she brought up. I would do a short explanation or rationalization, then end the sentence with, "Isn't that right?", and poof, the rebellion goes away.
I accidentally revealed it today as stated due to showing a list of notes I used to keep track of triggers for subjects, but luckily, by the time she found out, it was one of the most potent triggers I had for her. It still works just fine.
Before she did find out, I finally got to hear what she sounded like after all the training when I said it out loud, as I mostly reinforced it via text. It sounded like her voice turned droopy and monotone entirely and only for when she agreed, then went back to normal. It was really, really cute, and I had to stifle a giggle or two.
Luckily, I didn't write down the other few covert triggers I have for her. I'll be having fun with those for a good while longer.
dhshdhhdbg ok now i wonder if that would work on me...
if it did, then you'd have no idea! ^v^
completely unaware of your obedience, always just feeling like you came up with an idea... surely not.
If you're looking for a hypnosis discord with actually skilled hypnotists and a fantastic community of (mostly) therians and other creatures, consider applying here.
My server is always on the lookout for skilled hypnotists and subjects, as well as critters who simply want to learn or even just exist in a space unlike many others.
The server is heavily hypnosis, therian, dog, and plural-centric, with channels for casual fun, hypnosis-less conversation, and discussion of the mechanical and theoretical aspects of the practice.
We all share information with eachother actively, and the environment makes it almost impossible to not learn more about hypnosis and yourself.
The server is primarily SFW in nature, but has spaces to discuss kink.
Think you might enjoy that? Then...
...fair warning. What I look for in applications are not things you would be capable of anticipating in large part. Even if you do and manage to intentionally misrepresent yourself, if you are not a fit for the server, you will not last long.
Answer honestly. The only thing that guarantees you not joining is being deceptive. Good luck.
Hypnovember Files #1 - Safer is Deeper
A conversational file meant to give you dynamic and strong safeties, and in the process, make you much more susceptible. There is a long ramble at the beginning, but it is worth listening to.
I tried a more direct sort of suggestion style for this, less visualization focused. I hope it works! ^v^

What are your thoughts on mixing cannabis with hypnosis?
It depends!
If we're mixing cannabis with hypnosis, we should address three different sorts of imaginary meters for each and every hypnotic subject.
We have the potential susceptibility (which, in my opinion, is almost always very high if one were to break all of their emotional barriers), and then actual susceptibility. Lastly, we have ability to focus.
If we were to view marijuana as a stat changer, both potential susceptibility and ability to focus drop to some extent with marijuana use. In my opinion, if it is a light to moderate dose, that amount is actually very small, and it only becomes a hinderance once someone becomes far too high to keep track of the sort of hypnotic narrative.
Before that point, a light to moderate high, it should be beneficial overall for almost everyone.
Marijuana lowers inhibitions, increases practical susceptibility due to that and a few other things, and in moderation, comes at very little cost. You're losing some focus for an increased ability to dissociate temporarily and a suppressor to rational and anxious thoughts, which is more than a favorable trade.
Weed would be most effective for hypnosis if you're someone who has a strong metacognition (having that voice during trance that is anxiously checking if something is working, how you're feeling, if any of this is real, etc) and those who have a harsh internal critic towards hypnosis sessions.
I most certainly do not know enough about the differences to speak to anything comprehensive, but on the basic level, marijuana can certainly assist trance, and intense breakthroughs while high can translate to more effective trance when sober, too.
Be safe, and have fun.
i'm sorry if this is weird or overstepping or something, but i truly think you're, like, the best person to ask this: i want to write a story (a fanfic) about someone discovering hypnosis through a dare in twitch chat at age, like, 30 or 40. & am having trouble imagining how to write someone in that circumstance who is properly Affected by that first file, or at least affected enough to become Intrigued, because my experience is one of watching tons and tons of youtube videos out of an entirely private, mysticism-powered Interest with a capital I in my early teens that, over months, gradually made me susceptible enough to trance for me to start having, like. preferences. and it's taken literal years for it to become something that's able to make me lose focus immediately or at least quickly upon starting a file. not that i want this guy to be dropping IMMEDIATELY, but i just don't know how to get in the head of someone who already IS susceptible to a significant degree; my own experience is so predicated on conditioning via loads of very, very, very ineffective and bad files before i found anything good. & another complication is that i want this guy (who is definitely whimsical enough to try it once for the fun of it regardless of how much of his ordinary audience would be even mildly interested, so at least i don't have to get Over Half The Audience to be Immediate Converts as well) to start having, like, a dedicated weekly stream for hypnosis, which means finding both both a) good and b) sfw shit fast. sth further complicated by the fact that i want him to meet a Romantic-Slash-Kink Interest through said interest's hypno files. this is all really niche and complex and i'm sorry again if this is wayyy out of your wheelhouse, you just seem like the best-knowledgeable and approachable person on the internet for this. um. i've never been a puppy but ur Feel Like A Puppy script was incredible i loved it so much & def reading again at some point. <3. ily
I'm imagining a scene where this person gets a donation message asking if they could try hypnosis or just "try something" on them.
I won't try to come up with specifics for how the trance should go, but I think heaviness should be the main thing that the hypnotist focuses on; and, importantly, the hypnotist doesn't anticipate how susceptible the streamer is either (they're amateurish and improve in the story with time).
And so, while the suggestions keep coming, with thoughts slowing and their body relaxing, the streamer seems to stop speaking at all. And then, they finally get the Drop command after setting it up...
Slam!
They lose control of their body so hard that they lean forward and hit their head on the desk, waking up instantly and having trouble understanding what happened! ^v^
It'd be best if they felt a bit confused and scared (maybe even turning the livestream off right after), but then... over time... feeling that itch. They didn't understand what happened, but their mind is so curious for it (perhaps you could slip in the mildest obsession or addiction suggestion if you want to fuel this, but I think without it would be great).
So then... they shoot the person a message. The story goes from there.
Also, you could make this streamer Jerma if you want. I could definitely see this happening to him.
TEXT HYPNOSIS TIP:
If you do text hypnosis on Discord, spamming ctrl and + will zoom it in a lot more, making it much easier to focus! have fun! <3
I got a digital metronome! I made a (very) casual hypnosis file with it!
This is entirely unplanned and mostly just a hypnosis-adjacent experience. I do genuinely just want to show off my metronome.

tip for dealing with experienced subjects:
if you can be disarming, 2/3rds of the work is done for you.
an experienced subject has literally conditioned the ideas of "trance" and of "being affected by suggestions" in their mind with time. what inevitably happens, then, is hypnosis intermixing with wants and emotions.
so long as the mind firmly understands the concepts of hypnosis, just building desire alone can make it so you can strongly suggest your subjects while they're wide awake. if you do a trance that targets desire and fuels it (note: these are addiction suggestions, discuss them at length before ever attempting it), you can, depending on the subject, strip control away entirely. it happens to far more critters than you think. it could happen to you.
"dropping", confusion inductions, heaviness, thoughtlessness, all of these feelings and rituals and ideas are done to essentially give the mind of the subject permission and justification to have their thoughts and mind guided and controlled by an outside force. if you can get someone to want to be put under by you very badly, or just to like you in general, much, much less justification is needed.
you're just so nice to listen to. easy to talk to, even about sensitive things. you make critters comfortable, compliment them genuinely, make them feel welcome and safe. be principled, stick to your word, and always do your best. if they want and trust you, there's hardly a thing in their mind to stop the fun.
it's always nice when being good and performing well can coincide.
i watched your live session about short term memory loss, and. ghgh. holy fuck. how are you. that powerful
anyone can do good hypnosis. great hypnosis is doing a thousand small things right. i focused on learning hypnosis intuitively and from the ground up instead of blindly believing in and trying to function with the flawed knowledge structures of the online and even scientific hypnosis communities (which struggle with an even more amplified problem than regular psychology).
when i teach someone hypnosis, i don't teach them the way i do it. i teach them the foundational components to how hypnosis happens, and let them explore and form their own knowledge structures. much like art, one allowed to grow in their natural path instead of a series of walls will yield the best results.
hope this helps. try not to get too fuzzyminded about it. ^v^
for those curious, the video this anon in question watched is this one, a live session I did. you should give me your thoughts when you're done, if you remember that is! ^v^
seeya then~
does conversational hypnosis actually work like is it a thing people can actually do effectively and reliably or is it another one of those fantastical horny concepts
"Conversational hypnosis" is what I do most of the time, but that label just kind of annoys me for some reason. I consider it essentially the same as "covert hypnosis" which is what I also do most of the time nowadays. In my opinion, all that these methods really are are regular manipulation with goals that resemble hypnosis' goals.
Many, many folks can attest to me being able to seemingly remove all of their barriers and set things up without them noticing. Much of conversational and covert hypnosis is about framing and priming. I often frame things as if I'm explaining a concept and teaching, be it hypnosis or not.
Priming is much like setting up a twist in a story. While subliminals do not work at all, there is a commonly confused concept similar to it called preconscious suggestions. While subliminal stimuli are things that even when someone is focusing as hard as they can they are unable to process it, preconscious stimuli are things that could be processed if someone decided to focus on it, but they're misdirected elsewhere, and it's received without them noticing.
When a twist in a story happens, it can't just happen. Every element needs to be separately set up beforehand, setting the sort of narrative ambush in a way that once it happens, all of the things we noticed but didn't suspect fall into place at the same time. Priming is doing that very thing, planting seeds of ideas into someone's head to affect their perception so that when you do finally give a more direct idea (still under a conversational tone), it makes sense to them and they accept it willingly. It is, essentially, verbal sleight of hand.
I find most overt hypnosis kind of boring nowadays, and mostly use hypnosis to help people open up, so I use "conversational" and "covert" "hypnosis" to do so. Though, again, it's just a nicer way to put "manipulating someone's perception". C'est la vie.
a lot of time media depicts hypnotic suggestion as something that can occur while someone is asleep. Is there any basis to this in actuality? Or is it just another misunderstanding shows and such propogate
It is a misunderstanding, just like people who attempt to listen to subliminals and affirmations while asleep and other such things. You cannot receive hypnotic suggestions to any degree of efficacy or reliability. Any slightly possible effects would be pitifully minor and unnoticeable. Any personal observations of it would be the result of self-suggestion of the idea of it working.
Thank you for asking.
Aren't you worried about forming a cult of personality?
Group hypnotherapy, mediated especially by a single individual, seems to encourage that kinda parasocial following.
Mix that with personalised sessions with multiple people, possibly seen as lovebombing. Elevating your audience to the idea that they're a mutual, when they're not even close to your personal life.
Why not just point to a larger, more professional hypnotherapy server? Such could guide the individual to somebody that may be better equipped for them personally, and constructive yet critical peers for yourself and other hypnotists.
It could offer other methods (including non-hypnotherapy ) that could guide individuals to heal faster.
Imo, it's a lot healthier when attention is spread out mutually, and treatment exposure is not at the whim of a subjective personality.
And if just a group, not primarily about hypnosis and more about your explorations of it, then you should post that kinda stuff to your channel instead so the video can receive feedback from hypnotherapists, and it'll be able to be seen by everybody, not just the people in your server, and you can just do puppy stuff there. As long as it's all safe and doesn't form unhealthy bonds that prioritise escapism over wellbeing.
You seem confused on what this server is.
Firstly, it's not hypnotherapy at all; it's a recreational hypnosis server. I, in fact, actively discourage anyone who is not a professional therapist (let alone hypnotherapist) from attempting to serve that role to someone else. Many hypnotists who just start out see conditioning as a hammer and every emotional problem as a nail, and I shut that down immediately.
You also seem to heavily overestimate my role as the server leader. If we were to quantify activity of hypnotists in the server, I likely would not even be in the top 5. I've largely lost my interest in regular hypnosis sessions for the last few months and serve mostly as the teacher and guide, as well as just the administrative server owner.
This server is not even about hypnosis so much as it is a community server that has hypnosis as a binding topic. If I were to give a topical split of how much it's talked about versus everything else, I'd say that it composes less than 10% of all discussion in the server. Therian/puppy stuff takes up slightly more than that, maybe 20 to 25%, then the rest of the server is nerds talking about their interests and having fun.
Any emotional progress made in the server is consequential and due to the place letting people feel safe to be themselves. Such a thing does seem to help folks quite a lot, but no active therapy is being done, and we encourage folks to actually seek therapy among other things.
My role as the server owner is largely due to necessity. I've always found myself at a lack of communities that actually suit me, so I've always had to make them myself. I quite dislike being the leader and much like with hypnosis, I actually prefer being on the lack-of-power end and not the super-in-power one. I'm a subject far more than a hypnotist.
I'm selective about who joins because every single server member to have caused issues and then left joined the first day of the server before there was a member cutoff. This place simply won't work for the majority of people, and the people who are let in are ones that would benefit from it.
On to the other topic, I trust therapists who know some hypnosis, not hypnotherapists. Hypnotherapy has been infected by quacks who know next to nothing and is, by almost every measure, a community destroyed by scientific mysticism. It is maybe the worst representation of hypnosis in our world and at best is hardly helpful, while at worst is actively destructive.
Every hypnotherapist I've met has been woefully knowledge-less on the actual functions of hypnosis and how it works, and seems to only know how to do the specific things they're taught. It's the difference between memorization and understanding. They were chewed up and spit out by the pseudoscience factory and think they know anything.
I have no intentions to ever be a hypnotherapist because it is not even close to the best method of processing any emotions whatsoever. I like hypnosis as a hobby, a way to have fun with people. If you want something similar that is more helpful, look into Gestalt therapy.
A plot setup to a hypnosis story I can't get out of my head.
(cw: addiction, serial recruitment)
I'm imagining a story where some facility or evil group was doing serial recruitment but was caught early, essentially in the process of training 8 people to learn how to condition others to become trainers, etc.
They're caught and the leaders are detained and the trainers-in-training are deprogrammed and released back into society. They were all single and without family for one reason or another, and they start to get their lives back together. But then... two of them meet eachother again.
Be it online or in person, somehow they meet, and they start by bonding over the situation. However, as time goes on, they start to accidentally feed and recondition eachother's training that was halted. As all of them get partners and lives and participate in clubs and groups, they find themselves needing to fight the lingering conditioning.
They try to get deprogrammed more and more but they eventually just give up and try to fight it on their own. The two people start to get obsessed with eachother in a way different from their partners. They feel intoxicated around eachother and feel those looping, self-reinforcing suggestions come back, and they passed the point of no return before they even realized something was happening.
As the story goes on, they start to get in their partners' heads, slowly guiding their wants and positively conditioning them until it slowly morphs into a full on training...
Once they're slowly broken down, they themselves get systematically trained as the two trainers enforce and complete eachothers unfinished work: making them smart, dangerous, and fully complete trainers with two new candidates and six more past trainers to drag back in to the fold and form a new, unstoppable force.
I don't have the desire or wherewithal to make this, but there's no harm in putting the idea out there. It wouldn't be dumb spiral shit, it would be slow psychological manipulation obsessed with the process of changing someone and cycles of training and the call of the void.
Hypnotic triggers, just like everything else with the hypnosis community's understanding, is limited and flawed.
In general, when people do not understand how something works, they will imitate those who did it before them and ultimately give importance and distinctions to things that are arbitrary.
A hypnotic trigger, just like any psychological trigger, is an A, a stimulus, that causes B, a recalled stimulus. Neither A nor B need to be reinforced but are useful to do, most especially B.
Triggers are also not stronger than regular suggestion, they are just more convenient and more compressed. You create a concept in someone's head, a Thing, and associate effects, ideas, and feelings with it, so you can then have someone recall all of those effects, ideas, and feelings without needing to completely re-explain it. It is not unlike learning any other concept and its meaning. You are creating a new definition for what some stimulus means.
You could generate the same effects, if not stronger ones, without a trigger, but condensing it all into one moment is inherently useful and can lead to a myriad of possibilities, which can ultimately add up to more than the sum of their parts. Time and timing is important in hypnosis, and triggers save it.
While the "B", the effect, does not need to be conditioned (for any subject a somewhat competent hypnotist has any experience with, you should be able to prime the A and B with a single sentence and have it work at least moderately well), it is much more useful to condition it deeply. Triggers do not really atrophy if someone did an even somewhat passable job of conditioning, but it does need to be refreshed before use via priming and evoking the necessary ideas in the subject's mind.
The more the subject's mind needs to work to interpret something you've said, the more they will be taken out of that state where they're being guided. If the first time you use it in months isn't set up and as such doesn't work as well as it used to because of the need to process it, the subject will be convinced it doesn't work as well, and then it will actually have lessened effects due to the perception.
As for the "A", the trigger phrase, it is hardly necessary to actually have a deeply installed one outside of the effects of expectation and general structure you operate your subjects with. I even have a test to demonstrate exactly this, for experienced subjects only.
Trance itself is a conditioned idea that is then triggered. An experienced subject has the concept of Trance in their head: its effects, its ideas, and its feelings. It is always a limited conception of what trance is, but it is the reference point for what hypnosis is to someone. Most times, when a drop trigger or a fast sink into trance is done in any way, the subject is effectively triggering themselves with a stimulus A to reach the generalized stimulus B of trance itself. Memory recall is what brings someone down, and it does not require a traditional trigger to work.
If you are an experienced subject, I want you to try something for me. This is called the Orange Test. Ready?
Oranges are hypnotic now.
Think of an Orange.
If you have begun to find yourself sinking into a light to moderate trance, you may realize how utterly arbitrary all of this is. Your mind knows what trance feels like, and some magic ritual of the right words is not what is needed to access it.
Oranges are no longer hypnotic, in fact, they wake you up. Think of an orange again.
The thing is, you don't even need to tie it to any concept in particular.
Just remember what trance feels like. Focus on the idea. You might find that you can go into trance all on your own, skipping the line from A to B through initiating memory recall yourself.
This principle of memory recall is generally why I do not use drop triggers or anything a person has pre-installed. These fictional misunderstood boundaries the hypnosis community makes up have a self-perpetuating nature, one where someone being convinced of them creates a "pass or fail" state in their brain.
If you don't follow these correctly, you are doing hypnosis "wrong", and they are taken out of trance. It is why the first thing I do is educate someone, and why the second is to softly take down every barrier they have. Beyond that point, their mind is a fresh canvas, and not one with the lines painted for me by those who believe that canvases just come that way.
Painting by numbers is convenient for hobbyists, but limiting for anyone beyond that.
is there a difference between guided meditation and hyposis?
No, only aesthetically. Guided meditation is, essentialy, relaxation hypnosis with a different set of terms and common phrases used in it (as well as a lot of crossover).
